James Baldwin sailed his Triton round the world in 1987. After returning he set out on another circumnavigation. This one was 15 years! He still owns the boat today. Sailing Uma has Pearson 36. They spent a year above the Arctic Circle. Great boats!!!!

I have a 1985 Pearson 303 and love her. Pearson made some great boats and I'm in the market for the 37. It hits many of our sailing upgrades. Cheers from Eastern Pa.

I own a Pearson 40 designed by Bill Shaw love the boat built like a tank and points well. The 37 is out of this world GREAT boat probably one of the best designs for Pearson.

    Crewed on then owned a 1974 Pearson 10M, #22.
Was one of the most seaworthy boats I will ever set foot on. Instills absolute confidence in all conditions. 25kts sustained? Maybe start thinking about putting a reef in.
This was on San Francisco Bay between the years of 2008 and this year.
Today she lives down the coast in the Santa Cruz area with a young family enjoying her as much as the previous owners and I did.
For a boat that turned 50 this year she probably has another 50 years to go.

It’s quite interesting what is a coastal cruiser. It suggests, not off shore, certainly not crossing the Atlantic.
Yet, if I think of cruising the Caribbean from Florida down to Trinidad, island hopping, this boat appears to check all the boxes.
And with modern navigation tools and weather touting, I doubt this sailboat would have any trouble crossing the Atlantic.
I own a 1963 Seawind 30 (monohull) what is widely considered a world cruiser, and Hull #1 has proved this right away. Yet these more modern coastal cruisers are very capable boats and I would not hesitate to go the distance with them.
    Good review. Beautiful boat.

The Pearson 35 may be a good next review for you. This video is right in the strike zone, good detail sensible points.

This past December I bought my first boat, a Pearson 40, I finally started working on it, I had to remove 40+ years of old paint. I'm excited to put it in the water and learn to sail..

Loved the piece on the P37. We have a fleet of Pearson 26/26OD s on Lake Travis Texas and some of them are 50 years old. We race and cruise them.

Like Hartley, a prolific designer. Another boat I'd love to find a good example of. 1980s - early 90s boats are just cool, builders hadn't discovered 'bling', form followed function more. No doubt I'd have more fun racing one of these Thursday nights than the heavy 40 I'm currently crewing too. Thanks Tim.

Raced one in the '80s in Lake Superior and always did well.

Came across this while searching for information on my Pearson 36.2. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and was impressed by the substantive changes in the 37.2. Has Practical Sailor done any reviews on the 36.2?

Is that a wave machine option on the head sole at 9:35 in the video? Or is the boat sinking?

I wonder if you could get a performance enhancement with those blisters, kind of like a golf ball texture. Any boats ever try that on purpose?

Well...no boat ever sank because of blisters....so are you saying leave them or dig out like a golf ball?

    • @UncleJoeLITE
      @UncleJoeLITE หลายเดือนก่อน

@@hypnocracy6102 Agreed, but blisters by definition stretch & weaken the surface of the hull. They aren't the problem per se, but can point to a future one. All depends on price I guess. Cheers.

Tim, you work hard (at least 3 vidoes/week), but you are being underutilized by practical sailor. Just reading their published reviews does you no justice. Maybe you could add some of your own personal insite about all these classics instead of reading something that is over ten years old. I would suggest some boats that I would like some information and a perspective on, but I have already read all the practical sailor reviews of the one's I like at least a half dozen times. What I would like to see in these reviews is an update on the current market, what kind of updates and design flaws need to be corrected, what parts wear out with a couple of decades of wear. That is where you expertese is useful. If the only thing they let you do is read their copy, suggest that they employ an attractive young female to take you place, they would get more views that way. I think your doing all these vidoes has broadened your creativity on your own channel. That Hobie video was wonderful.
