    I just replaced a DC65 with a Sebo. It's hard to tell the difference between the one you just reviewed and the DC65 except ours is purple. But I can also give you a bit of a real world experience after owning the DC65 for 5+ years. The washable filter in the center of the canister that you pulled out can never be washed completely clean. We would wash and wash and wash it and dust would always continue to pour out. I naively believed Dyson about their lifetime after motor filter. This probably caused our motor to overheat regularly. The plastics on the canister is pretty thin and it is cracking near the cyclone heads and the canister thumb release mechanism actually broke at one point. Dyson sent us a replacement... for the wrong model. So JB weld and some velco has kept it on life support until we could afford a replacement. We have had two other Dysons. One was killed by in-laws and the other was too small so we sold it. We've had the DC65 long enough to realize Dyson's are just not worth the hype. Keep up the good work. I didn't even know Sebo existed until I found your videos.

    Another problem with dirty bagless vacuums is that if the dirt and the odor is in the vacuum for a long time, it can actually seep into the plastic and the plastic will have the bad odor even if it's cleaned thoroughly.

    Strange, I've had an old DC07 for about 20 years (I only vacuum the carpets about every year whether they need it or not) and have always been amazed at the complete lack of smell.
    Quite amusing that one has to use a brush on the shroud every time the bin is emptied.

    On the note of the vacuum being returned to the customer dirty. I remember when I sent in my 41 I was told that the vacuum couldn't be too dirty or else there would be a cleaning charge (this was for warranty work, not a service, so I wasn't already paying for a service) so it's possible that the customer was frustrated and declined any work and brought you the machine feeling it wasnt worth fixing to them.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No. The customer explicitly tried to get them to do a service and they refused to do it that's why they ended up in my store in the first place.

      @@PerformanceReviews that's odd. My local shop says they will clean them but only in terms of a repair sense. As in clearing clogs, cleaning off the brushroll, blowing out the cyclone, etc. Not restoring it to brand new like what you or I would do. Which given were talking about warranty work, that makes sense on the surface. For whatever reason it seems the local center this customer went to may not be following protocol. Or maybe the policy is dependent on location. Or maybe the customer used it after getting it back a couple times before they replaced it, and that lead to the hair on the brush, given it would not take any time at all for long hair to wrap around that brush. Still, if it smelled bad, Dyson should at least offer a service/deep clean option for those who need it. In this case it could have keel them a customer. Surprised they didn't try to get him to trade it in towards a new Animal

    I went to SEBO Felix from Dyson upright Ball and it's so much better. Much more durable and less maintenance required and a lot cleaner to handle. I also got fed up with Dyson breaking also. Thin rubbish plastic parts. I am in UK.

    I prefer The Sanitaire Force bagless for anyone who wants bagless or the bagged version for someone who wants an fairly affordable bagged vacuum. They are decently built, and the filter is very easy to get to on the bagless version. They don’t have the complicated cyclonic design like Dyson Those are better than Dyson. They are made in Mexico with Shanghai Ametek motors in them as well. I saw a “Made in Mexico” label on the box a brand new one. They probably will last at least 12-15 years with proper care and maintenance. The sanitaire force bagged and bagless machines are a step above the Hoover T-seres bagged and bagless machines when it comes to both motor-life and durability of the plastic, but they are very much a step below Lindhaus, Sebo, and Miele.

    And this is why I had traded my dyson cinetic big ball animal in for a Sebo x4. The smell was terrible since I have pets and I had to send my unit to the dyson service center they did nothing to the vaccuum but had it for a week

    the closest to a lifetime filter is a kirby bag or henry or central vac
    in size comparison not in actuality
    they better off with a hoover until something better

    THE BRUSH NOT SPINNING has nothing to do with dirty filters or dust clogging up (that's a suction issue). The motor that spins the brushes clogs up with dirt and the motor freezes. Forget the convient solutions, the brush head is poorly designed; the motor should be mounted outside the head
    Don't waste your money.

    I did some research on the smell especially from dogs and "that smell" and it could be a yeast infection on their skin. It doesn't matter what kind of vacuum you have. I do not especially like dyson type of vacuum. The problem that I see is the "elephant in the room". People do not maintain their vacuums. Dyson is not the best brand, I agree. The condition of the vacuum "reflects the owner". The last thing the owner wants to hear is how irresponsible they are with their vacuums. Thank you for your channel.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. It's definitely interesting to hear about a yeast infection being the possible cause of smell. However when it comes to odors in general bagged vacuums especially ones that can also have a charcoal filter deal with odors a lot better then baggless vacuums. Almost every bagless vacuum has an odor we're Bagged vacuums rarely have an odor.

    My family member bought a vacuum from me a few months ago, I tried to explain to her she needed a bagged machine (she has two large fury dogs) but she insisted on buying an old Bissell. I expect it to die shortly

    Are the cyclones less efficient in american 120v dysons because of the less efficient motors? in the uk they really are not as bad as the american ones seem to be.

    One thing about these vacuums is that the bottom of the tube that the prefilter resides in is right next to the bottom of both the dust chambers. So every time you open the bottom lid to empty out the vacuum, a bunch of dust floats from those chambers into the bottom of the prefilter tube and clings to the inside walls of the tube from static. And since the area the dust clings to is already past the prefilter, the next time you turn the vacuum on all of that dust gets sucked directly into the motor. This is a TERRIBLY designed vacuum. I got a dc65 on sale at costco for around $240 5 years or so back and the motor just burnt out on me. "Designed to last 10 years" my ass. My 18 year old dc14 on the other hand is actually not that terrible, though it's so beat up that I relegated it as my garage vac now, but at least it still works.

    I stupidly bought a Ball Multifloor 2 because I was tired of using my Kirby Diamond Edition. Within 3 days it went back. I was throughly disappointed. I know Kirby’s aren’t much better considering they are direct air, but I’ll never buy another Dyson.

    I still have a dc07 and DC40 and never faced this problem I also had an animal 2 but it was too powerful. This is also due to poor maintenance of the machine I agree and glad they found something that better suits their needs.

      Paper bag vacuums don't really exist anymore. I would invite you to take a look at a review somewhere else on my channel they use a modern bag that's made out of recycled plastic. Yes they're much better in the standard of which most vacuum cleaners use.

    I suggested to a Customer that it was time to replace their DC25 after a decade plus of use. The DC25 was struggling to pick-up the new dogs hair. I had replaced what was left of the Cyclone Gasket and a new brush roller. Oh, the new UP19 is ABSOLUTE TRASH! After 6 Months of use, I want it thrown away. Dyson has dropped the bar so low that Hoover Bagless machines are exceeding them in both quality AND usability. I had so tried to convince my Customer to purchase a Cinetic about 18 Months ago from the eBay outlet new for $200-ish, as I purchased one then, and had to shame them into purchasing this POS!

    Hey Performance Reviews I Think That The Bagless Direct-Air Vacuums Are Even More Dirtier!

    • @seana806
      @seana806 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure? Most bagless vacuums you see spew more dust out since there are more seals where dust and dirt that can leak out of vs a direct air vacuum with a shake out bag since the only seals there are are where the bag attaches to the machine or a emptor on a Kirby shake out bag.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This has to be one of the nastiest Dysons that I have ever seen! My friend has the animal version of this Dyson and every time I turn it on it smells like wet dog. I am about ready to bring over my Kirby and show him what a good vacuum is like!

    • @christianmoore7046

      @John Machotka I wasn't going to bring any modern Kirby to my friends house, I was going to bring a Kirby Omega. The Kirby Omega is good for cleaning shag carpet, which is what my friend has. Now that I think about it, my Hoover Convertible would be a better choice because of its deep cleaning ability and high airflow.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried anything modern most modern machines will out clean a Kirby easily including this junk in the video.
      Kirby Vacuums lack power that most modern vacuums have.

    • @Dankcatvacs
      @Dankcatvacs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @John Machotka i wouldnt use my kirby at a nasty place use a hoover but that just my opinion it would clean good but the nastyness would seep into the vacuum, if thier vacuum is stanky chances thier carpet is stanky. but my i have pets and have been ashamed of my self of how nasty my own machines can get but then again thats my own machine on my own carpet....
