I'm impressed - the baritone sings the rhythm in the recit as Handel wrote it "at the last trumpet" as in a fanfare motif. He then zips right in to the aria. Well done. A lot of throught went into this!
That is an exact replica of the baroque trumpet before the invention of valves. Handel's and Bach's trumpeters would have used "Natural" trumpets just like this one.
Boy..could my precious brother Anthony Milano play this piece..! .so beautifully..Actually he played this the best I have ever heard..!! Was so talented..now he is playing for our Lord Jesus in Heaven..! Anthony was also a minister of The Gospel..! Miss him so much..!
Yet again.....the lightness of delivery, eschewing ponderous oversinging ,means this soloist and choir and orchestra do complete justice to Handel's masterpiece . Hope they can perform his other great oratorios in due course.
I'm looking forward to meeting several of the better-known biblical characters but maybe few more than the great musicians who died before I was born. Who can think of musicians with whom you expect to enjoy "rubbing shoulders" more than with Bach and Handel?
Mr. Blumberg sings this beautifully; but other than the thrilling final cadenza there doesn’t seem to be much additional ornamentation in the second iteration of the “A” section. Part of the joy of a da capo aria is the freedom to cut loose with some flash the second time through. We don’t always want fireworks, but a little sumpin’ sumpin’ is appreciated.
A valveless trumpet from the Baroque period, probably a modern made replica. Takes some mastery, since the pitches all have to be attained with lip position. This trumpeter is outstanding.
great trumpet playing....phantastic intonation...excellent tone quality....bravissimo !!!
Trumpet perfection!
How joyful! Truly is the Good news.
Amen! And beautiful are the feet that bring (that) Good News!🤗🙌
Love this aria. Such a beautiful dynamic between the baritone and trumpet
So musically controlled. Wonderful interpretation.😊

This rendition is almost as good as Dashon Burton’s . All glory to God !
John Thiessen is likely the greatest baroque trumpet player America has ever produced. I was fortunate to hear him live many times with ABS and PBO.
Fine. But there are others.
Glorious!
So well done with those long phrases Wow! Terrific. Thanks for this. Amazing 😻
Flot baryton, og sjov gammel trompet, dejlig udførelse.

BRAVO!
트럼펫과 성악, 다른 현악기가 완벽하게 조화되어 듣기가 편합니다. 지휘자의 역량이 훌륭합니다
Superior performance in all ways. Thank you.

As we celebrate All Saints Day, this November 1, this selection from the Messiah brings us comforting hope for all our sainted relatives & friends.

I agree. Perhaps the gentleman could use more confidence.
What kind of a trumpet is that?

This Oratorio is God inspired and to His Hlory!
12:22...
Polish the trumpet to a golden sheen please.......excellent.
Natural brass is not polished. It is authentic, not a modern “pretty” version.
THE GATES OF HELL...SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THE CHURCH...SATAN, THE LORD REBUKE YOU!..
Used to be like that and now we have dum, dum, dum.
Voice is too bright for this
Music is so individual. For me, he is perfect!
A very good Tenor voice , but i prefer Jerome Hines .
Baritone.
@@petergaskin1811 i beg your pardon , but he sounds like a tenor .
