  • 1969 Mustang Mach 1 Factory Sunroof Muscle Car Of The Week Video #9
    This beautiful 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 looks great thanks to its pristine restoration and soothing Gulfstream Aqua color, and the S-Code 390 4-speed Toploader combo makes it a blast to drive. However, one of the most unique features of this Mach 1 is the factory installed steel sunroof... an option that was not offered on the '69 Mustang. It is one of 2 built with the opening roof, and it's another excellent example of the diversity of outstanding Muscle Cars in the Brothers Collection. Watch the video to learn more about this stunning Mustang!

    I have to applaud Ford for the variety of ways you could oufit some of their cars such as these Mustangs.

    Turn signal indicator on the hood - I love that kind of stuff. I wish todays manufacturers would be as innovative when it comes to new ideas.

    When I was young I had purchased front spindles and disc brakes from a man parting out a '69 Cougar with a steel sun roof. Turned out to be a Dan Gurney special that he refused to sell whole. The engine was already gone but the body was solid and the interior was there. It saddened me to take the parts off the car but I wanted disc brakes for the front my '68 Torino GT fastback.
    Two of my friends had '69 mustang fastbacks, one was a Mach 1. Easily the meanest the mustang ever looked. They are so damn hard to find with out spending a fortune today.

    WOW!...A 69 Mach 1 with a Steel Sunroof from the Factory!...I had a 69 Mach 1 but was unaware that a Steal Sunroof was an Option!...I was wondering was it a Crank Style or was it Electric Powered?
    I wonder were they any 69 Shelby's with a Steel Sunroof from the Ford Factory?...I saw a 68 Shelby GT500 with a Experimental Steel Sunroof Given away in a Contest!
    The 69/70 Shelby Mustang's were my favorite Mustang's when I was in High School and I wouldn't mind Building a Tribute Shelby Mustang with a Electric Powered "Moonroof" in mind!...I am Just Saying!...God Bless America! 😊

    9940 Mach 1's with the 390 4 speed? According to Kevin Marti's book "Mustang, by the numbers' 3391 fast backs with the wide ratio 4 speed/390 and 881 with the close ratio 4 speed 390 combo. Also per the person who found and sold this Mach 1 to the brothers this car has a Shelby connection, and that got the Sun roof for the buyer. See;classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9103&sid=064ffd03852bff0d2cee89159ffe6543 ands this is what he said;
    AAAAHHHH!!!! Part of why Brad paid up when he bought this car from us is the history! It should all be in your file. This car belonged to Carroll Shelby's Mothers doctor. She pulled some stings and the doctor and his pal flew from Seattle to SoCal to pick them up in person, meet Carroll and drive them home. When I purchased the car in 2006 I was told it was Carrolls heart surgeon who had the car built but when I tracked down the original owner that was not the case... That is in fact an ASC / Golde sunroof as seen in a Cougar (smaller sliding panel) but the doctor did not want a Cougar on even a Shelby, it HAD to be a 69 MACH. Carroll did not take it personally and since his mother never leaned on her son for anything automotive, of course he had to do it. The doctor always regretted not opting for the 428 CJ.

    Was the 390 available with ram air? There was a ram air set up available for the standard hood scoop. I owned a 1969 Mustang GT that had the hood factory cut for the standard scoop ram air, but the special air cleaner assembly was not on the vehicle when I purchased it. I know the 428 CJ was available with the standard scoop and ram air. I purchased my first Mustang in 1976, it was a 1969 GT. The rarest Mustang I could have bought ( for under 1K) was a 1969 Mustang GT convertible 428 CJ drag pack, 3:91 with automatic trans. Made a really dumb mistake and missed out on a 1969 Mach I 428 CJ drag pack 4 speed, 4:30 for $700. These were just used cars when I first owned them, had not become classics yet. Unfortunately, I can not afford to buy what I used to own. I have owned many 1969-'70 Mustangs. I really liked those cars back in the day...

    69 Mustang Mach 1 is by far one of the top 6 BEST LOOKING MUSCLE cars of all time. The design of it exterior and interior is decades ahead of its time, never mind for 69. Right up there with 69 Charger R/T , 69 Camaro Z-28, 70 GTX, 70 Chevelle SS and of course CUDA
