    Worked like a charm! I took the party to my friendly neighborhood hardware store and got to score the best fit. Used two on each tab. Just the right amount of suction. Thank you, Mike!!

    Amazing! I bought the Dyson ball vacuum only a day ago, and was ready to return it. I couldn't even push the vacuum on our new high-pile, thick padded carpet until I added the O-rings. I'm so glad I found your solution. It worked perfectly!

    OMG! We just fixed our machine! It took less than 5 minutes and now the machine works great on our new carpets! We can even vacuum rugs now which we could never do with a Dyson!! We hope more folks find you and this solution! Thank you Michael Hart!!!

    Thanks so much!!!! My 20 year old vacuum broke, so we replaced it with the Dyson allergy model. Surprise! It didn't run on our new plush carpets that run through nearly the whole house. The brushes turned a few times then stopped and the vacuum was glued to the floor. This fixed the problem! Yay!

    Thank you so much for a brilliant solution. Works well. I am a bit disgusted with the Dyson Company unashamedly offloading these expensive vacuum cleaners onto the public with engineering defects that have to be fixed by the buyers (with a solution Dyson could have easily implemented out of the box if they had any integrity). That's not the way to get buy-in from new customers. I think it's only us old Dyson die-hards that put up with it!

  • @undertaker6fd

    I hope this works!! I found an article saying that the arrows on the filter located in the ball MUST be lined up. If they are off a little bit it will be hard to push. I think that's what your issue is, mine works great on carpets like yours.

  • @bethdawson7958

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Shame on Dyson for making such expensive vacuums that have tooo much power. Mine would not even work on a short pile rug! Way too much suction. I even bought a different brand vacuum and it too had too much suction and did not "automatically" adjust to different heights. I was about to buy yet another vacuum that has manual height adjustment capability, but decided to look for help on line. My first Dyson bought years ago worked beautifully, but I ruined it by using it during a home reno. I bought another smaller one and it never worked well on thicker carpets. Thanks to you it now works beautifully on my new high pile carpets.

    Wow!! This is awesome! I bought this Dyson last year. The suction is great but also too much for my new carpet. When I couldn’t push the vacuum on the carpet, I was a little perturbed, to say the least. The O-Rings are the perfect, easy, inexpensive solution. Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • @justinmorgan360
    @justinmorgan360 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I took the plunge and bought these orings. I was slightly skeptical at first, how could something so simple fix this glaring problem that esteemed Dyson couldn’t? But from an engineering perspective it made sense; the vacuum is actually too powerful and sticks the floor too well. After installing these simple o rings it was a night and day difference in effort. Now it works very well on my carpet where previously I felt like I was going to bust the handle pushing. So yes, this does indeed work.

    I cannot believe how well this works! We just got new carpeting this week, and when we tried the vacuums, it took a great deal of strength and effort to move the Dyson vacuums. I was told by Dyson that the vacuum was "incompatible with the carpet" and we needed to return them. Well, we have had the Dysons almost4 years. I watched this video, my husband put o rings in place, and now we can vacuum our carpet with a minimum of effort. Thank you! Why couldn't Dyson figure this out??????.

    Same review I gave on Michael's other video for this:
    Desperately didn't want to have to get rid of our DBMF2. We had just got a steal of a deal on a refurb'd unit. It worked great everywhere, but a shag rug, and a couple higher pile rugs. Went searching...found this vid' by Michael Hart. Ordered right away. Tried shimming with some network ties myself while waiting. Tried shimming with rubber bands while waiting. Those didn't really work for me. Once Michael's solution arrived I was able to quickly and easily install it and BAM! I was able to vacuum anything and everything. Brilliant.
    On top of that, my post office screwed up our Change of Address for nearly two months. Just happened to be during the time that I ordered from Michael. At his expense he reshipped two times until finally our local post office got their act together. Heh, we should bill them! :)
    He made sure I got the product and it's been working ever since. I recommend this solution and Michael to anyone who needs it and his help.

    I'm glad you figured this out - the Dyson support folks just kept sending me the same copy/pasted support garbage telling me how to turn on the brush bar.
    But also pretty crappy of you to not tell us the o ring size so you can try and sell 2 o rings for $10. That's BS. I just went to Home Depot and bought of box of assorted o-rings for $4 and found a pair that worked.

    • @MBMHART
      @MBMHART  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Reagan J.
      I am glad that you solved the Dyson vacuum problem based on what I shared in my video.
      As for your other opinions. I featured the solution. The solution is more than the o-rings--it is the vacuum working on the carpet the way it should. Remember Dyson allowed this to get out on the NA market and I agree their support has been subpar. People are frustrated.
      I came up with a novel solution and shared it. That is enough for many people to solve it themselves. Some of those people thanked me and left it at that. I do sell my original solution on my website for convenience. My price starts at $8.99 which included instructions and postage. It also includes my time and research in finding the near-perfect solution and getting the message out. People do not have to drive around and wander the store aisles trying to find the right size parts. Based on my trial and error I know the right size-my price includes my expertise.
      I hope you have a great day. Again, I'm glad your vacuum is working better for you.
      Michael

    This was very helpful, except I guessed at the sizes for the O-rings and failed. So, I improvised with zip ties, for now. We just had new carpet installed yesterday and the vacuum glides right over it now. Our carpet store told us to just get a cheap vacuum that has less suction, but this seems to be a good compromise.

    Thank you so much! I was so frustrated that I had bought a Dyson vacuum so it would be easier to use than the Sharp I had and the Dyson I purchased turned out to be far worse and much more of a struggle. I was so worried about having to void the warranty to get it to work properly. The O-ring size trend out to be common sense to figure out so don't listen to all those other ungrateful comments. I'm so appreciative of your help and post, thank you so much!

    Hello Michael,
    We purchased our Dyson vacuum knowing that it might have a difficult time navigating on deeper pile carpet but we got it anyway and sure enough it was quite hard to move around. Your solution was awesome! Thanks for making the purchase easy with an option for Apple Pay, and sending the status email when you sent it out. Your instructions were easy to follow and installation was a snap! I really appreciate the attention to detail, down to the smiley face sticker that sealed the packet containing the o-rings. My wife was elated and even my kids, who are still pretty young, were happy because they can move it around easier when they “help” with vacuuming. Also, thanks for taking the time to post a video to TH-cam and put together the package!

    • @MBMHART
      @MBMHART  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi TDC, I use the vacuum on hard surfaces, and it performs well. The vacuum needs a balance of suction power and airflow. With hard surfaces you also may see a “snowplow” effect, where some “larger” objects are pushed by the cleaner head and not picked up. My solution raises the soleplate to allow “more” objects to be picked up.

  • @rosefangirl8035
    @rosefangirl8035 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will it still have strong suction on hard floor?

    • @MBMHART
      @MBMHART  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rose. The suction is still strong on hard flooring with the Carpet Fix. I also noticed that there is less of a plow effect for some “larger” debris because the soleplate is lifted.

    He definitely has the solution. I used zip-ties and cut them off close, so I could put the sole plate back on. Worked just fine but like he said zip-ties are not a quick change to go in and out of “full suction mode”.

    • @kenster865
      @kenster865 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used very small zip-ties and I still get enough suction on hard floors to suit my needs. Definitely makes the vacuum much easier to move on thicker carpets. As others have noted, shame on Dyson for not dealing with this issue up front.
