      Placing objects is simple. A little more work and you can edit materials, stats, npcs, etc. When it gets more frustrating you discover scripts!

      @@wallamazoo01 I know this was a couple years ago, but what are scripts? And yes I know google exists, I'd rather just ask someone and have a conversation with someone that knows what they are. Usually I get lost in pages and pages of trying to figure something out and then I just give up... anyway sorry there are a lot of people who will just say "google it" and I feel like I've got to justify myself :\

      Scripts are functions which tell the game to do something with elements from the engine. That is anything from pressing the directional keys to walk a certain direction, or walking into a trigger space to activate dialogue. The process is really tricky, especially events.

    You should definitely do more tutorials, this was very easy to understand and you explained everything succinctly and didn't muck about!     I'm so glad that you're posting Creation Kit tutorials. I myself want to make a custom follower and here are my questions:
    1: How do I create a new NPC follower and customize its name, looks, ect?
    2: How do I create custom dialogue options for said NPC follower?
    3: How do I input my own voice files for the NPC follower to use?

      I simply prefer how Final Render explains things and projects himself to his viewers. Nothing makes me think he knows how to do it, it's mostly a suggestion for a video he could make so he could broaden his audience, get more viewers and subs, and at the same time help people out who aren't here to be toxic and immature.

    When terraforming use drawing mode. It's way smoother than manipulating just grid units :)

    Thanks for making such an easy to understand and casual tutorial.
    Yknow, funny enough to say, the fact that I used to make Roblox games as a kid has actually made using the Creation Kit significantly easier for me, a lot of translatable skills and knowledge, at least for the basic stuff.

    I know I’m late as hell but it’s important to note that you should NEVER delete anything in the game. Literally nothing, anything you want out of the way you can just configure it as “initially disabled” and put it somewhere out of bounds. Other mods may require or request the thing you are deleting, and the game will crash if the mod can’t find it because it’s been deleted. Seriously, just never delete unless the mod is only for you, and even then don’t expect to run a whole lot of other mods

    Wow. You are telling people to delete vanilla forms in a Bethesda game? The first rule of modding any Bethesda game is DO NOT DELETE vanilla forms. Set them to Initially Disabled and move them off the map. If the game or any other mod references a deleted form the game will crash to desktop CTD. Deleting is the worst modding practice I can think of in this game. You see this kind of thing in mods by new modders. Please revise this video.

      I deleted the big tree in the middle of Sanctuary Hills and replaced it with a big static Deathclaw. Didnt crash and I have like 52 mods, all from animations, custom guns to bugfixes :) But sure, if you delete any important item or navmesh it can get buggy.

      It's probably a better practice to use this disable method when your exporting mods for other people just in case of this but if your just dicking around on your own system, your probably fine.

      Biggest reason is Bethesda decided to use random objects as event markers. If you happen to delete one of these 'tagged' items (which can be literally anything, like a bush or a random crate), when you encounter that item in game and it can't find the appropriate reference, it will crash.

      dude, I remove vanilla objects daily and no CTD for me, the only time i get CTD is with a wonky mod or load order. Hence, you shouldn't delete large objects like starlight drive in's screen, that will cause problems in the cell but old cars and brush has never caused CTD for me, maybe your load order is out of whack BC I play with 225 mods and rarely does my game freeze or CTD. It's not phrased "Bugthesda" for nothing.

    You've earned another subscriber for this one. I, too, wish to enter the realm of Fallout modifications. I've seen and heard of some pretty impressive modifications created for this game, as well as Skyrim, to include one Skyrim mod that is practically a full expansion to the game with a real questline even. Maybe with time, I could do something similar with Fallout 4.
    I think the most difficult part for me would be the navigation of all the file folders, trying to find the items and locations I wish to modify, but with good tutorial videos, I should be able to accomplish my goals.
    (On a side note, this is one of the few tutorial videos that I actually found that I can work with. Normally I have difficulty learning from watching a vid. Excellent work on this.)

    This is all I needed, very well done, thank you! Literally all I want to do is put the climbing frame dome over various areas of the map so I can make a "Poor mans Starfield" mod...
    EDIT: I am getting constant "Warnings" though, like if I move the mouse or look at anything, or sneeze... I am ignoring them and so far it all works fine

    Backside with editing landscape is that it might look broken if another mod changes the same cell, well it causes a visual conflict for sure. If we are lucky, the last mod in the load order may take over completely, but if the edit is done at the cell border, than it will cut the landscape open like a wound. The reason I am here is to find out how to make snap point to point to work, as I does not with the current meshes I want to glue together in odd angles. Those meshes are player made, from an old Sanctuary assets mod, so they might be a bit broken maybe?

    If any lefties out there get stumped when it comes to moving objects around in the render window... switch your mouse to right-handed mode. Not sure why CK won't let a left-handed mouse do the drag action with either button, but there you have it.

    im expecting someone or maybe someone one day to make a mod that allows you to sit down using power armor because it kinda disappoints me that in the fallout 4 intro , you can see a power armor user sitting down on like maybe munitions crates or something , but in the gameplay , u cant sit down using power armor , but its obvious that when you are not using power armor , the player can sit on benches or chairs and etc but using power armor , u cant do that , so i wish that someone one day who can create a mod that allows power armor users to sit down (not chairs or benches like that , something like a crate or something that can handle the weight of power armor and you can just sit on that crate) , that would've been a great mod if they made mod in my opinion

    Does anyone know how to mod gameplay features instead of graphics of the game? I'm trying to add Fast Travel to survival mode. I like most things about it, but I don't have infinite time to play games.

    You did ask abort scaling in one axle or axis? It is not possible in any Bethesda game as the base command is SetScale, getscale or/and modscale, sinse Morrowind. To change one single axis, we can do that in Nifskope or Blender or any 3D polygon software.

    anyone know why it wouldnt work after in the data "set as active file" and selecting fallout4.esm it just closes itself? Only reason i can find it it would cuz im on fo4 1.10.163 and i have CK version 1.10.162, no message tells me if they are incompatible due to version, just closes itself after pressing ok like at 1:40

    Rebuild the castle with the spring cleaning mod and the fixed castle walls mod. Also build on Spectacle Island.

    How would I change the equipment a group spawns with? For example I want the minuteman to never spawn in minuteman outfit because it's ugly, spawn with flannels and other clothes to add variety, spawn with other weapons aside from laser musket, and add a few different armor combinations for them. All vanilla items to keep with lore feel. Hoping to make them feel more like a militia without using a mod that makes them OP

    Note: The Creation Kit requires so much time to load because it is pre-rendering 80% of the graphic content you would normally see in Fallout 4. Lots of RAM is very necessary, on top of a high processor. Still, patience is key! I have been modding using the CK since TESIII: Morrowind, even that game loads slow in its editor!

    Hey final render, great video. I have a really cool request for a future build I'd love to see you create. What if you took magnolia from the third rail and made her a big stage / theatre with a lot more seating and NPC's hanging around and even make a bar area if you want. A specific theme would be cool too like how the combat zone is for raiders etc. Also you can put it wherever you want (: hope you read this

    Final, You should do a Railroad Stronghold with the Creation kit Decking it out with Npcs, items and robots, (and maybe something to help out console gamers?) Ideas for locations: Spectre Island, Sanctuary or One of the farms. Using the Shrink tool could make some really cool monuments to Glory and the fallen synths.

    nice one. thnx very much. i downloaded the creation kit knowing it was way out of my league, but i was curious about how its done.
    if your taking requests, how do you make a prefabricated item in the creation kit that is an individual item in game. like a guard tower that has turrets that is one item ,and you don't have to assemble it manually in game.

    i noticed in your new video that you made about getting the new GPU, good work btw, but you still had frame drops like mad so i tell you this...
    1. USE SHADOWPLAY
    2. DO NOT record to the same hdd as you are playing games on or the one that has os because it will destroy the recording.
    3. you dont have to have the highest settings you that your pc will allow.

Like one takes an invisible object, say a weak artificial light source but connects it with a concrete foundation or bigger size invisible cube of "interior sound effect"(like the houses in Sanctuary have). If it is, it could help settlement building a lot.

    are there settings to only make one cell visible regardless of moving around in the render window? so you can work with one cell and one cell only?

    do you have a tutorial on how to import assets and textures into the creation kit? do i have to make them with the game engine or can i use programs like autodesk maya or mudbox? also what kind of file formats are available?

      you need to grab the bethesda.net launcher i believe. similar to steam and origin

      Make sure the Creation Kit is installed within the Steam>steamapps>common>Fallout 4 folder, or you'll get all types of errors.

    Not sure if you still do mods for Fallout 4, but wondering if there is any chance you could do some re-texturing of the concrete walls that snap together and make a clean glass version of them for ps4?

    Many of the collisions have chamfered edges.

    So i did the exact thing as you, but did an exterior cleanup of Starlight Drive-In. I deleted all cars, scrap and everything. In game everything is still there. Is it because I use F4SE perhaps?

    Eh Final Render i have a small question that maybe is fastest answered hear.
    What if i want to improve on something i am making,
    Like i build this ugly island somewhere on the east coast and wanted to give it textures the next day but i could not overwrite the first esp. So do i have to constantly delete esps and keep call them island, island1, island, island1 or is there a way i can just overwrite an already excisting esp. This could also be usefull when i am trying to modify damage on a weapon from the nexus.

    This is great for model creation and world editing, but what about scripting?
    Also, when you save a world like this, will it only save the things you edited or will it overwrite everything else? Like if I added a house but I don't want to break some of my in-game stuff or other mods, should I be fine or will there be compatibility issues?

    does it have an undo option? like if i mess up an want to put it back to how it was?.....i constantly change my mind on what i want to build and where to build it and am worried about removing stuff then changing my mind...... also does what you change carry over to all games or just the one you are playing at the time?
