Awesome pedal! I play my BB through my 65 Princeton Reverb reissue. It took a little time to get a completely transparent tone. I set it up so when the volume is backed off on my guitar, it sounds clean and sparkly just like the Princeton. Roll up the volume and it's true grit! By switching pickups and riding the volume pot, I can get any sound I want! Great pedal! I keep it ON all the time!

The BB Preamp is my favorite drive pedal. Seems I can't get a bad sound out of it, from using it as a clean boost, to adding drive on the lead channel for a more metal lead sound. This demo is what sealed the deal for me. And great playing, BTW.
I had the Xotic RC Booster first and then I bought the Xotic BB Pre-Amp. Both units are absolutely KILLER. I fell in love with both units however I will stick to the BB Pre-Amp for this comment. I have been playing since 1979. Being from Philadelphia growing up everyone had Gibson Les Paul's and Marshall Stacks. So, that's what my ear is used to hearing. The Xotic BB Pre-Amp is the BEST OD unit I have ever used. I just placed an order for another one which I will keep for the rest of my life. It's not a TS808 on steroids at all. Just listen to this guy wail away. To me it has all the compression and gain that reminds me of "Classic Rock" sounds.
I have one ordered but man, if I could play like that!! I was transfixed by the playing and forgot I was watching for the review of the pedal. Love your sound!!

I usé bb preamp for at least 5 years, and the strong point of this pédal is boosting signal in the front of an amp volume on 10 gain on 0, it add something warm on the higher string and the précision especially on a distorded channel. If you want classic british sound the bogner Lagrange is better, thats m'y thought. But the bb is à true swiss knive, even on the front of a crappy solid stage it give you précision, the pédal is pretty clean, the résultats on a powerball single recto 6505 jsx....just make this amp prescsise. Its pretty impressive on the single recto, on the mark 4too

Thanks for the insights into my BB and the wicked playing. The Major 7th riffing over the minor chord was truly inspiring. Off to the wood shed to cop some of your stuff and experiment with settings. May just replace the Sparkle Drive in my pedal board if I can get the tele mild OD tone sweet like you.

This pedal never seizes to amaze me! As overdrive on a clean channel it cuts through a mix like nothing I've ever owned or tried. To boot it's amazing when stacked with an overdrive channel too. Just brought a bogner blue to setup but they thought the BB cut better! I would buy anything that cuts like this!

I know. I have a Danelectro Cool Cat Drive v.1 that was $29.99 when it was still being made. It sounds like a $100 overdrive and almost as good as the OCD it's supposed to be copying. The Bad Monkey are similar in terms of intended design and control (tubescreamer influenced, bass, treble, gain, volume), but the Bad Monkey has a compression in the gain structure that either works really well for you or doesn't. Also, the Xotic will color the tone less when bypassed. There are no rules though.
this demo should be the format for all pedal demos...no funny stuff......no boring intros....or click baits...serious playing snd brings out the pedal tonalities the way it was intended to be in the first place by thy makers....does it work for bass......MESHUGGAH bass
Hello I need a recommendation to buy an overdrive, I am undecided between this pedal (ecstasy blue) or the bb Preamp xotic, I am looking for something transparent that sounds defined, that sounds good in the clean channel and that also heats the tubes of my tube amp when want to use the overdrive channel. Hi, congrats for your playing ! Is it comparable to the MI effect cross over drive you tested a few time ago ? Seems to be more open sounding and clear, may be dynamic. But the MI is sold to be very responsive... difficult to say behind a computer :-) Thank you !
Yes, i A/B'd it vs my Marshall Blues Breaker pedal. Sounded almost identical (depending on the Treble/Bass settings). I loved it, but already had the Marshall so back it went.
I have this pedal and I have something to say. You can never hear the right sound from videos. This pedal is better than you've heard. You can't hear compressed audio in videos properly. That sound's exactly what makes this pedal the most beautiful. Don't hesitate. Go get it. You'll come here later to thank me. A little warning. It doesn't have a lot of gain. If you are expecting gain, take this pedal and take another gain pedal with it.
I could listen to this guy play all day.
