  • When it comes to what the Americans refer to as 'full size' pickups, like the F-350 Super Duty Lariat on test here, it seems that size does matter…

    Where are you going to park it? US roads and parking areas are made for large vehicles where Australia is not.

    Is this vehicle in Australia the same size as the one in America? Or smaller? I see that the vehicles in Australia or in this video are smaller than those in America. Or is there an adjustment for each country for the size of the vehicle according to the country?

      @@coopsnz1 Hehe. But if I compare this video (vehicles in Australia) with other videos (vehicles in America) that discuss the F250 and F350, in this video the F350 looks small? Or just my feelings?

      There's *big* version F-350 is DRW / dually. It's more expensive, tougher, stronger, higher rating capacity for towing & gooseneck trailer. Peace.

    Can't homologate the diesel and can't drive more than 3.5tonnes with standard license :(

    • @davexb6595
      @davexb6595 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With a standard car license you can drive a vehicle up to 4.5 tonnes GVM. technically speaking there is no GCM limit that I am aware of. Is there? Which means there is no specific trailer limit for a C (car) license. However there is an indirect limit because the GVM of the vehicle is limited to 4,500kg - which includes tow ball mass.
      Under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) a vehicle that has a gross vehicle mass (GVM) or aggregate trailer mass (ATM) of more than 4.5 tonnes, is classed as a "Heavy Vehicle". So that would suggest your C class license would not allow you to tow more than 4.5T ATM. There are vehicle standards which would limit the mass of a dog trailer you could have. So in practice I'm not sure your dog trailer could be any more than 4,500kg as well. If it was a goose neck trailer, I suppose it could possibly go higher but then more of the mass is on the vehicle - which is still limited to 4.5T. So I'm under the impression you end up with a defacto GCM limit of 9T.
      TBH really, unless you are just going to the local boat ramp, pony club or towing your classic car to the garage, then if you are into those sort of masses, wouldn't you get yourself a LR or MR license anyway?

      @@davexb6595 Here in my country ( Italy ) we can't homologate , I maybe typed wrong.
      Also roads are too small , and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross weight are banned from a lot of roads.

      "Can't homologate the diesel" - what you are talking about? Clearly diesel engines, including this vehicle are approved for sale in Australia.

      @dimmacommunication 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davexb6595 Have you seen my last reply ? Here in Europe we can't have the F-450 diesel, not possible to homologate. Also too heavy so you need a truck license.

      @@dimmacommunication This is a video in English by an Australian specially talking about owning a Right Hand Drive version of one of these in Australia modified for Australia and the pros and cons for Australian owners. Until now, you didn't mention Italy at all. Plus it's not clear why you would even want one of these in Italy. I'm sorry if you can't have diesel engines in Italy but we wont be following that policy any time soon in Australia.

      These things are pretty much specialised for the US, the engineering involved would never be justified by the potential volume of sales. Particularly not in 2020. Besides, Toyota will charge you around 130k for a 200 series, and an F350 will have a far higher payload, and twice as much torque.

      Ben Chesterman is that expensive? There are cheaper options for the likes of you. People blow more than that on entirely frivolous objects that have no function whatsoever. Have a look at what European manufacturers ask for their gilded chariots that are meaningless status symbols, with very little utility.
