Out of the dozens of OD pedals that have been on my pedal board, the RC booster has always stayed. I use it after the OD pedals to either fatten the tone, or add more edge/boost for soloing. It adds very little color too the signal.
Thanks for bringing that to our attention. You can now find the Xotic Comparison in our PGS Video Library! It's also the second video if you go straight to the RC Booster product page. Thanks, PGS
i have all three of these pedals...RC booster is a great clean boost...hence the reason it is by far the most successful of the three. This pedal litterally stays on at all times. the ac booster is a great pedal for single coil guitars...it really brings a fullness out of my tele the bb is great for humbuckers...love it...although it is a rather noisy pedal. all three are amazing but i generally use only the RC booster and the ac booster
I see two comments on how noisy the BB is , too be honest I dont have that problem, and I use it A LOT in my live rig, most times thats through the clean channel ( boogie lonestar), its very quiet if i want to thicken up things on the lead channel I use the BB however I back up the gain a bit and let the amps drive take over, could be your driving the amp really hard and maybe setting the drive levels to high, gain on gain will naturally be noisy. Just my findings anyway I love the BB
Not necessarily. But it's like a tube amp: when you crank up the volume the signal starts to get distorted, which gives this drive sound. There are some boost pedals focused on giving more headroom/volume without saturation, while others are aimed at saturating as quicker as possible.
on my board i run the ac booster into the fulltone full-drive 2. when you add the boost on the fulltone, it draws leads and solos out real well. i heard if you have all of them (AC+RC+BB) stacked you need a noise sustainer ...no matter what guitar you are using.
I got the RC to stack with the BB...man I should have just gotten the AC instead...I love the older version of AC and apparently it's just a simple mod away...would have gr8 to have that and get more gain stacking...the RC stacked before the BB doesn't work too well for me...it thins out the BB a great deal...for medium gain, the BB by itself is hard to beat
Hey PGS. Have you tried it in your effects loop? I'm looking for a solo boost but I like my on-board gain with my current rig. So....do you know who it sounds in an effects loop to boost a lead channel vs. a clean channel. Thx again!
I don't see the point of adding the AC if you have the other two. Have a good overdrive, but think I want the RC booster as a "sweetener/boost" for my cleans and a slight push for my overdrive.
0:17 It stands for Big British, not Blues Breaker. Blues Breaker is information from the internet, not the original ads when these were advertised together as the "Tremendous Trio"
hey pgs would you recomend one of this instead of an ibanez tube screamer? and what pedal would be the more versatile?( of those 3) running through a fender deville or a deluxe
Hi PGS ! I'm looking for a boost/gain/overdrive/distortion pedal to boost my rhythm sound on the dirty cannel of a Orange Rockerverb 100 MK2. I've got a Ibanez TS-9 but it doesn't seem to do the job : not enough volume and to much high end. Do you think this Xotic BB preamp should to the job ??! I need help please ! Cheers, Will.
You are both wacked..sorry... I cant"t even begin to tell you how many times I have heard that only to go A/B my early 90s DynaComp with their "way better or way cleaner or higher quality"pedal, only to find out what I knew before I left the pad. None of that shit matters. What matters is T O N E. I've played through this pedal. It reminds me of my Guyatone, sweet, smooth and absolutely NO character or magic. THAT my young padawans, is what all of us are striving for and some will never find.

BB+RC sounds best in my opinion. Thanks for the great comparison between these three great pedals and the combination demos. Thanks alot
Rc and Ac mix sound awesome
I love the BB & RC stacked together.
Just got the AC.....it's a great pedal. The BB is just as great but has more gain than I need!
PERFECT song choice at the end!!!

that crunch sound really good
Barber makes a pedal called the Launch Pad that is a very good clean boost too.
Nice Black Magic Woman outro... :) I love my BB Preamp and I've got an AC on loan. Great pedals!
A booster is an overdrive?
LOVE the BB! What killer tool for shaping your tone. Thinking of adding the RC or AC in the chain next.
Excellent video. I think I'll have to pick up an RC and AC booster to go with my BB. Great job, very informative and enjoyable to watch.
Nice to hear the outtro to Santana's Black Magic Woman!
I use the RC for my plexi clean and when I turn on my Tube Screamer(Keeley), DOD308 or Boss DS1(Keely) I combined them with the BB.

Wish that the pedal demo, intended for demonstrating sound quality of pedals, was demoed in a higher quality video demo that using 240p
A friend of mine was using them. They are pretty compatible I guess. He went with RC Booster though
Excellent vid, I want all three.

I don't know I think maybe it's just 1 pedal and it changes colors like those horses in the Wizard of Oz.
@disturbtheworlds Probably the AC boost.
Anybody try to stack 2 BB pedals together??
Not the BB Plus, as i was thinking of buying a second BB.....it's that good.
youtube compression is killing this video- you should put it in the pgs video library... thanks!
Are these MXR copies? They kinda look like it to me. Or are these higher quality than MXR? Never really tried these pedals out.
Amen to that. Pricey though.
much, much better.
ac booster... where's the dc booster?:P
this guy sounds like a radio presenter....pretty funny
MXR is pretty low quality compared to Xotic. It may look like an MXR but the rest is WAY different.
the mxr is annoying. it compresses and removes signal character
someone likes andy timmons ;)
