    This is by far the best instructional video for a knitting technique ever. Super clear and easy to follow, thank you. No one else explains this the way you do, great job!

    The clearest video of this technique I have seen. Thanks!

    Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve done *several* top down hats over over the last several months, and I have to look up this video every single time. I’ve watched several others, but yours is absolutely my go-to. Really the only reason I even look at any others is because I can never remember which video is THIS one. 😂
    Time to go start yet another hat! 😁

    This was so great! Thank you! I was getting so frustrated (plus, I knit lefty so have to reverse everything). So hard with this cast-on!

    Do you have a video for the hat that you make with this cast on?

    going to try and knit the musselburgh hat, this is the first time i am learning how to use this type of cast on, on the magic loop. thanks for explaining this...i have a question, when i do magic loop, i'm pretty sure i pull out the top needle first to knit, in your video it looks like you're pulling out the bottom one first...am i crazy??

      Nope! I'm working the circle "inside out" so it looks like I'm knitting backwards or counter clockwise; if I were to flip the work RS out, you'd see the direction of knitting is in fact clockwise. I like working inside out because I find it doesn't stretch the stitches!

    • @aliciawalters4132
      @aliciawalters4132 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@knittingvortex I was going to ask the same question. Do you have a video showing how the "inside out" works?

    • @knittingvortex
      @knittingvortex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aliciawalters4132 Not a specific video that addresses this topic, but if you watch above, you can see that I'm working around the "inside" of a circle - imagine many more rounds below, not just the CO and first round. I'm knitting the RS of the fabric, just like normal, but the circle of knitting is flipped "inside out" so that I'm knitting around the inside of the circle, instead of the outside. I like it because it doesn't stretch the work as much. If I were doing stranded knitting, however, where I might want to stretch the floats a bit, I might work conventionally around the "outside" of the circle. It depends on how tight I want the work to be!

    Can you do this for an english style knitter

    • @knittingvortex
      @knittingvortex  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is english style, or "throwing," which is how I knit. Continental style uses the right hand to "pick" for both knit and purl.

    Is there any chance you could do this video a lot slower please

    • @knittingvortex
      @knittingvortex  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - you can use the playback feature in your settings to slow it down to half- or quarter-speed, as needed!

    • @patjohnson5586
      @patjohnson5586 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@knittingvortex Tried that didn't work for me sadly

    • @knittingvortex
      @knittingvortex  ปีที่แล้ว

      Click the settings gear, then in the pop-up, click playback speed. Uncheck "normal" and instead click .25 (or .5, or .75).
