As usual great video! Just one thing though: What is the difference between MOV and Mp4? MOV files are full 1080p files. Each video frame is compressed into a JPG in the movie file--this means that it has a large file size. MOV files will work in most editing programs, but they may not work in some PC programs. Mp4 files are also full 1080p files, and they are the international standard for sharing videos across the web. They use an H.264 compression, which allows for a high-quality video and a smaller file size. You can use Mp4s in all editing platforms, and they are easier for computer processors to manage.

White balance. You said "set it to a fixed number, so that the colors will all look the same." Not true...if the (color of the) light changes between scenes, white will no longer be white. That's why AUTO white balance usually works better for the average person. If you are SURE the color of the light will not change from scene to scene (cloudy, sunlight, etc), THEN choosing a fixed number will work.
That was very nice of you to help us out with posting these files to you tube but if I may make 1 suggestion, the music level was too high and sometimes made understanding you hard, it was also distracting. I could just be hard of hearing but thanks for the video and maybe try eliminating talking over music almost as loud as your voice for us older folks who maybe went a little tone deaf over the years. Thanks again the video was helpful and that was a generous thing to do with your time I appreciate it
Great tutorial T, thanks for sharing. I would like to add one more item to your list to help give the film look. The Phantom 3 camera has very heavy moire. I have to turn down the sharpness all the way -3 and then add a pinch in post. In some cases when filming a fence or a brickwall I'd actually use gaussian blur in post to try to dissolve any and all moire. That pretty much solve any moire issues. Great video! Most parts of this tutorial of course also works for the Standard edition of the Phantom 3. The differences are the resolution (maximum 2.7 K) and that it's harder to find filters for the Standard edition because there are no filter threads on that camera. There are a few cheap filters available (I have a UV-filter) and I have ordered a ND-filter and a circular polarize filter, but I don't now the quality of them yet. Maybe I will post a comment about them when I've received them and tested them! ☺
+BPM Videos Yeah! I ordered a cheap ND/polarize filter. There is no grading on it, but I estimate it to be equivalent to an ND 8x filter. It's ok, I can recommend it, it's absolutely good to have to reduce the shutter speed when filming. I got my ND filters from PolarPro..so far so good. The pack comes with ND4, ND8 and a circular polarizer, pretty good for the price. RageCams was a bit too pricy for me. (:
This video is irrelevant. You got 25 min of battery... Settup your favorite settings beforhand.. Autowhitebalance? Just change the temperature in postproduction.. Or just remember your solar temperature.. Really in my opinion even professionally just set everythinf to auto unless you need a specific shutterspeed for a specific need . I am not critizing anyone.. His video is good to show all the features but really this cameras are very smart..
depents on the hardware and software, you have to fix the Vids with.. I dont have 4k tv or pc.. so i just shoot in 1080 25 frames. as good as it gets..What i think is important is ,, the white ballance NOT SET TO AUTO... just try different settings at different locations.. When on Auto . it wil change at times you dont want it to change. so i never use auto..

Thanks for this video! I have filmed with the DJI phantom 3p several times now and recorded some vids but I never seem to get the black bars on top and bottom to creat the 'cinema' effect. I can put those in with editing, but do you know what might be the problem here?

Hello Tom, I have a major issue when recording with my Phantom 3 standard. When I'm recording, any green areas, like green grass, trees, etc, pulse like crazy. I don't know how to describe it except that the green areas flash a darker shade of green and then it goes back to normal, all within a couple seconds. Please help! Thank you in advance.

Today i flew the firstvtime with my phantom 3 standard with the standard camera settings. Now im looking at the footage and it all looks really cool, nearly a bit like black and white. Is the normal setting that bad or whar happened? Is it just because of bad lightning?
with all the respect to you Tom and everyone here, I don't think it's good for the gimbal to place those filters because it makes pressure which is not natural for the gimbal to have. Any other thoughts on this subject?
+Bikalap Basnet All the models in the Phantom 3 line have the custom style where you can adjust sharpness, contrast, and saturation. The brightness you adjust with the ISO and shutter speed (and NDs if you have them) :)
hoping Tom or someone can help me with a problem im having shooting video with my phantom 3 pro. when filming fences or the pixed fence railing on my porch it doesn't have the jello effect but looks like it has black streaks that move along them. harder to explain than i thought , if some one knows how to fix this problem , please help. thanks again
Useful info, but can I suggest that if you want to get your message across more efficiently then you could tone down the background "music ?" - it is really distracting. better yet - get rid of it all together.

so i tried the flight recorder button on the data log. if you have it on it shows a map like from google earth maps. it shows the white line of the route you flew. and the drone in the red triangle following in a yellow line. it also shows you control sticks and how you used them during the flight.it also shows where you took pictures from and what altitude. found it useful knowing my stick control because it shows it in % on how i used use them. so I can watch the video on the computer and see the flight log and see if I am turning to fast or climbing to fast. its interesting if you were recording your flight to see the difference. it does not show the footage of the flight from your camera just the data from the drone on the flight log. to see it if you have that part on just go to flight log and press on it and you will see the areal map. cool video thanks helped a lot.
Try formatting the tablet, don't install anything on it except the DJI Go app. Turn off any notifications, and make sure the firmware is up to date on the tablet. That's what I had to do. No more lag.
Watched the whole video for Tom not to answer my question.... how the freak do you record your flight? I can take off and mess with the settings but when I land and check the folder... it is empty!!!

You don't want to turn down the sharpness! It seems like the phantom then blurrs the image and doesn't behave like a normal camera!
Matthias Riegler i have it on 0. tried -3 and plus 3 on Pictures. less is better when you are done editing. but for video idk
0 is okay for videos, but anything lower than that will result in a blurry image

I noticed that when I use my Apple I pad it records MOV and on my Samsung S5 it is MP4. Is there a option for MP4 on the DJI App?

Don't P3P has "Style" option which includes brightness , saturation and contrast ?

Antiflicker is set at twice the frame rate... ntsc was mostly 30fps so 60htz where Europe pal was 24 so they rounded up to 50htz

I see that a lot of people use ND filters. What's wrong with just increasing the shutter speed? Wouldn't you get better still photographs anyway?

my first Video with the P3P show me that its not so detailed - Sharp. i gues its because i used Color-None and not Log. it was 12:00 in the morning
24 is American film, 25 is Europe, thats the difference. 24 is 23.97 as 25 iis 24.97...
