I bought my Boss 429 when I was in high school, about 1974. Oil embargo, everyone thought I was crazy. Lucky I have held on to it.
Nice
Good!!
Lucky!
How much back in the day
I bought mine in 1988 for $8k. Still have it also. 1970 Grabber Blue
No the 1969 Fastback is not just a Mustang. It’s one of the best looking cars ever made.
It’s hands down the best looking Mustang ever made.
@51AB awesome! My dad has a 1969 Mach 1 and it’s such a cool car. The engine is a highly modified 347 Ford Stroker. It was originally a 351 car. It’s a lot faster now though. Looks original on the outside.
@@fractalign agreed
Imo that and the 67-68 are the best looking mustang. When you think of a mustang, you think of those two generations.
@@RoloCar Agreed the 1967 GT350 and 500 are really good looking. It’s a hard choice to make.
This was better than I thought by the thumbnail I thought the car sold for only $31,000 not a 31,000 profit
It is called "Click and Bait", a well-known trick to attack viewers and get one's numbers up! Ciao, L
@@lancelot1953 True..
Most all the time thumbnails are clickbait or clickbait e or sometimes they're just dumb Miss worded
@@CaddyJim I agree but in this typical "Reality Show pre-scripted scenario" recipe, I got fooled. Take care, Ciao, L
@@lancelot1953 I was talking about the thumbnail not the reality show 👍😉
@@CaddyJim Hi Caddy Jim, roger that! Take care, Ciao, L
This is one car he should have kept seriously original BOSS 429 instead of putting this car in his collection he sells it this car is part of history you can never remake this ICON of a fantastic car
What was he thinking???
Dennis actually has a couple in his collection, hence why he sold this one.
@alexcorona Unless he has several warehouses, I've personally seen what he has and don't recall a 429 Boss. He does have a white or silver replica with off road wheels, a 68 coronet, red 71 442, (among other kinda cool cars).
I never feel bad when flippers don't do well.
They have ruined the hobby.
How so? A flipper can't make a car sell for more than it is worth - unless the buyer is a fool. Rich collectors willing to pay ridiculous sums of money for rare cars maybe have ruined the hobby for the common enthusiast.
@@gt-37guy6 I guess I feel the rich buyers and the flippers themselves are an equal stain on the hobby.
So if I take my $7000 65 I6 mustang and swap it to a $500 289 it's suddenly worth $65,000 because Gas Monkey says it is? I bought my 67 Cougar for $700 not running. Now because of these shows I can't get a rolling chassis donor car for less than $3,000.
Collectors ruined prices
@beavis_loves_you Not really, that's not what inflation is, blaming "Capitalism" is kind of a weak argument.
Dennis in his "Keith Urban" phase. 😂
When I first saw him, I was like, is that Dennis? 🤣
You misspelled 'douchebag phase'
Nice shoulder pads in the jacket.
I didn't even recognize him at first. He looks ill (chemo?) in his current videos, but won't publicly disclose anything, which is OK.
Justin Bieber era, his daughter was a huge fan.
These auctions have ruined car sales. People in my area think their 72 C10 that's sat in the backyard for 14 years is worth 35K. I bought my 67 Cougar for 700 bucks intact but not running. Now a 67 Cougar with no engine, transmission or interior is 5,000 bucks because a TV show says it is at auction.
Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.
trump lost
@@TheIbelieveinME It appears he's still winning in your head because his name has nothing to do with this video. Get some help, dude.
@@louieflash7190 glad it triggered you snowflake
@@TheIbelieveinME awwww, is big , mean President Trump still living rent free in your tiny brain little fella? Are you going to be OK or do you want someone to call your mommy for you?
@@brucemitchell5637 did you buy the NFT or how about the card or wait maybe the trump bucks to go along with your little red hat
So he didn’t exactly make $31,000 either, Barrett Jackson Georges an 8% commission to the seller and 10% buyers premium so he had to pay $12,800 to them out of his profit which means he made less than 20k that he had to split with old boy. So for all the high life he was living in the expenses of spending the week out there that probably means his profit was somewhere around 5K after expenses. And that doesn’t even count what he had to pay his help and the detailer and all that transport fees. He’s lucky if he broke even.
they make money from there show too
He should have held on to it for a few months to get the word out to private collectors and he "may" have gotten it, but, people are maybe starting to realize its just a car?
I would have NEVER SOLD that car.
Me neither...
These people are NOT car enthusiasts, they are MONEY enthusiasts, nothing more.
It sold for 160k if you look at auction results it was just the drama for the show
Just bought 69 fastback... super excited to restomod it. It's been my dream car for a while
I answered an add for a 69 Camaro (in the local paper... Santa Cruz, California). He had the Camaro and next to it was........... a 1969 Boss 302 and a 1970 Boss 429!
The 302 was light yellow and the 429 was grabber orange. Neither ran but they were complete. He wanted a lot for each (at the time 1984) but I left with the Camaro. Light yellow, dark green interior, 307, auto. Crager wheels and 26,000 original miles for $2,600.
He also had a Sunbeam Tiger. Red, black and I think that was a 260 with a 4spd.
Damn, if all my bad decisions only made 31k , I would make as many as I could.
After paying a 10% auction fee to sell it, transportation to him and then to the auction he didn't make 31k. He is dreaming.
FLIPPERS are their own worst enemies, when you find as many rare and exotic cars as these two guys do, IF they kept 25% of the rare ones they could quadruple their money, but BUT THEY clean em up and send em right on down the line,RESTORED 102 CARS since 1972,the main thing i learned,is they are ART,AND JUST LIKE ART,THE LAST GUY TO TOUCH IT,GETS ALL THE MONEY,i still have 4 of them for retirement---AND THE JEEP GUY he hangs with ass monkey so he keeps tabs on everything he passes on,which is legal, smart and a good investment,me i'm retired for real now, there' no money to made on anything right now, costs a 110 k to build a 35k to 50k car now,its all upside down and is a good time to sit back and SHOP
@@richallen5310 yeah which is why he was upset the profits and time
After everything was said and done he's probably closer to 10K profit if that honestly
@@richallen5310 B-J adds the fee to the price, not subtraction.
Can you imagine that old guy probably paid under 1000$ for that car back in the day and just kept it in that storage container for a few decades and then sells it for 127,000$ he probably was tickled pink lol
That’s what I’d call a solid investment.
What has Dennis done to his hair?....he looks like 🤣🤣🤣 Liberace!!
Growing it out …
At least he has hair
That's my dream car and I would have never let that go.
Fr
don't believe it. Everyone wants your boss when you have one. And I mean EVERYONE!
You can blame Joe and the hoe
Well there's consumers and there's suppliers. Someone has to sell it to you. Richard already has a 67 Gt350
A black on black Boss 9 only brought $160k? Everyone in the room must have been asleep.
thus was a good 13 yrs ago
No it wasn't good even in that condition was like 200k 160 is a great deal
Something fake about this. Why would someone shove a rare mustang in a container and sell it dirty. The clean up/ get running thing was missing some info. Cars like that don’t get flipped.
The guy gets paid by the tv show also in sure he gets asking price
Sounds more like they scam the owner out of the car and get it to one of their buddies
Precisely what I was thinking. 127k+31k is still less than the original guy wanted.
Oh my God, I grew up with these guys in French Lake Auto Parts. My Dad was Floyd Schake, we used to buy the mini horses Mr Nolan used to have stomp down his weeds in yard. Built some good trucks out of there too.
This Boss should have got 200 grand easy...somebody stole this baby, I mean it was an unrestored survivor! Very very rare indeed.
Everyone has SEEN what Gas Monkey does. Remember the added two tone and chopped bumpers on a one of one car. I am gonna guess the future buyer figured it would cost 70k to fix what Gas Monkey did to the car
I guess it depends what their buying it for. If its going into a musuem or collection then unrestored is better? If a guy wants to drive it, then maybe he's thinking he needs to spend another $80k to get this thing perfect.
No it's worth about 300k now lol 😆 no matter who you are or what your personal situation is the market doesn't care if you think prices are high lol
I drove a 68 fastback in high school. It was my step father's. It was fun,a 302 stock 4bl. He must have really loved mom!
It's amazing what we do for that stuff...
Daum Somebody got a hell of a deal that BOSS is only going to worth more and more.
Holy Cow is that Dennis! Never seen him that young, he looks like a teenager, this must've been a long time ago. Boss 9s are about half-a-million, today
Richard, I'm thinking you need to leave the Stang's alone, Denise has better luck bud. Much love
Paint and bodied a 70 about ten years ago and my friend just sold it for 75,000 the other day, so i was pretty proud of that.
I’ve seen one of these Boss 429s in a Odessa TX that was black. Ford only made about 500 of these Mustangs.
its weird how much Dennis changed to the way he is now and how Richard is the same after all these years
People usually dont change. Maybe for appearances sake only most times
I bought a 1969 off the showroom floor in 69 but it only had the 302.😥 But I wish I still had it.
Richard is such a dreamer. Cracks me up the price tags he puts on these vehicles.
Just cause he got his hands in it he acts like it adds like 100k lol just like his ford GT was a bust. It was wrecked and wants just as much as an original one that's not wrecked
didnt have to scroll long to find the first hater

Oh hell yeah👊Dennis's hair is amazing 😁
My dad bought his ‘70 Boss 302 for 18k. The only car he ever regretted having sold.
Yep, Richard should have known that if you do not put a reserve price on the car at auction, then the risk factor of taking a huge loss is always possible. I have seen an old man selling his dream car a original Shelby many years ago, with no reserve price and the final bid was almost &90000 less than what he thought he will get. He was so angry and told the auctioneers that they have scammed him and demanded his car back. Of course they said no and not even a good lawyer could convince the old man, that he took a huge risk and got far less than anticipated.
You have to buy it back at that point then just pay the auction fees which usually run around 25%. I agree though no reserve is bs and I would never make a deal for a nice car like that.
The Boss 429 is my favorite car of all time. I'm especially fond of the 1970. I wish that Ford would bring back some form of the big block Boss back, even for one model year before they bend the knee to the government in this nonsensical bid to try to go all electric.
welcome to the recession Richard
This video was obviously made YEARS AGO!!!! Look at Richard and Dennis!!!!!! Why just post it now??
I'm afraid that if I EVER got my hands on a 429 it would never be sold again.
You just should have kept this one what is wrong with you always throwing away the best cars for a little profit you didn't need to make profit off this mustang you should have kept this one
RICHARD DOESN'T READ THESE!!!
On top of it this video it's around 10 years old...
@@MrJohnDoe1978
Exactly...
The guy flips cars, that his job, nothing to do with the car, if he thinks he can make good profit on a car, he goes for it. He can't sit on it for too long.

That car's price has no where to go but UP!
PRices will crash just like everything else does.
Zoomers and Millenials wont be collecting these guaranteed
THey are old junk in their eyes. Too bad Ill be dead by that time so I Can buy more.
ARound 90ish couldnt flip muscle cars anymore the gold fever had started going nuts
That's a really cool Boss 429!
That profit is way off.
After fees getting the car out there and pay roll he probably broke even.
Whats the problem with the sale of the boss 429 ? Ritchard made some profit on it and thats what its all about is making a good profit .😊😊😊
i love a version of every year mustang ever made. I've even seen people make mustang II's sweet.
1984 SVO. 4 banger with a sweezey turbo. can't even put it to a 280ZX
The '69-'70 SportsRoof is the most beautiful Mustang of all.
127 spent, made 160, after taxes, etc, made 15,000 doing nothing.
That my dream car, I've alway wanted to own boss 429, since I was a little kid, I had a picture of it back in the day up on my wall. I can't never afford it. It a lot of money to own that car.

That car was never going to sell for 300k lmao this friggin guy 😆
Dennis going back 2 the 70ssssss
OK so classic car prices aren't utter looney tunes like normal in this case. Was in the hobby for many decades and the prices became fucking nuts. People over-paying for cars for many years made the current normal.
THis. Got out (flippinf muscle cars) around 90ish. Could see where it was headed, sure enough
IT will crash just like all markets do. No zoomer or millennial will be collecting these...or paying any real $ for them.
Happened to the model Ts st rods and tri fives decades ago. Now its the 60s 70s musclecars
@@gordocarbo could be, will be interesting to see. the thing is, the 60s and early 70s muscle cars were wayyyy cooler than the older cars you mentioned. consider patrick peterson and joe rogan, et al, they were not even born yet but they like them. there is a former mlb pitcher who had a 2006 GTO, a mutual friend knows him, he invested hundreds of thousands in a 1966 Chevelle. he was born in the 80s.
Man I just found one out in my uncles pasture. Been there for about 20 years no motor trans just a shell and I’d love to fix it up
I would just sell it to Richard or even better Dennis Collins, he does them Dead or Alive and at least you´ll get some money for it instead of watching it rust away? th-cam.com/video/1I7C2hHnf_I/w-d-xo.html
If you are lucky enough to have a car like that in your possession, You DO NOT run it through an auction, especially at NO RESERVE.
What's the best way to sell a car like this?
How old is this video? Richard and Dennis both look much younger than current vids
About 10 years old...
No way I would have sold her...Richard should have kept this one and restored her lovingly...
Remember, he's always a Richard.
After the auction fee, he lost money 😂😂😂😂😂
amazing how many people have written this. b-j adds the 10% fee.
Wow did he put a shine to that ryde! looks like a full on paint correction. STunning. That said, Richard's rising to the Steve McQueen level of cool.
I had one that a tree fell on! Regret the day I sold it! Repaired the car was phenomenal. I remember driving down too Wilmington hoping I wouldn’t run outa gas, my dream car! It always haunts me, never should have sold it!
Mecums actions you can put a reserve price. Most boss 429s sell for $200-$300k.
Lost money with auction fees and labor. Good deal for buyer.
Barrett Jackson adds the 10% fee, does not minus it. still, a buyer’s price i think.
Richard only made 31k , HA HA😢 , THAT PUT A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE😅
Once you subtract the commission, fees, shipping from Minnesota to Texas to Las Vegas, plus detailing and airfare, hotels, etc., you done lost money-which hopefully you cam write off on your income tax.
Ok.. what is DMAX? And, how old is this episode??? Lol
No clue about Dmax but the vid it's about 10 years old...
This amazing car would have went close to $300k , unbelievable how cheap it got in the end.
they are haggling over a car well north of 6 figures, and the guy counters with 127k after asking for 175k??
You can never predict how an auction will go.
Dennis and Richard there beautiful bromance lolol
My ‘65 Mustang Convertible with a 289 HiPo went belly up. So I sold that and went to look at a black Boss 429 for 4 grand. Made the mistake of taking my Mother with me. The guy took it out on Harlem Ave and punched it and my Mom said you’re out of your mind if you think I’m gonna loan you money for this.
They’re still hideously undervalued. They should have hit the million dollar mark already considering how rare they are.
This is from like 20 years ago….
160K..... wow. Why so little? Someone got a great deal.
There were some issues with the car. Not everything was perfect or original. So the price reflects that. You also need at least 2 people who really want the car and have the funds. If there is only 1 in the room. Guess what.
@@jackylsmith8138 I was thinking there might be something not completely original with the car. Probably not the original engine.
See the rust by the scoop? Lots more hiding in that one
160k is a TON for any old car let alone a boss.
Risky buy, smart farm boy.
30 grand profit for maybe two days work and he is not happy. Sounds pretty good to me bro.
I want Mustang Boss 429 😭😭😭
One of my dream cars .
Must be nice to have that kind of money just to throw away
i would have asked 225 for that car and let it go for 190.......
Proof it's only worth what someone will pay for it.
i wouldve been pissed if i bid $130,000 and then having them convince people to bid higher
I’ve had that happen when I was bidding, alternatively they’ve called sold before I even had a chance to put my bid in.
Whether it's cars or houses, I just hate the term "flipping". It implies you got over on the seller with the intent of doing the same thing on the buyer
old video, a boss 9 will go now to 200 to 400 k well restored.
This what killed the car hobby for the average gear head that truly loves cars people got into it just too make big money on these cars they are not worth six figures they were meant too be enjoyed buy the owner not traded back and fourth among the people that really don't appreciate it for what it is just a car.
I expect the people in that room know they are paying a bit extra and hope to make even more money on it, classic car prices are soaring, no hot rod freaks there to buy, just investors looking for a good deal?
Here's a tip for you Dude....go to reserve auctions like Mecum...

All they did was pay a guy to clean it…. Those old guys should have just sent it to Barrett.
How much does barret take?
Must be 12 years ago, would get 400k for it now in that condition easy.
Back when Dennis looked like a long lost member of the Velvet Underground.
i knew Kevin with his obscure numbers and colors didn't equate to big money.
So he "only" made $31,000 by flipping the car in a couple days? Boohoo, how will he survive?
Wow what a old video. Compare this Dennis to the Dennis on coffee walk and it’s night and day difference.
So he’s complaining that he only made what 10k on the car after the fees and hours his guys put in? Boohoo lmao
The original owner has 0 negotiating skills. Starts at 175k and then counters the 125k with 127k?!!! Minimum could have gotten 150k, counter with 160k and close. Guy got hosed.
I remember seeing a black on black Boss 429 on Portage avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with a black male driving it with a bright white smile full of teeth in 1970. I believe he was a player with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers a Canadian Football League player. I only saw it once and I wonder if that is the car as most of the football players in Canada were from U.S.A.
Selling it no reserve is insane. 1969 Mustang Boss 429 production was 859 units. TOTAL production was 1359. Maybe nobody knew this car? Like he should have taken it to a few shows. Or they knew it was going to be a lot of work sorting it out. 8 years ago..
This dude that underpays then gets the cheapest work done to get his profit at auction , tooled up looking is the worst of really all car guys, the way he goes about it also is just so cringe
If DB had a face that’s really it
Dennis and another one of his failed Holy Grail 😅
I dont think you will get $300k for even an unrestored Boss429......now if it were a nut & bolt completely restored Boss 429, then yes $300k......but a nice survivor Boss 429 is probably worth $150k-175k.
I bought a low mile ver good condition unrestored 69' Boss 429 mustang, powder blue exterior, black interior in Seattle for 38k in 1998.
Prices have gotten stupid.
