    Man he really wanted to see CP3 in the triangle offense

      Yep an awesome point guard, small forward and center would annihilate teams with this system. I wish Miami Heat during the big 3 era would have run this with Wade in the point guard position. They would have 3 peated.

    Hey Sports Fans! Here's *PART 2 of our TRIANGLE OFFENSE BREAKDOWN.*
    Coach Nick got on the court to go over the 4 basic options out of the triangle and how any type of player can thrive and dominate in it.

      Hey Coach Nick,
      Your videos are amazing, our team has improved so much from watching your breakdowns.
      We'd really appreciate it if you could do an offensive breakdown against the 2-3 and 3-2 zone, as we play by FIBA rules.
      Also a breakdown on how to implement a full court press would be amazing.
      Thanks so much.

      Hi Coach Nick, do you ever consider making a pdf of teaching the triangle offense with breakdown drills. The video makes it look so simple but I am afraid to teach it without fully understanding it myself. thanks. Hey mate, I’ve been running this with my U14 boys State Representative team in Victoria Australia for the last 6 months. We have graded two pools higher than any team at our club before us and won 16 of our last 20 games. If you teach the 4 passes from the trigger correctly it gives young players structure and purpose on offence rather than running down screens all game. Luv your channel!

    I would love to see the triangle used properly in today's NBA with the talented PGs we have today. The triangle has gotten a bad rap lately, and the biggest reason is the Knicks unwillingness to learn it. the triangle might be a little tougher to learn, but once u learn the basic principles, it's second nature

    I was familiar with the Triangle Offense but your great video helped me realized that this strategy could be really devastating with a good PG and/or a great Center. Two types of personnel the Bulls, back in the 90', didn't have. That tells you a lot about the quality of this strategy.

    What's good as well, is if you don't get anything from the initial option you run, at the very least you'll end up with a weakside pick and roll, because the spacing is perfect for it

    6:24 was the first time in the whole video series that Kobe caught the ball and didn't force up a shot. He also threw the ball away and looked pissed off while he did it and didn't move afterward. Whenever the Laker offense is being discussed, I watch to see if Kobe will shoot every time he touches it or actually do something else. I'm rarely disappointed.

  • @bandass

    I think what most people forget is that players can change roles depending on the situation (ex: MJ initiates triangle instead of Harper; Pau is on the strong side post instead of Bynum). If you have a player who doesn't fit that one particular role, u have the option of switching positions.
    It's also amusing that the four basic options out of the triangle are based on what pass is available after the initial G - F pass

    i dont get it
    how is the corner option good?
    if the big man's man hedges the pick at the corner, essentially making it a double team on the ball,
    and there's no baseline drive anyways since the forward is cutting through and there are too many people in the paint now.
    the guard is now trapped at the corner, isnt it?

    • @raredreamfootage
      @raredreamfootage 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The corner triggers the most strong-side motion. The assumption is that the man guarding the screener is always trailing behind the play and that is where the Triangle can exploit.

    • @OzbyBray
      @OzbyBray 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if the post's man hedges hard then he doesn't move out of the post and its a simple bounce pass to him

    • @tjr1
      @tjr1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The center has to stay low to help on the back screen which makes it hard for him to get up and trap the guard in the corner.
      @BBallbreakdown about personnel, I find it odd to not have a decent low post scorer in the triangle because that's your first option and after the cut through and cross screen, the only 2 options are to score or reset the offense. What are your thoughts?

  • @HitBattousai
    @HitBattousai 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is only an accurate statement if the point guard in question is unwilling to run the offense. As Coach Nick showed, a point guard can get penetration or mismatches every time if the offense is run properly. CP3 might not get the same stats as his ball-dominant days, but it's likely to be a more efficient offense and he won't have to work nearly as hard to get good shots for his teammates. And even if the offense breaks down, it still has options for the SnR, which is a CP3 staple.

    coach i was always wonder , is triangle offense a one kind of motion offense?

  • @gravityfel7896
    @gravityfel7896 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if it's the WING player who gets denied? Ultimately, you'll be forced to sometimes give it to the guard on the quarterback's left. If that happens, I wonder what offense can we run from there? I can't seem to properly "space it out" when I try to run it on my own.

    • @zacrea6683
      @zacrea6683 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We push the wing guard down to the corner and the point guard is on the wing now. If they deny the top and opposite wing, have the opposite wing back screen the lag man and his man has to help on the back screen (or you have a lob) So now you have your opposite wing guy be the lag man and you can reverse through him and your original lag man who got back screened is now the guard in the pinch post. Hopefully I touched on what you were asking for. Have to have tough guards to handle the ball if they are denying like crazy.

    • @gravityfel7896
      @gravityfel7896 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you are given the chance to either throw a lob, or allow the lag man to make plays on the post, am I right?
      And we can also switch their positions to make it look like they're running the same offense, just different player positions and it will be run on the opposite side.
      Thanks.

    coach how come more coaches, in the nba especially don't run the triangle? I've heard that some coaches frown on or look down upon it. When Brian Shaw came to the pacers they ran some sets with triangle influence; but larry bird even told shaw he didn't want the team to run it. It makes no sense to me

  • @iCanHazit
    @iCanHazit 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I wonder if the Knicks will be able to run the Triangle like it's being suggested with Fisher being hired. Obviously if Carmelo stays he would work wonders for the offense. Calderon should be great too and Dalembert shouldn't have too much trouble as, like you said, all he needs to do is know when and where to pass. Then again, it is the Knicks after all. They probably will find a way of making it look like crap or something.

    Hey coach I still think that a pass-first/pure pg wouldn't fit as easily as you make it sound in the triangle offense. The more I watch the triangle system's plays ran, the more I realize why neither MJ nor Kobe has played with a great pg and why Phil Jackson never coached one(to my knowledge).
    I also find justifiable, Jim Buss' decision to get Mike D'Antoni which would make Kobe more of the scorer he is and Nash the pure pg he is, at their age, D'Antoni was the right fit. They only lacked D.

    The clips are all of semi-contested midrange jumpers. I don't get these elaborate systems designed to get mediocre shots, with the idea that if you happen to have Chris Paul on your team, well, he'll make more of those bad shots than average - Chris Paul would make any system look good.
