Only a minute into the video and man, I gotta say, what an awesome job! I always love seeing these custom rig builds, so interesting to see all of the different solutions that everyone comes up with. Imagine what you could do with your next build! Happy racing brother.
I built a similar rig out of wood. Mostly 6x6s and 1/2 ply. It stood up to my Logitech g29 pedals and wheel with no trouble whatsoever. I got loadcell pedals and managed to re-engineer it to put up with 60kg consistently after a couple iterations. I now upgraded to a 23nm direct drive wheelbase. Regular wood screws kept failing. Got some bigger wood lag screws and that worked for a while. Eventually they failed too. The screws work their way out, strip the wood or just break eventually. Morale of the story being wood rigs are great and would be my recommendation for anyone starting out sim racing with some minor diy skills. It’ll save you hundreds of dollars. However they don’t equal an aluminum profile rig if you want to run a high power direct drive and loadcell pedals. Side note; unlike almost anyone I actually use around 20nm most of the time. If you are like most people and only usually run 5-13nm, wood will be great and do the job forever.
Really appreciate you mentioning if people use 5-13 nm it should be good I was being turned away from wood reading your comment but i only use 8nm then saw the end 😂👍
@@RonRon0110 In my personal opinion and experience the only sim rigs worth getting are diy wood rigs or aluminum profile rigs. The latter being superior in strength, ridgidity and longevity but quite a lot more expensive. If you go with aluminum profile be aware that any rig using pieces bigger than 4080 is pointless additional weight. 4080 profiles have zero flex, even using a 23nm DD and 200kg loadcell pedals. The only flex present on some 4080 rigs is in a poorly designed pedal tray or wheelbase mount plate. Both of which can be replaced for less than the upgrade cost of going to the next level up of profile rig. I bought a Gt Omega prime pedal tray and wheelbase front mount for about $90 each that I screwed onto my wood rig and solved the ridgidity issues.
Awesome looking rig. Best way to go. All that aluminum commercial rig units are way too expensive. Love the shower slip bar too! That has my brain thinking about using one vertically like in a shower to get in and out of the seat. Locking casters too to move it around. Sweet man. I have the same webcam....for streaming lectures...works great.
I know its from forever ago, but any schematics as far as size of lumbar and amount of each needed? Ball park maybe? I love the way this one looks all completed. Good work
Nicely done. I built one years ago, the problem was, over time, my fat butt made it all creak and groan. Got pretty noisy after a while so I just disassembled it and bought metal rigs.
Really solid.. i was thinking about making one myself for a long time. But i will tray to make it foldable to store it since i will be using my living room tv. Casual play only, not so hardcore competitive
i really wish someone would make a plan with woods to make something like this. I am pretty amauter at building htis from scratch but def would do a project like this to save money and also be proud that i made it myself.
Hey there man I needed the measurements I made the base to big and I had to re do it but I don’t know the measurements can you please tell me them thanks!😊
Even doh this video is older now, i have a diy alu rig for about 300€. I know it is much more, but i thought, better do it once right and have peace of mind then tinker with it all the time. But this is really a nice looking rig i have to say.
I think the rig is good, great value for money and assuming it's as solid as it looks, nice one. Pedals, I'd be tempted to look for the original Clubsport pedals, they're a bombproof design and it's simple to replace and cheap to replace the load cell if it's ever necessary. Probably wouldn't cost anything given you could easily sell yours. I like TM wheelbases, i had the TS-PC/F488 wheel and a set of T3PA with a load cell mod and later another set with a prototype load cell (only 40kgs but very precise, give my weight hovers around 50kgs a 40kgs load cell was plenty) like your secondary screens, and display. It's a great rig buddy. I'm severely space restricted at present but should be getting the spare room for my gaming room soon. I'd love to build my own rig but I'm not sure my health is up to it. Have you considered going direct drive? Your rig looks like it could cope with 10Nm possibly with an extra brace here and there.
cool rig, do you sit comfortable in it, is there a way you have a video on how to build it, cuz i thinking about building one and i really like this one :)
Hello. This is very nicely done. I'm looking to build another wooden rig and I like this design. My one question is about the uprights for the wheel deck. Did you not stabilise it in anyway to help with side-to-side flex? Sorry if I missed out something.
Hey Joey, to try to answer your question, not really. The two 2x4s on each side do very well on their own with no flex or bend. I've got two 4" wood screws in the base of each 2x4. I hope that helps!
Thank you! When I moved last year, I ended up having to break it down. At that time, it was still holding very strong. Sometime down the road, I'll probably build another and be sure to make a how-to video for it
Any advice on building one of these and making it STRONG? Particularly things like how is best to create joints, right angles, joining pieces together, etc. Cheers!
This is honestly the only way to go, trying to justify thousands on a sim rig is insane. It is supposed to be affordable that's why we do the simrig and not a real car. Anyway i am making my won rig based off the P1X Pro, it will slide and adjust like it should and I am building it out of scrap wood that I got for free, just a lot of elbow grease and time. So far I have made money on this project as I've spent nothing and was able to work on it during work hours.
That’s a pretty awesome job you did there! I built one 1.5 yrs ago, but I use an office chair with it, I’m going to finish it with a good stable seat, also have been looking at the NRG seats. Do you still race? Thanks for sharing. W
@@zicburd si sos ser tan amable deberías aser un review de como crear uno así la verdad tengo todo el día buscando y este es el único que se me ase mejor
The seat is the only bit I’d say is not under $70. To be fair if you’ve got the skills to do this then just purchasing a few lengths of aluminium extrusion and some connectors could also be done fairly cheaply always surprises me the markup some company’s charge for a few bits of that stuff the seat itself is usually the expensive part if you can get hold of a seat and the runners for it from a scrap car the rest is fairly easy to put together.
Hey man great video! Looking for inspiration to build my own and this is great stuff! Maybe something to consider in the future, no idea whether this is due to your mic or because you don't want to wake the neighbours or something but it feels like you're scared to speak up, don't know if you get what I mean? :p In any way have confidence in yourself, speak up, what you have to say is interesting and is worth saying in engaging way! keep it up!
The first part is because I'm too far away from the phone lol. The second part is some kind of condenser that is applied. Either way, I can definitely fix in post!
The cost of the frame means nothing. When you build a NRG seat, 49" curved monitor, wheel/pedal combo, speakers, PC, tablet, and speakers for under $100 I'll be impressed.
By far the best wooden setup I’ve seen and likely will recreate a similar one ! Awesome
this is the nicest wood sim rig I have seen while researching. Good job on this thing!!

How long did you make it?
What’s the length/width? Going to recreate this but need to know where to start
How much flex did you find in the wheel deck + pedal plate? Thanks

you should get a usb c hub or something so you can plug everything in with a single cable except the hdmi ofcourse
Nice, but the 2x10s seems like overkill.
It's very nice, I just wish that I were as handy. It'll probably cost me twice as much if I tried it because I'll make mistakes, lol.
Very nice .can we have a tutorial and blue prints if you don't mind
Any advice on building one of these and making it STRONG? Particularly things like how is best to create joints, right angles, joining pieces together, etc. Cheers!
Hey Deao! The standard 2x4s seem to hold very well. I used 4x4s in each corner to give it extra durability. Hope that helps!
Thanks! Do you ever feel that the rig needs triangular supports on the wheel deck columns?
Ooh also, do you think stacking two 2x4s to make the base and wheel columns is essential? And how did you join them together?
I have a similar set up and I have my wheel deck on a triangle support. Rock solid. Also, I pulled a car seat from a Mazda rx8
If you just use screws, also spend a couple of bucks and use wood glue with the screws, it will add a ton of strength to the connection.
I would like to raise my seat height with a wooden platform under my entire rig. Im sitting so low on the floor its hard to get up and sit down on
buy a wooden pallet to put it on. or buy aluminum sim risers add 1.5in
Why you use a -100€ rig with a 400€ Seat?
Is it 4K lumber?
Really nice job!!
Thanks you

Ho usato solo vernice per legno semilucida standard. Due strati.
