I like how he snaps at chat for saying they were comparing Velma and Phoenix Wright because they solve crimes, when they are literally two of the most similar characters across different genres of fighting games of all time.
Not really. Phoenix Wright solves crimes to become one of the most broken characters in the game, Velma solves crimes to get a one-use extra move.
You literally just did what he snapped about. They find clues and use speech bubbles for some attacks. Their methods of finding clues as well as use for the clues, and playstyles are totally different.

What I love about this game is that, while some characters like Taz and Shaggy have clear distinctions to other characters, the game isn’t afraid to step outside of it’s comfort zone and be unique with it’s roster. Not just in characters but also in moveset and abilities. The fact that there’s actually characters where you can’t really connect the dots between Multiversus and Smash is relieving because it’s never like that in other “Smash Clones” (Nick All-Stars just makes everyone Fox and Falco from Melee). It’s a perfect blend of familiarity for players coming from Smash and uniqueness for players looking for something OTHER than Smash.

Iron giant is like what people thought ridley would be like
As a Garnet main AND a Dedede main, Garnet is Dedede if Dedede were any good. Great tool kit, one of the heavier characters in the game, hits like a mack truck. A character who is mainly built to scrap at arm's length but does so by controlling the space the opponent occupies with her specials. The big difference is that she has half-decent mobility instead of enhanced recovery.
As a fellow D3 main i was lost in who would fit me more and i played garnet and it didnt feel right at first but i tried her a second time after seeing this and now I’m definitely seeing the similarities ty
I love her nair so much, just need to get good with it and maybe throw on an air accel perk. It’s weird how early you can get kills off stray hits with her too. You catch someone’s jump with her rocket punch and they might just die.
Nah it’s def supes. It takes a while to get it but laser vision is your gordo. It can set up into anything. Garnet is how dedede was designed, big hitbox that does a lot of damage, but supes is how dedede is played in smash. Cheese, unconventional running away, living until the heat death of the universe.

As an occasional pacman player I primarily play him up close. His neutral air is so good
They must’ve buffed reindog cuz I was getting aggressive with him. Sure I always had a fireball going and tried setting up my lightning but i would down air on peoples faces every chance I got and it netted me some nice kills. I love his air attacks.
Reindog go fucking crazy. At least in 2v2. I wound up teamed with this random Iron Giant for like 20 games and we only lost once lmao.

I've played a bit and so far finn seems like the best shitter character, super easy, early and easy to land kill moves, fun moveset etc. although for me harley is the most fun
Finn and bugz both have crazy jabs and i think no one is noticing that. Finns is super disjoints and bugz brakes armor with a constant hitbox

Finn is just like he is in the series: straightforward, rushes head-on, reckless, easy to throw around by someone stronger than him, but also able to defeat someone stronger and bigger than him.
As a Steven main he feels at least game plan-wise like villager
He has very dangerous tools but they all take a bit to set up so he keeps you away until they're set up and then he approaches. He also has moves that make it awkward to approach him while he sets up like the shield, kind of like villager's tree.
He has good aerials so he can actually combo and approach, but he'll be beaten my most of the cast if he's too aggressive.
He's also very vulnerable while he sets up so if you get in he's fucked
Steven main here, I can see it. I was personally comparing him to, ironically, Steve Minecraft. Both have a lot of stuff to micromanage (Steven has three specials on a timer while Steve has to mine blocks and remember weapon durability), both have times where they kinda want to camp for a second (In Steven's case setting up a Watermelon Steven), Steven's neutral B is somewhat simmilar to TNT, and most importantly: Steven can create platforms/walls and can get some crazy kills from it.
I would qualify Lebron as Wii Fit Trainer with some possibility for sick combos off their ball projectiles, bonus power with certain conditions (holding the ball and deep breathing) and generally being pretty floaty and fast in the air.
Wii Fit + Smash 4 Cloud. People may not understand why I'm saying Cloud but I mained Cloud in Smash 4 and I main Bron in this game and upair is literally the same move. Approach options the same. And main weakness the same: recovery. Also just like how Cloud is worse without limit, he's worse without the ball.
No-look ball throw is also better than forward-facing throw in the same way that for Wii Fit, dodge cancelling out of volleyball smack and hitting it with a move is better than just using the standard move

@@MaximumNaCl it travels way faster. Also maybe it’s just me but I find it way easier to angle it. It took some practice to even do the no look consistently in the first place tho

1- It gives him a half-jump. His recovery is bad so sometimes it's the hail mary that gets you back to stage
2- Jump shot snipes. It's so satisfying that it's the main reason I picked up the character. Idk if they programmed the ball to have more knockback closer to blast zones or off stage in general or what but it kills. On the way up it will kill them up if they're near the blast zone, and on its way down it spikes at a 45ish degree angle. Obviously it's completely reliant on your own aim and timing though but I can't wait to see shot snipes from good players in tourneys

Godly Bugsposting. He was my main in the closed alpha and still is. Instantly gravitated towards him as my favorite character I knew on the roster.
Hot take but I love that smash players are so dead set on not letting "platform fighter' be a genre that content creators like Coney are pretty much are forced to compare anything and everything to smash when they play a SmAsH CLonE just to get smashers to try something new

Honestly I'm glad they seem to be giving every character the same amount of fanservice to their shows, and I think a shovel knight gimmick really helps finn stand out.

I agree that nobody really compares to iron giant, but I feel like incineroar is a bit closer than bowser. Good buttons mainly limited by the characters speed and size
A part of Shaggy that I feel is very important to mention: He's Falcon + Limit. His Neutral Special charges him up, and his specials get a one time megabuff. Also, his sandwich is basically Blade Beam
Edit: I never really thought about the Bugs/Steve Comparison, but hearing it out loud, it actually lines up pretty well. They're both characters that have so much cheese they can pull off and still manage to overwhelm you. I think Bugs isn't as overpowering in Multiversus as Steve is in Smash (Bugs doesn't really have set up or many projectiles, so his "get-off me" tools don't benefit him as much as Steve. Plus Superman is the most broken character in the game, and Bugs loses to Superman most of the time, at least from what I've seen)

Superman hits hard, has air grabs, and intimidates you through sheer brute force alone into making bad decisions before disgracing you. He's Ganondorf, hands down.
Finn's down air is a kill move as well. You can land it with a short hop, and it does pretty nasty knock off of the ground after 100%

Fighting Steven feels like you’re fighting an assist trophy with items on (healing zone, bumpers, shield, ditto clone, etc)

19:35 Phoenix Wright is a character in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and he fights by collecting evidence to get powerful. Velma isn't quite the same, but you can see where the comparison comes from, and she could be inspired by him.

Reindog does damage, your teammates usually always finish though. Reindog supports in using projectiles and damage but no finishing attacks.

Iron Giant is Snake, at least with afterburns perk, he puts fire on ground trades damage by putting them on fire, refuses to die, can kill on Grab at high %

I main Tom and Jerry and in smash I played as Zelda. I would compare them because the switch over felt almost identical to me, as both characters can create great spacing and have strong, long airials that can kill. Super fun character to master.
I main LeBron and after playing him for a while, he reminds me of Pirhana Plant. Weird combos, solid neutrals but outclassed by other characters, and one move that pisses everyone off: the Ball. Ball combos are cool af but a bit tricky to pull off. The side special dunk does a lot of damage too but he can be hit out of it. Only time will tell if his ceiling rises but for now, he’s ok at best. Batman and Garnet are better Bruisers but he can hold his own.

Comparing every character in Multiversus to Smash characters is actually a stretch IMO. Besides a couple moves that have been clearly inspired by Smash, I'd say every character in MV is actually unique enough to avoid comparisons.

Ok I'm gonna argue this one I'm a Dedede main and once I saw his size in the game I immediately played him, I would say Bowser is my secondary but I've found him more similar to dedede especially with down B cause that has almost the exact same amount of reaction time to it that it's really easy to react to, the ability to grab your opponent and move them into a bad spot with side B, and slow but powerful attacks both in the air and on the ground. Also he's just funny, especially if you have an emote equipped as your taunts (he does a unique taunt for those)
Iron giant feels a little bit more like K Rool than Bowser. Almost the same aerial game but K Rool has neutral air and Iron giant has up-air, the K Rool’s body armor is the closest thing to Iron Giant’s armor mode in smash, and anytime they grab you, you either take 60% or just die.

I maintain that Jake is Sephiroth. He spams forward air at you, he has a quick aerial that leads into itself, Jake’s Up Smash does the same thing as Seph Up Smash/Up Air, Seph dair and Jake down angled fair are similar, and Jake puts on as much pressure as Wing Seph does.

Sephiroth has a giant ass sword and his thing is keeping distance with that sword. Jake is full Agro and always running at you with his tiny sword. He’s Roy.

Agreed with all of it except the last part. Jake does NOT pressure as much as winged seph, not even close. All your other points work really well though.
As a samus main I agree in the sense that raindog projectile spams but any good samus player should be charging when they have time (start of a match, recovering, or short charges for close range) and using aerials to get in and start engagements. I view her less of a zoner and more of a setup character
if u stick a bomb w harley at 70 damage u can pop them up with a simple combo and detonate when they're near top it works so well
You know, as a Dedede Main in Ultimate (along with playing Snake and Sora on and off but I digress), it is the funniest thing to have been playing Superman, think "Huh why does this character feel so comfy for me?" and then hear "Oh he's Dedede" in this video and my brain blasting off going, "Oh shit YEAH! That makes so much sense." Like, it's ridiculous how in the few hours I've had with the game I'm playing him like I would Dedede. Watch and play carefully, make them play your game, kill. His air Side special off stage can be ridiculous when trying to get kills, because they get so nervous seeing a Sup charge at them off stage that if they don't make a decision fast enough I can jump off stage and chain them into another one after the first. That and his Down Special is great for stage control. Also yeah no, his Up special is nearly the same as Dedede's, the Man of Steel be Dedede.

I would bet nearly anything that there's no way we'd get an O.K.K.O. rep, but I can't express how bad i want to be wrong and for you to be right
@@jakethedragonymaster1235 yeah, ok ko isn't really relevant anymore and never quite took off like steven universe, but the show is perfect for fighting games and also has always been a crossover heavy show, which means a rep in multiversus wouldn't even be out of character for the show. If this game accually gets supported with new characters for a couple of years I'm willing to bet my left nutsack there will be at least one ok ko character in there.
The dance thing that garnet does for a neutral triangle it gives a boost and reflects projectiles
This is so interesting! I main Peach and Steven, and even though they don't really play similarly at all, they are both pretty technical characters that are kinda hard to learn. Even though I suppose they both also float and heal, I do think Steven is a bit more like Villager than any other Smash character, with all the setting up he has to do with his abilities.
If you become Jake lvl 10 you can jump in car/boat/house mode and it could be kinda op. The stretch attack could also be good if you are good with it, just make sure your enemy is in the air and then use it upward and it also helps you get back on the map.
I think jake is kinda like kirby because he comes down as a car, boat,etc, While kirby comes down as a rock and they do insane amount of damage
And finn for me is link just look at his up-going spinning attack with his back-pack is the same as link's up b.
steven is kinda similar to steve as stevens weapons can be used as platforms
Also, if you can straight up camp as steven by double jumping far away off stage up special dodge upwards up air and then dodge upwards again
The only one I can really compare right now is Iron Giant to DK, not in the sense of moves or anything like that (except the grab, they share that trait) but in the sense that they can both hit very hard and be played very well, but they also both get combo'd to the high heavens.

I think lebron has strong parallels with olimar. He’s constantly looking after a projectile that gives him all his heavy hitting moves. He throws and retrieves it all the time, he’s a worse character when he doesn’t have it, and he can even spawn a new one when he loses it.
Also in my opinion velma is very similar to R.O.B. She has the laser, the aerial that thrusts her forward while doing damage behind her, the ability to make an area of the stage hazardous to cross, a strong slow spike, a fast up air that kills way earlier than similar moves usually would, and a side special that drags opponents across the stage that can be extended via extra button presses.

Bugs is like Game & Watch, because, like him, I hear people say that he’s an easy character to use, but I can’t figure out how to play him, and I feel like I can never hit anything.
harley feels more like a cloud, kill by the top, jugle H24. but adding the projectiles (stronger than you think) idk, iv not play a character like her in smash. its kinda like a mix between a snake or banjo, and a "rushdown" advatage heavy like zss or cloud.

The beauty of this game is that some characters dont have comparisons and you can tell hes stretching for alot of these characters I main Garnet and shes literally so good and she has room for buffs and without a passive at the moment she has room to get better I love her =)

Lebron is similar to ROB imo. You can run in and do some silly combos with your top/ball and go for cheeky guards and space control with it as well
As a Steven main, I'd say he's a lot like Steve (if he was balanced). A decent combo game, slightly disjointed hitboxes, funky aerial movement options and if he lands a hit after he's set up you'll outright die or get looped by his oppressively fast up-special. Not to mention he also options for blocking with his thrown shield like Steve's blocks. Instead of Steve's big smash attacks, Steven has his passive which basically functions as a frame 1 parry for your ally most of the time. Think "perfect shielding" without the execution, but for your ally instead of yourself.
kinda fitting that Coney says Bugs is most comparable to Steve considering that when Steve was first released, Coney *literally* called him a Looney Tunes character
i’m an steven main. he is literally peach steve. especially with using his shields to create a wall which forces opponents to approach. his wacky movement and up b are very peach esk. idk i see it
Y'all sleeping on rain dogs melee capability. He has easy to confirm combos with high damage and access to kill moves out of jab. The spike is also good it can be held for a long time to position and punish dodging , the ability to gimp and extend high percent combos with projectiles is strong too he only struggles with killing upward
From this I've gathered that Marss is going to be a Harley main.
Edit: I forgot to add that as an Incinaroar main, I'm feeling oddly comfortable with Superman.
Idk Iron Giant from what I’ve seen kinda looks like R.OB. if he had armor. Like, big robot with big hit boxes. Some of their moves are pretty similar too.
i mean i haven’t played the game myself but bugs with the do whatever you want whenever you want everything combos and the auto escape button sounds pika as hell
I was thinking of Lucario for Shaggy, the sandwich for the blue fireball, the moves are kinda similar, and more personally i main both and it feels very familiar the first time i played shaggy

Reindog has multiple ways to recover(probably the best imo) and multiple projectiles. I'd say he's more like Lucas tbh. Lucas has multiple ways to recover in smash and a lot of projectiles. I main both and the comparison just makes the most sense to me.
Harley is kind of like zss mixed with snake imo. Her neutral b acts kind of like an easier to land and combo off c4 and her side b with certain perks can sort of act like flip jump since it can be used as a dodge too
I also see some Marth in Harley, mostly because she has that sweetspot on her hammer
I have only played for 2 hours and Wonderwoman is my fave, but I'm really warming up to Reindog. That fireball, umbilical cord and the air spin move *mwah* just great
