- This cast-on is a way to create stitches when you're starting at the center of a piece, and knitting out.

When ever I am looking for help with a project I look for your tutorials first because I know I won’t be wasting my time. This awesome video is no exception. Thank you so much for your time and expertise. I teach knitting and crochet at our local community center and I always recommend your videos for times when I am not available or don’t have the skill set needed.

I use an outside company called Speechpad to do the captions on my videos. I have been using them for a few years now, and they are getting better and better at knowing how to spell knitting terms (ie, purl vs pearl). Thank you for the comment!

The slow motion action really helps! I just knit two little piggies, beginning with a 9 stitch cast-on. This technique would have worked better than what I did. Thanks for the demo! :)

I like this so much easier. The idea of putting 4 on the first needle is so helpful. Before I could not figure which was the first needle and gave up on dpns.

This looks just like the Emily Ocker cast on I learned from Elizabeth Zimmermann.
I usually don’t care for the slow motion tutorials. But now I’m a convert to slow motion tutorials! It being in slow motion makes it easier to understand what you’re doing in this technique. I can see now why some people prefer these to the regular speed tutorials. I like the slow motion tutorials better when you talk us during the video. Thank you so much for everything you do Staci! I would have never learned to knit or crochet without you. It’s a long story as to why it took so long. But I’d tried to learn to knit for 20 years without success before I found your channel.

Hello Stacie! I would like to see a video demonstration of a pattern with the condo stitch. Not many out there and even though it is simple I feel like it would make for a lovely video and introduce something new for some knitters. I haven't seen many patterns with condo stitch knitting but it can make a garment very delicate and open.

Staci's videos are amazing as always! However, I'm getting stuck and I'm not sure how to proceed. I am not sure how to know which needle holds the stitches that I need to knit next. I try to guess and then I end up with a big jumbled mess (at least it looks that way to me). It looks like my stitches are crossing over one another and are not laying in a neat circle. Anyone have any hints?

I prefer wood DPN’s. When I’ve tried using metal DPN’s. They’ve fallen out of my stitches repeatedly.

Staci, I'm using sock yarn and following the video fir thIs cast on everything is good till I get to the point of tightening the yarn with the yarn tail and it's just not working. Is there another cast on I can use instead of this one? Thank you
I recommend practicing this cast-on with larger needles and thicker yarn until you get it, you can do it!

I would like to use this cast on for two at a time toe up socks. Do you have any suggestions to how I could do that. Thanks
I always recommend knitting two AAT toe-up socks individually until you get past the toe, then start two AAT.
Can this be done Magic Loop. Dumb question I’m sure, but I’m a newbie sock knitter?
It can be done with magic loop, but I think it is actually easier with DPNs.

In your instructions, I bought the pattern, you said: entire length is 2.5” (6.5cm) shorter than desired foot length, that means, the total finish of the length ig the foot, including the heel? This is what I understand….plz. And thank you.
Yes, in the sock pattern you're knitting, you want to start the heel instructions when you are 2.5" shy of the full length of the sole of the foot, tip of toe to back of heel. If you don't know the length, you can also find the length by shoe size on this chart. www.zappos.com/c/shoe-size-conversion
