Very informative as usual Tom I don't hardly ever comment but I do watch your videos. Especially with the exp mode now that you've explained that it's only from external influences and not the way it actually responds to your control. Thank you you saved me time and most likely frustration.
Tom - Great video, as usual. Btw, the blue line is called the "transfer function" and the Rudder has a "linear transfer function," which means, the copter moves in an equal amount (I,.e. directly proportional) to the movement of the stick - it responds linearly. The other curves are non-linear. And btw, this is the way a waveshaper or distortion box works (think Hendrix) - it applies a non-linear response to the audio input to produce distortion on the output.
Danke! Auf den Trick mit der Verlängerung des Hebels bin ich noch nicht gekommen. Empfiehlst du zusätzlich noch die Funktion "Yaw synchros follow" auszuschalten?
Thanks for the video! I must say, I really appreciate the effort you go to to compare each different setting, with side-by-side comparison videos! Subscribed and look forward to future videos!
Very helpful vid. On the DJI GO App, under Sensitivity, there is an adjustment for Yaw EndPoint. Do you happen to know what that adjusts exactly? Some have said it controls the overall speed, but I was thinking it actually controls how quickly the yaw turns in the reverse direction.
hi, thanks for the video. i might be 3yrs later and i dont know if anyone else said something about the link in your description no being clickable.i mean the video about GAIN SETTING IN DEPTH.....😟
hey. I have been trying to find an answer to this question. I have phantom 3 standard. I also have bought a phantom 3 advanced gimble and Camara. can I switch the standard gimble and Camara out with advanced or not? I have the standard remote . if not is there a way to power up the advanced gimble and Camara and use that on another quad or tricopter? didn't know if I should sell it or use it. thanks for any replies
I realize this is dated 9 months ago, but when you say the Rudder limit is 30-70 I found when I tried it, it's 20-80 now. Maybe they changed it. Anyway thanks for great videos.
Hi just tried this setting the Yaw to 0.37 but every time I go of the page and back On it has changed back 0.40 do I have to do this every time I use it or is there a way of storing the setting.
hi man,, i have a phantom 3 professional and for some reason i caanot change the expo values,, the numbers get red and nothing changes.. what could be the reason?? values goes from 0.2 to 0.8... thnx!!!
+Krun Face Try recording at 1080p@60 instead of the default 1440p@30. Higher framerates generally mean smoother video, so just try upping the FPS for a small sacrifice of resolution.
Yeah, he didn't give any information on this, which renders all of the results basically useless (from a scientific perspective) since any yaw rate can be achieved using any of the expo settings (they just may require differing amounts of stick displacement). From a mathematical perspective, the premise that he is pushing the stick all the way to the right is actually impossible, since all expo curves map the maximum x-axis input to the maximum y-axis output. Therefore, pushing the stick all the way to the right would give an identical result no matter what the expo parameter is, and this clearly contradicts what we observe in his videos.
Hi Tom, thanks for your great videos. I have a problem with the yaw setting. I have a phantom 4 , and the range is possible from 0.2 to 0.8 but each time i try to change the original value ( 0.4) the numbers turn red and i can not save the new value. Sorry for my bad english ... can anyone help me ?
Hey tom, I have a phantom 4 pro I have done all those settings but it still to fast! It works fine when sensor is turned onn but act too fast while sensor is off! Is there's any solutions to adjust the maximum kph?
HELLO TOM, I HAVE THE PHANTOM 3 PRO AS MANY OF YOU DO. I HAVE DONE A FEW VIDEOS AND WHEN I MOVE THE DRONE ON IT's AXIS TO GET A PANORAMIC VIEW, AFTER DOWNLOADING FOR WATCHING THE VIDEO, IT'S LIKE SHAKY, THE FRAMES KIND OF JUMP. I AM SURE THE EXPERIENCE VIDEOGRAPHERS HAVE A NAME FOR THIS, BUT WE AS BEGINNERS DON'T KNOW. SO THE QUESTON IS, HOW CAN WE AVOID THIS? AND HAVE A SMOOTH MORE CINEMATIC SHOT. I AM SHOOTING AT 24 FRAMES AND SPEED OF 50, AND ALSO HAVE DONE THE ADJUSTMENTS AS YOU SAY IN YOUR TUTORIAL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. HAPPY SHOOTING.
Can't answer for sure, but even if you could, at best you're probably looking at RAW RGB 10-bit at 720@30fps. I'm sure the camera can do much more, but the limitations usually lie with the processing hardware and storage speed limits (SD cards are not great for storing RAW footage, which has bit-rates several orders of magnitude higher than compressed footage). If it was just an easy software unlock, you can bet that DJI would be selling it :)

The video comparison is a nice idea, but it's not carried out very scientifically. Any of the video yaw rates you showed can be achieved with any of the expo settings, it's just a matter of how much you have to move the yaw stick. However, this test lacks the data of how hard you were pushing the yaw stick. How can you be sure that during each of the tests you were pushing the yaw stick the same amount for a fair comparison? Even if you were, I think choosing the clip that looks the best from this test isn't the right way to decide on an expo setting, because the yaw stick is fixed at some arbitrary position. I think a better test would be to design a cinematographic shot that requires some challenging yaw manipulation, and then attempt to record the same designed shot with each of the yaw expo settings. I think this would provide a more real-world application than simply rotating at a fixed height at a constant rate, and offer a better way to choose a favorite yaw rate.
Daniel Walsh I thought exactly the same thing. The stick would need to be being pressed at the exact same pressure unless to pushed it to full right which at that point wouldn’t be slow anyways
I tried this but it keeps reverting back to 0.40, i change it to lets say 0.30 hit enter en a few screens later when I check it is back at 0.40? Anyone? Oh and BTW my gain settings are all at 0 i change it and same happens again as above.
Thanks for sharing with us Tom. All the way here from South Africa. (Would have given you a donation but 500 euros would set me back 8887 South African Rand. lol our South African rand is in freefall!!
Tom is best Tutor on TH-cam by far - Congratulations
by far the best presenter on the net. Been a great help and improved my video!!!
Bin ich der Einzige, der diesen tanzenden Astronauten aufs übelste feiert? :) tolles Video, weiter so!
Thanks much for this. The more I learn about the Phantom, the more amazed I am at it's abilities.

the split screen comparison was perfect

This thing with thumb stick is shocking good idea. GJ DJI designer!

Excellent video. I like the 4 way comparison at the end. Very useful. Thank you
Another excellent video with helpful info.
My big thumbs and being heavy handed can use .30 expo setting.
Thanks for the info
+Ronnie Bennett i use .30 as well
Thanks from Yuma Arizona, Tom. Great video! You solved a great mystery for me.
Channel is excellent and very instructive. can you tell me whether the F mode drone uses GPS and whether flight restrictions in height and distance?
thanks TOM... greetings from PHILIPPINES
Thanks, help me a lots you are making nice short and clear explanation video good job
I really love your channel. Great videos and explanations. Thanks for all your help.
Great vid. I like 0.37 too
Really good stuff......wish there was more expo available. In my R/C days expo was a good thing.
Danke! Auf den Trick mit der Verlängerung des Hebels bin ich noch nicht gekommen.
Empfiehlst du zusätzlich noch die Funktion "Yaw synchros follow" auszuschalten?
great video as usually....will do this! thanks!! thumbs up!!!
Just done this to my new P3S - many thanks for the tips.
Thanks for the video! I must say, I really appreciate the effort you go to to compare each different setting, with side-by-side comparison videos! Subscribed and look forward to future videos!
I completely changed my flight controls to resemble flying the choppers in Battlefield. Instant done pro pilot now hahaah
xIAMDAVEx this is amazing. I was thinking about doing the same thing. How did you do it?
Very helpful vid. On the DJI GO App, under Sensitivity, there is an adjustment for Yaw EndPoint. Do you happen to know what that adjusts exactly? Some have said it controls the overall speed, but I was thinking it actually controls how quickly the yaw turns in the reverse direction.
Nice info man... I will try... thanks...
I know this is an old video. Have you tried adjusting the values to the new min of 0.2 and max of 0.8?
Thanks for the tut. Very useful.
Are you fully pushed to the right on the test videos?
Is there any way to make the footage smooth when moving this way?
Thanks for the info. Like your work.
Greetings from Surinam!!!
Exactly the information I was looking for, thanks.
Greeting from CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Great info and Channel lots of useful info. Will be donating w/ PayPal
hi, thanks for the video. i might be 3yrs later and i dont know if anyone else said something about the link in your description no being clickable.i mean the video about GAIN SETTING IN DEPTH.....😟
TOP. Is possible to change for anothers controls?
Thanks.
the best channel, thanks bro!
How do you do it now Tom. I don't have these options on my go app.? 🤔
Keep posting great stuff!
Thumbs up! Really helpful! :)
What if you want to change the overall speed of the P3P? Is there a way I could fly at say 2mph for example?
U R my Favorite drone guy Tom. A bit cash poor myself at the meoment, but I'll take care of you soon enough. Keep'm comin'
great video, thank you!

Do i have to be connected to the Drone to make this change of YAW please?
Thank you for this video Tom . Greate wekeend
what is your setting for the yaw endpoint?
Hi
just tried this setting the Yaw to 0.37 but every time I go of the page and back On it has changed back 0.40 do I have to do this every time I use it or is there a way of storing the setting.
P you have to do it with the drone connected. I think the settings are stored in the drone actually.
gut gemacht, weiter so.danke fuer das gute Video
Good Work !
Sehr hilfreich, danke.

Good morning, how can you have a video so fluid? I also have a Dji Ph3 Pro, but when I see it on my iMac stutters. Thank you!
+Krun Face Try recording at 1080p@60 instead of the default 1440p@30. Higher framerates generally mean smoother video, so just try upping the FPS for a small sacrifice of resolution.
So all of the expo rudder setting that you compared were shown with the left stick pushed all the way over to the right?
Yeah, he didn't give any information on this, which renders all of the results basically useless (from a scientific perspective) since any yaw rate can be achieved using any of the expo settings (they just may require differing amounts of stick displacement). thank you bro)
Is anybody else having trouble extending the sticks ? 1:30 I feel like is impossible.
They are pretty tight to first off. Takes a little torque.
