Fantastic demo! I finally picked up a used v1 and I couldn’t be happier with its dynamic tone, usable range, and clarity. This pedal blends and retains the AC15 character so well!
At last someone who focusses on Vox circuits, not Fender!! YAY! Being a Vox fan (late in the day) but an Xotic fan for nearly 20 years, this is a great video! Almost all of my Xotic pedals work great with my Vox amps, but especially the RC, AC, BB and EP! The RC and BB in particular never leave my board!
Liking the new backgrounds and formats! Keep up the hard work. I can see results from your labors! 👍 BB sounds good thru the Vox. May have to try another BB
Great to see these pedals by Xotic. As far as BB, AC, etc. I've never tried one. I do own the Xotic SP compressor and although the Vox makes me question what pedals I actually need for this amp the Xotic SP is...well, it would be like gigging w/out my TU-2. So, I like having more exposure to this line and appreciate the vid (would love to see more if you're on an Xotic kick). I know people are put off by Compressor's, but I think you may really like the SP. I think there's a misconception that Comp's are for limiting, or "squashing" a signal, but they're about adding dynamics and response, not taking them away. I already own one so I don't need to see how great it is, but I would recommend trying one out. There could be a vid in it. I'm very curious about the EP and what's so damn great about it. If you're sticking w/ this underrated/understated line of pedals that would be terrific, but the EP is one I'd love to see you guys DEMO, or talk about. The BB never caught my interest, but you definitely turned my head in this vid. Hope to see more comparisons in the Xotic line. In my limited familiarity w/ Xotic the AC sounded more interesting the way it was described. I think all of their pre-amp pedals could use a little more attention.
Hi Terry, I'll see what I can work out with Xotic. They sent me this and the SL Drive to check out, and both are great pedals. I am also curious about the EP booster. Many claim that it's one of their best pedals. I don't have much experience with all of their pedals, or even know most of them, but I am most definitely open to demoing more of them on the channel. I'll let you know if I can get more of their pedals on the channel. Cheers
@@TheToneLounge That would be very cool. I do have to ask, what's w/ the foam underneath strings on the headstock? I had to follow up w/ a P.S on that question but guess I forgot to actually hit "REPLY". I've just never seen that done and am very curious as to why you're doing that. So, what's that all about?
@@jmo1366 Ain't it, though? I thought it would be a temporary until somebody finally made an FET compressor. When JHS finally did, it was returned the following day and just made me appreciate the SP I had grown to love even more. It's irreplaceble as far as I'm concerned. :)
@terry It's an old studio trick. It helps dampen the strings behind the nut, where a lot of harmonics occur. This becomes apparent when you use high gain or fuzz. You get this extra noise which is very distracting. Having recorded many songs and albums, it's not something you want to hear on a final mix with a ton of layered guitar parts. So, since I do record guitars now on TH-cam, I'm just using the same trick. I hope that helps.
I have had the first BB ever since it came out. It has been on/off my board many times. Put it up for sale, but no buyers. Then on/off again for a period of time. Then someone just loved it, and I sold it. And dammit, it has been on my mind ever since. And now, Im going to buy a new one… Its just one of those pedals: It sticks around, but gets overlooked because of the owners GAS and endles search for the better sound. Bottom line, this pedal is just so great :-)
I have a hard time bonding with this pedal. I'm not sure why that is. I really wanted to love it, but it just does not fit my playing style for some reason. Andy Timmons sounds brilliant with it, but I sound flat and lifeless. I can't figure out why that it.
@@TheToneLounge wow, thats my story with the BB. It still is a puzzle to me. I have thought about it since I wrote. What bonds me in a strange way with that pedal is not the sound, there is something about how it “feels” under the fingers - I think :-)
👍🇺🇲❤I'D DEFINITELY WOULD SET BOTH TONE CONTROLS AT " ZERO "🎸.......I ALWAYS FOUND ANY TONE CONTROLS ON STOMP BOXES.....RUIN THE NATURAL FEEL & SOUND.......THE DISTORTION / VOLUME......I JUST FIND THAT SWEET SPOT ON THE POTS.......( NATURALLY HAS : COMPRESSION WITH SAG & CHIMEY OVERDRIVE ) I HATE A STIFF BLAH FEEL / SOUND - COLD SPOTS ALL KNOBS / SLIDERS HAVE ON EVERYTHING. TAKES SOME TAXING TIME, BUT ONCE I SET IT, I 4GET IT👍🎸
It also depends on the guitar and amp combination. With a pedal like the Boss Blues Driver, I run the tone knob pretty low. With the OCD, I run it pretty high.
I really need the bb or ac! And I'm publicly subscribed to your TH-cam channel :-) ..... So how do I send you my address? ;-) coming from the FB post here just to let you know ;-)

Great demo! I like the combination of audio/video, captioning and image of pedal settings. No noodling either! Sounds great. Thanks! 👍🏽

Yeah, Fender is awesome. I just want to represent Vox a little more.
Imho - I much prefer VOX.
Most of the time, my Xotic EP Booster is all I need to push my edge of breakup AC10C1 into tones of sweet overdrive. Xotic does good.
Yeah, Xotic makes excellent pedals. Never tried the EP booster. That's on my list for sure.

Much appreciated! Yeah, give it another go. It's definitely a very cool pedal.
I love the way you are growing yr channel and yr videos are great.
Thank you 🙏🏽 I’m trying my best to make the best content that I can. Hopefully there is enough content to keep you interested. Cheers
Thank you for your very good demo
Thanks Robby! What do you think of the pedal?
@TheToneLounge I like it. I love the possibilities of getting low gain to high Overdrive.
Sounds awesome with your strat!! And great intro-tune 👍
Thanks Bosse! My Strat seems to sound good with anything I throw at it. Those pickups are awesome.
Dr. Z maz 38 with Xotic RC Booster into BB Preamp is amazing!!!
Sounds like a cool setup! :)
Bb preamp is Awesome! Love it!
It sure is! It's a classic for a good reason.
Xotic has really high standards.. their pedals sound great w amps across the board. Super utilitarian.
Yes they do! I've only played two of their pedals so far, but both are stellar.
Best pedal out there if you own a Vox tube amp. Its a must have pedal for all Vox amp users.
It's a classic pedal. It's not my number one, but it's a great OD.
Really nice playing / demo. Good job.
Thanks Matt!
Good looking quality vid as well!
Thanks J mo. I'm trying to improve the quality of the videos. Cheers

This pedal offer many possibilities... 👏👏👏👏👏
Yeah, it goes from light breakup to pretty heavy.
Sounds Beautiful ^^
Glad you think so!
I'll keep a lookout for one of these. Thought on the OD-3 - since its so similar to thd BD-2?
I've never played that one, although I heard that it is really good.
What's the difference between the 1.5 and the others?

Btw, try to run it at 15 or 18 v….
I'll give that a go. Maybe that will make a difference? We'll see.
@@TheToneLounge please let me know if it works for you :-)
Oooh yeah. I like the max gain.
It's still very articulate when cranked. Have you ever tried this one?
@@TheToneLounge I went and bought it after seeing this. I always use overdrives with full gain.

Mine produces some annoying white noise that's audible through my amp when it's engaged more then my other dirt pedals
That's frustrating. What power supply are you using?
They seemed to be on alot of pedalboards until overhyped affordable Klon clones came to the market
There was a time when Xotic were definitely more popular. I don't understand how their popularity dissipated.

Come back next month for that giveaway. :)
The true secret and "greatness" of this pedal is to run it at 18V. The expanded headroom is pretty awesome.
I actually never tried it with this one. Too late now, it's off to the winner of this pedal.
how would you do that? with the voodoo pedal power supply thing?
