Unbelievable!!! I’ve been so sick of my Marshall class5’s boomy/muddy clean tone that I usually stack fuzzes in front of it. After watching this video I tuned up the broadcast to cut out the lows and boost the clean and it feels like I have a killer new amp. It’s probably the best tone I’ve had. It seems like half the pedals on my board are to cover up the mud but now I want to hear the fundamental tone. Fresh Blank Canvas. Damn, can’t thank you enough for this one.
I just wanna say that I have an infinite amount of respect for you and the team - always advocating for a love and passion for the craft even when it isn’t your own brand, or offering alternatives when it is. Kudos JHS
For years I used an Xotic Ep booster as my preamp. Put it right after my tuner and never turned it off. Loved how it boosted mids slightly but over all made the amp way more touch sensitive and the tone sweeter. Awesome pedal.
I have a Voodoo Lab Overdrive that I bought in 1999, and apparently I got one of a bad batch of pedals went out that year with some faulty component that overloaded the circuit with bass (nicknamed the "Sullivan mod" after the guy who screwed up the batch). I put the thing in a box, but 20 years later I emailed them and they said oh yeah we'll fix it free of charge no problem, we know exactly what the issue is. The pedal now sounds incredible. I am so impressed with their customer service, good folks there at Voodoo Lab.
Dude! “Recovering The Satellites”!! I always tell people about how great this band was back in the day. I saw them live supporting this record here at The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago when I was 17. Really beautiful show and maybe the first concert that brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for bringing it back into the light!
In terms of bands I love that most people only know a few songs of, DEVO have always been one of my favourite bands ever. Most people know them for 'Whip It', but they are one of the most sublime post-punk/new wave acts of the 70s and 80s, and have gone on to influence so many bands. 'Are We Not Men?' is a must-listen for any enthusiast of weirdo punk rock.
The band everyone should check out is Genesis! Growing up when I did, I thought Genesis was just “Invisible Touch”, etc. It was a revaluation(pun intended) for me in the early 90’s when I discovered they used to be a Prog band with Peter Gabriel (The guy that did Sledgehammer?, yes!) singing & Phil Collins was actually just an amazing drummer! Genesis did everything first! Used 666 in a song lyric(sorry Iron Maiden) Guitar tapping (sorry Eddie Van Halen) Classical guitar (Sorry Randy Rhoads, Yngwie, Richie Blackmore, etc) Must listen Genesis: Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
I had the same epiphany. I was really only familiar with 80s Genesis. Then discovered Phil Collins Genesis. What an amazing drummer. Then discovered Peter Gabriel Genesis. Mind blown.
Genesis indeed probably had the best writing and orchestration of all prog bands, but your history is off-base on most of those 'firsts'. More often than not, some cat had already done it well by the mid-60s. exhibit A: Vittorio Camardese, shredding his balls off in 1965 (at 2:00 here). no drive (a crutch? i'll admit to relying on for most axes when tapping) needed, only superlative technique: th-cam.com/video/WD4zMqKK7so/w-d-xo.html
I recently went and saw the live cover band "The Musical Box" and CANNOT recommend them more. They added detailed drawings of the original equipment Genesis used and the sound is honestly cut from the records. They are brilliant musicians just as Genesis was. Thanks Dad for getting me hooked.
A preamplifier is a circuit that amplifies a low level signal (less than 1V) and transforms it into a line level signal (a few volts). That is useful or necessary in order to get enough gain (amplification) in the power stage. So it's a cascading process: from low to mid and then high level signal (power level). That's all a preamp is, so any device that does that can be called a preamp, wether it distorts and colors the sound or not, that doesn't has anything to do with the "preamp" denomination. Specifically for guitar pedals, that name could be used for any pedal that tries to imitate what a preamp does inside the actual guitar amp, but essentially, the first pedal in the chain that takes the guitar signal and amplifies to line level is doing the job of the preamplifier. Thanks for the video!
Recovering the Satellites is one of my favorite records of all time! Also, Fork was a jam, man. Great content here, Josh. I really respect that you’re so passionate about your job, and that you don’t care if people buy your pedals or not, that you want them to be able to find the right one for them. It’s part of what keeps me coming back to your channel, and what keeps me buying your products. You guys are awesome.
That's interesting to hear someone mention Recovering the Satellites. What a fantastic album. They were such good professional songwriters. You could tell that was a band of music students.
Well he cares if you buy his pedals, he just doesn't care if "you" buy his pedals; he has encyclopedic knowledge of pedal history to their guts that create what you hear; he knows how to create something the right way--and that is why he goes by if you build it they will come. He said Boss was his favorite pedal company ever. A lot of people might turn their noses up at that--but Boss (or Roland) created effects with passion--before most people had effects or even little idea what devices should do. They created pedals to fulfill what the musician wanted, and what the propellerheads in the lab knew was a quality tool; kept going to cover all the corners in latest trends and built out a portfolio that gave every pedal maker who came after a template to work from.
Just picked up this pedal, so glad I did. It’s exactly what I needed. Like Josh said, it pushed my Fender Twin into overdrive, and gave my Orange Pedal Baby 100 a much needed character boost (the pedal baby is basically just a clean power amp designed to get the most out of your pedals, therefore it loves having the Clover at the beginning of the chain )
There is an important use case you didnt mention: using a preamp pedal in combination with IR loader pedals for silent/Home recording. Would be great to see a video about it.
I found the MXR 6 Band EQ to be really versatile in this way. I'd set it to boost highs and mids and put it before my overdrive. Turning it on would give my overdrive a nice big lead boost.
Hi Josh, my favourite song from this video is "Emo-Oceans". It sounds great and I love the chord progression. I don't have a preamp pedal yet but will be checking out the Clover. Also, I agree with Kevin that the drums sound really good (tonally as well as the playing). Love the channel, keep up the good work!
In 1976, I bought a little rectangular box with a guitar plug on one end and a jack on the other, it also had a knob (volume) and a switch (on-off) It was made by Electro-Harmonix, called the "LPB-1". It was incredible!!
My dad's first effect was also one of these small EH plug in effects, it was called the Screaming Bird, treble boost, and they had a larger version called the Screaming Tree. Would like to find him another one for nostalgia.
When I told my Bass Player I could DI using my Fender Bassbreaker15 Combo by running the XLR-out into my cab em/IR he said "so you're just using it like a pedal" *sigh* "NO - I'm using the *preamp* section with the power-amp and output tranny bypassed. I CAN engage the amp AND the DI'd signal at the same time by leaving the "mute" switch off. It means I get to run my effects into the amp and maintain some of the amp's character and frequency response in the DI'd signal and also have the amp running in its full capacity, as my de facto monitor. Or, I can engage the mute switch if we don't want any sound coming from the amp itself" "So just like that Tube Screamer pedal into the PA except with an amp" *deep sigh*
@@johanneschristopherstahle3395 Ground loops brah. That's a common problem. Andy Timmons does it, yeah? He has two amps but only one preamp driving them both. I think that's correct. If it's not him it's someone else who they mentioned on That Pedal Show (which should be uploading an episode soon unless D&M got too drunk at NAMM and forgot to turn on the camera or call Simon...)
none ever mentions that the Boss preamp was also used by Dave Murray from Iron Maiden in the 80's to boost his 50w jcm 800 Marshall heads (1987-2204 models). The mxr dist+ he was also using, was just added for solos. Basically he used the boss preamp and a mxr 10 band eq as always on pedals since they had no stiwtch.
Even better with Peanut Butter. It was some really nice playing, tunes, and especially TONES. I love how Josh plugs other companies stuff he admires, like the `Keeley Caverns' on the board.
I'm still not exactly sure why I need a preamp. Don't I accomplish the same thing when I put a pedal in my effects loop? Subscribed. This is fast becoming my favorite channel.
Thanks man, I love you too, and it's not just because you said it first or because you make awesome guitar (and other musical) stuff. You earnestly seem good and that is rare.
As for Recovering the Satellites, the title track is my favorite. I'd like to take a moment to call out the guy that produced/mixed that album. Especially the guitars. From a sonic standpoint, it's one of the best recorded albums I've ever listened to. Another one, coincidentally also a Satellite album, Satellite by POD is fantastic sounding, if you can get past the songs themselves, that is.
After reading about many guitarists in the 70's using the Echoplex tape echo unit not only for delay but as a preamp i was always curious... About 2 years ago i got an Echoplex preamp pedal and i use it, always on, in front of my Marshall JCM 2000... Its amazing what it does to the sound, subtle at first, unless you crank it, but then after using for a while and you turn it off, something just sounds 'wrong' - It colors the harmonic content of the amp in really nice way and its become a must have pedal for me...
I just recently got an ampeg sst from 1969, which is just a preamp as the speakers were these weird powered ones or something like that. But it's really sweet, and like no one's heard of it so it feels like truly my own and not just a famous artists setup I'm copying! Gonna be a lot of fun running it through different amps, and even through the effects loop of my other amps if I just wanna go straight to the power amp!
I realize it may not be the intended design, but I've been using the JHS Crayon as a preamp. Master up, pre-vol @9:00ish, tilt @ roughly 12:30. It adds a certain body to my clean sound that I dig a lot.
Favorite song in the jam?!?!?! YOU’RE MAKING ME PICK?!?!?!?! That Revelator is a Jazzmaster smasher! The tones & attention to detail (like the “i” on the headstock using the string tree as the dot) are impeccable! I’m a fan of that clover pedal, it might wind up on the board this year ;)
I was Josh's lover for seven years 😅 I know that every time he says 'I love you' he holds some pedal in mind just to sound genuine, when he says I love you all here he's thinking/ talking about his own preamp collection, that's why he blatantly insists such honesty, he really does love you all 😋😇
I can't pick just "one" of the songs that you played as a favorite, I was enjoying listening to them all! I'm here to get an education about pedals! And you provide a very thorough and intelligent education in that regard! I'm very happy to have found your channel and appreciate your gracious work in helping guitar players of all levels understand what and how in the often confusing world of guitar pedals and their configuration(s)....
Fav Song from today's jam was 'My Dad's Truck' and the pre-amp the broke my heart is the BiFet...mine died and I've been searching for another FOR YEARS that won't break the bank, but they're getting kinda pricy for a pedal that cost me $20 buck back in the day! Love everything you do sir, keep it up!
Agree, Counting Crows are pure talent. Also really liked the Refreshments in the 90’s. Fuzzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy is a great album. Wish they had stayed together.
One of the reasons I like and support JHS pedals on my board is bc hes never pushing his stuff as the best and has an overall appreciation for pedals and gear. You dont have to buy his, just enjoy whats out there. Ive bought several things from his recommendations and always find myself back to a JHS or two.
Yes! Recovering the satellites is one of my all-time favs. The electric guitar work between the two guitarists is amazing. If you think you know what this band sounds like because of the acoustic/folky first album, this is the electric/rocking album that will change that perception. BTW the clover sounds great!
The Pedal Bored if you’re boosting the front end, nothing will keep it clean other than masses of headroom. If you want a clean boost, you need to place it in the power amp stage (or effects loop) after all the preamping and eq’ing has been done
@@davidtomkins4242 Sure, I'm just watching this video about what a pre-amp pedal is ('it boosts but it stays clean') and thinking, 'what makes a pre-amp pedal different to a clean boost pedal?'
And what's the difference between a preamp and an EQ pedal with a master volume pot? Would an EQ pedal count as a preamp? Is it just all marketing nonsense that they are called different? Or is EQ + cleanboost = preamp?
EQs, boosts, and pre-amps all EQ and boost. It's all about which pedal's sound you like best, and how you want to use them to minimize your board. I use my boosts after drive/distortion because mine are far from clean and I like a tight distortion. Whatever you need to support your sound. These pre-amps are for shaping your guitars tone for the gain, and FX pedals which follow, so they must be cleaner than your average boost. Adjust it for how you like to play, especially according to the volume knob on your guitar. The dynamics of soft picking and hard picking, high guitar volume, low guitar volume.
Hey Josh! Wonderful meeting you at the Dallas International Guitar Festival this year!! I’ve been using a J Rockett Archer as a preamp for years and it has never let me down!
A band I love that other people usually only know a few songs from is Tonic. Their whole catalog is awesome. And for a preamp pedal, the one in my rig is the Voodoo Labs Giggity. I have seen that the Edge used it, as well, but that's not why I got it. It does a great job of evening out sounds when changing guitars, and making my guitar sound clearer.
Wang Chung, one of my favorite bands from the 80's and beyond. "Everybody Wang Chung Tonight" makes me wanna barf, but "Points on the Curve" (their first record) is incredible! Most people remember "Dance Hall Days" ( a great tune), but "Wait" is in a class by itself. A lot of other great tunes on the record as well. The soundtrack to "To Live and Die in LA" is one of my favorites in that idiom. Not much in the 90's, but when I heard "Space Junk" at the end of the first episode of "The Walking Dead" I flipped out (I missed that song in the 90's). A while back they put out "Tazer Up" and hadn't lost a thing. In fact, it might be their best overall album. Not guitar centered, but beautifully composed and sonically rich. BTW -I love your channel!
a preamp pedal can be pushed into overdrive (or pushed further) by a pedal in front of it, an EQ stays as clean as it possibly can. Depnds what you want really
AttakaiMusic but depending on the frequencies you are adjusting on the eq , it can push the amp to break up also. Durval Lacerda raises a good question and I still don’t see why one needs a preamp over an eq if you have a choice
Good questions, I agree it seems an EQ would do the same job, only better and more precise. Still don't really get the differences between EQ/Preamp/Boostpedals.
I have an MXR Silver 10 band EQ and it can boost/cut volume and gain. It essentially can be a preamp in terms of adding/subtracting gain and frequencies, but there definitely are differences between the two. You’d just have to play both pedals to hear the differences.
JHS evil plan :P 1. Find an excellent pedal which is moderately priced used. 2. Use it in a video, saying how good it is (and, of course, demonstrating it with great results). 3. Wait for prices to skyrocket based on his "mini-review". 4. Push a JHS pedal with a similar (but modified) circuit in another video. 5. Profit as people buy the JHS version.
Concerning your last remark this video: I believe you! I do... ...I really DO. There's a lotta real love and dedication in these vids. When you're in love you wanna tell the World (C. Sagan). You're clearly in love with pedals and geetar. And your jams really bring across what makes Those pedals so great: I never hear 'effects', I hear the perfect sound to the perfect tune, every time. And it shows on your face when playing.
I am new to the whole guitar pedal world and i stumpled on your channel many many times. I really like your videos and your attitude! Very well produced, tasty and not too loud background music, not some overly cool dude... Just a down to earth man with a cool business and ideas. I really like that!! Keep up the good work!
Emo Oceans is my fav. I have never used a pre-amp but the new JHS seems pretty awesome. Why would anyone get active electronics onboard with a dang 9v when you can switch out preamp pedals? I am not being a smart-aleck, I really just don't know.
It's a reasonable question. Placing the preamp as close to the pickups as possible will result in the greatest fidelity. Even a short cable between a guitar and a preamp pedal will result in some high-end roll off. It's subtle, but it's there. I have a guitar with an onboard pre. I never use it. It sounds fine but I have to agree with you - from a practical point of view it is preferable to have the option of using various pedals to shape the sound.
I agree. I mostly play bass, and I use passive pickups because I like the variety of switching different pedals rather than being stuck with one sound forever.
What Giraffe said. It's not even about the tone shaping being close to the pickups, it's about having the active buffer in front of the guitar cable to keep its capacitance from acting as a low-pass filter.
Great video Josh! It’s cool that you’re also a vinyl collector (as am I ). The artist that baffles me why he never caught on is Marshall Crenshaw. He gets relegated to the list of one hit wonders but I have been a fan of his for several decades. He’s also a monster guitar player (check out Fantastic Planet Of Love from his Life’s Too Short album). Right now my favorite preamp pedal (at least the way I use it) is the Boss BC-2, which I put at the end of my chain immediately before the amp. Makes my Deluxe sound HUGE!
Thank you for mentioning the DOD Bi-FET Preamp pedal. I was working at a guitar shop in the 80s and a guy came in with a box that had about 10 pedals in it and said "I've gotta pay my rent, I'll take $100 for all of 'em!", so I bought it and took them home and tried them. None were stellar, but that Bi-FET preamp in front of my amp was "Stevie Ray In A Box"! Sounded like a blackface Super Reverb being pushed just this side of overdrive, but with tons of body and clean sustain, but not squashed like compression. Still have it on my board 30 years later.
>:( that song pisses me off cause ive been noodling on a riff akin to that except it wasnt as good as the one he played in the vid and that sucks for me. tell me im not the only one this happens too from time to time. Criminey!
Emo oceans and gazing are sick. Also this video was just geberally super helpful in explaining preamps to someone who knows nothing about them. Thankyou for that 😊
Back in the 80's club scene in Ct, a DOD 250 In front of a Marshall half stack all you needed! Aaahhh, simpler times! I was gifted a vintage one from my Brother In Law and left it in a friend's recording studio and someone snagged it before I could put to full use! Love the entire episode Josh! Content, Bilt, All the songs! Awesome!!And just discovering Jimmy Eat World has a lot of great quality songs! Very underrated!!
Ween is a band everyone says, "Oh, I know them. They played that 'Push the Little Daisies' song." Ween are so much more than that one quirky '90s MTV song.
My favorite track of this video is "Gazing" the vibe was so cool and the drumming on point. Imo the drummer was the hero of this video. Love you too Josh 😎
Four pickups, of three different types, with a Jazzmaster tailpiece. I too had to fight with the distraction. Fortunately, way above my pay grade so I could set all that aside. 😎
This is probably the best clone of the Boss FA-1 with the added features. There is the Billion dollar boost, retro Sonics preamp etc. Would really love to see jHs do a SDD3000 preamp pedal. There are a couple out there like the psionic triad but it’s a little pricey and more control than I want.
The earlier 1982 Lexicon PCM 42 had a nicer solid-state preamp in it. It was especially sweet for vocals and keyboards in the studio. It's just that the Edge chose the SDD 3000 and its built-in preamp became more famous with guitarists.
they are not underrated, just not enough people talking bad about them, letting our feelings show, calling them out for being weak. dont get angry just here cause i hate counting crows, people should know that some bands its ok to hate, or trash or put in a gulag in antarctica.
I loved them all, but especially emo-oceans. I picked up my acoustic and tried to learn it real quickly. It's in A, right? My band is Blur. I think people only know, maybe Song 2 or Parklife, but they have so many amazing songs and Graham Coxon is so unique and inventive.
Fresh Seventeen Seconds era Cure shirt hiding in the fold, which answers your questions of which band I love that people only know a couple of their radio hits… that I also love. Thanks for the ideas on clever preamp pedal uses and inspiring sick jams. Will definitely be testing a bunch out in this Frankenstein wet/dry/wet/octaver bass multi amp/PA rig I’m growing for a solo-ish post punk thing

It's a pity that Americans have never heard freedom of choice, pedo joe wouldn't have got in.
Twist away those"Gates of steel"✌️

...but does the Clover has a belt clip??????
No. No.. No... He hAs ToO mUcH lOvE
No need because when you have it you don't need to go out.
I feel like less people wear belts now
Karl Montenegro No belt clip = no deal.
Perhaps a colorful lanyard?
The band everyone should check out is Genesis! Growing up when I did, I thought Genesis was just “Invisible Touch”, etc. It was a revaluation(pun intended) for me in the early 90’s when I discovered they used to be a Prog band with Peter Gabriel (The guy that did Sledgehammer?, yes!) singing & Phil Collins was actually just an amazing drummer!
Genesis did everything first!
Used 666 in a song lyric(sorry Iron Maiden)
Guitar tapping (sorry Eddie Van Halen)
Classical guitar (Sorry Randy Rhoads, Yngwie, Richie Blackmore, etc)
Must listen Genesis:
Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
BTW, @Steve Hackett is touring!
Steve Hackett wasn't the first guy to tap on guitar, but he was definitely one of the very first to use it in a rock context
Does anybody else think the drums also sound REALLY good?
And I could listen all day to his playing. Just the way I like drums. OK, one of the ways.
The drums are soooo crisp.
True!
Taaaasty. And isn’t that just a mono OH?
yes i want that kit

And Recovering the Satellites is spot on - in my opinion it's better than their debut. Songwriting, production, tones, delivery. Perfection.
Josh , you are a gift. All your explanations are so clear. Thank you for all the advice. I'm so proud to have JHS Pedals on my board
My guitar tone has never been as personally attacked as it was by "Emo-oceans."
In 1976, I bought a little rectangular box with a guitar plug on one end and a jack on the other, it also had a knob (volume) and a switch (on-off) It was made by Electro-Harmonix, called the "LPB-1". It was incredible!!
th-cam.com/video/FFFAceoqZQo/w-d-xo.html
Thats my "always on" pedal. Makes my strat sound so beefy
My dad's first effect was also one of these small EH plug in effects, it was called the Screaming Bird, treble boost, and they had a larger version called the Screaming Tree. Would like to find him another one for nostalgia.
I was not expecting the Recovering The Satellites recommendation. Absolute masterpiece.
I use a Marshall 100w Jcm800 as my preamp pedal. Just plug it's speaker output into the front of any other amp, and BOOM! Literally.
Peavey rage 158 does the same shit, don't feel special just yet
Don't try this at home... Use the FX-Send instead!
My Bass Player tried to do that with my hand wired 10w combo. I ripped the lead out and put gaffer over the speaker-out.
When I told my Bass Player I could DI using my Fender Bassbreaker15 Combo by running the XLR-out into my cab em/IR he said "so you're just using it like a pedal"
*sigh*
"NO - I'm using the *preamp* section with the power-amp and output tranny bypassed. I CAN engage the amp AND the DI'd signal at the same time by leaving the "mute" switch off. It means I get to run my effects into the amp and maintain some of the amp's character and frequency response in the DI'd signal and also have the amp running in its full capacity, as my de facto monitor. Or, I can engage the mute switch if we don't want any sound coming from the amp itself"
"So just like that Tube Screamer pedal into the PA except with an amp"
*deep sigh*
Love the “band” context to showing us these tones. Would love to see more this! Well done!!
Damn, that was one tasty jam.
Hi I love your videos and I Learn a lot with it.
Greetings from Chile
@@marqueemoon3220 Hey Marquee! Thanks for the love.
Can definitely be used that way!
I have an EHX Glove that I use clean to add 'something' that makes the sound 'better'. i can't really explain it. Maybe I'm doing what you do too.
Love these vids JHS!
same! these are great!
Always cool & love your genuine enthusiasm 😊
"Emo Oceans" gets my vote. Cool episode. Very cool pedal (as always).
Thanks for loving us! 😘 We love you too! Seriously.... also, I'm not sure if you can play a bad song so how can I chose? 🤔
All the jams stood out to me all of these videos, they are a big reason for me watching you :)
Yes! Recovering the satellites is one of my all-time favs. The electric guitar work between the two guitarists is amazing. If you think you know what this band sounds like because of the acoustic/folky first album, this is the electric/rocking album that will change that perception. BTW the clover sounds great!
So... what's the difference between a pre-amp and a clean boost...? The EQ section?
There is no difference
Emo Tions is nice, My Dad's Truck is catchy, Stuck In My Locker has areal sweet ache to it. We love you Josh
Emo-Oceans for sure! Great vibe, lots of breathing room. Solid! And of course, apart from th guitar, the drummer is.....well, AWESOME!
James Mankey on Concrete Blond’s “Bloodletting “ is phenomenal.
Hey Josh! Wonderful meeting you at the Dallas International Guitar Festival this year!! I’ve been using a J Rockett Archer as a preamp for years and it has never let me down!
"Preamplify your life" with a clover logo. EZ t-shirt design.
POINTS!!!
Yessss
Isn't an EQ pedal even better than a Preamp pedal?
(I mean, aren't they essentially the same?)
a preamp pedal can be pushed into overdrive (or pushed further) by a pedal in front of it, an EQ stays as clean as it possibly can.
Seems like an EQ and a clean boost in one pedal.
I have an MXR Silver 10 band EQ and it can boost/cut volume and gain. It essentially can be a preamp in terms of adding/subtracting gain and frequencies, but there definitely are differences between the two. You’d just have to play both pedals to hear the differences.
JHS evil plan :P
Yes. I love this evil plan muaaaaaaah. Worked on me :)
It’s good stuff.
Might be reverb and Sweetwater pays him to do the first part.
Kirsch Electric Contracting Inc. I’ll never NOT have a pulp n’ peel on my board in the future.
If that's his plan, where is my Gonkulator clone? $250 is too much
Concerning your last remark this video: I believe you! I do... ...I really DO.
Was gonna say none of them.........and then I heard “Stuck in My Locker”!
Yesssss
I swear everytime I watch a JHS video, I’m tempted to buy another pedal
@@martinkrauser4029 That is a little over my head but I appreciate the answer. Thanks to all of you who answered.
On- board preamps, as in EMG pickups are also quieter than putting a preamp pedal after 10 ft of cable; better signal to noise ratio.
He had a hit? Love Marshall Crenshaw. Saw him do accoustic at Poor David's Pub
That is one of my favorite albums. So much more raw energy than the debut imo. "Another Horsedreamer's Blues" is a all-time track for me
I love the clover pedal. It's my favorite pedal on my board. It just makes everything just sound so good. Thanks for making such an awesome pedal.
For me, “THAT” band is Spin Doctors... Everyone knows ‘Two Princes’ (radio hit), but the whole Pocket Full of Kryptonite record is SO GOOD!

Michael Gregory is this the same as the bifet boost? Looking through dod pedals and can’t find the preamp but I saw the 410 bifet boost.

yours is not cheap. yours is like " i want but ill never have. captalism. so beautifull for those who have the money.
The Union Tube and Transistor “More” pedal is based on the SDD3k pre amp.
Toss up between emo oceans and my dads truck. My choice for a band that's underrated is Third Eye Blind.
For sure!
