      Glad to be of mental assistance! When you’ve had these flats, you just have to find a way to overcome it!

    I have had the exact same system on my WR250X for about 4 years now and no problem. Only issue is when dirt gets between the tire and rim it will create a slow leak. Easy fix though, just clean the area.

    Curious to find out this worked out after a few months. Fundamentally spoked wheels really require a tube but hopefully your prep work proves to have been enough. I'm with you on being able to simply plug and go.

      Rear tire, the plugged is still holding air!!! The tire is now worn out and time to mount up a new one!!!

    Thanks for the very detailed and informative video Rodney. I’ve seen a few people discuss a tubeless tire conversion on the TW200 Forum, but as is said, a picture is worth a thousand words. I will eagerly await your follow up videos describing how this performs over time. I tacoed a TW rear rim a few years ago attempting to remove a tire that had been mounted for 18 years. Every time I watch TAT or BDR videos of guys repairing tubes on the trail I just wonder, how can they do that out there and I can’t do it at home in the garage. If you have a positive experience I think I will try this mod. Cheers!

      Ive repaired numerous flats on biles over the years in the desert, but not yet on the tdub. A front would be easy’ish but the rest has always been my fear, but too, with the amount of rear flats, i had to come up with a good field-fix-solution with the amount of solo-riding I do! I too am looking forward with my long-term analysis!

    Great video. I just converted by rear tire to tubeless also and it seems to be working fine so far. My question is, I don't think the front wheel can be converted to tubeless because it doesn't have the tubeless tire hump on the tire bead. I did the conversion on the front same as the rear and I'm having a hard time getting the bead to set, but even if I do there's no hump to prevent the tire from scrubbing off the wheel under load. So did you also convert your front wheel, or just the rear. Thanks again, great video.

    3M makes a Scotchfil Putty tape on rolls that is self fusing made for high voltage terminals to waterproof. It has a peel off liner to keep from fusing to itself that would eliminate sealing each spoke with sealant. It's about 3/16" thick and that sticky all would have to do is clean rim with brake clean and apply and I guarantee you no air would leak out it's that gummy and sticky.We used it on wire terminations and underground splices.

      This seems like the same 3M stuff that they’ve given another use for!

    You carry a spare tube in case your bead pops off on the trail?

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I own a spare tube… I carried a spare tube to TDUBFEST last year, in my gear bag… I do not carry the spare tube on the TDUB while riding trail. I might pack the tube, only one, a front tube, during a solo BDR type trip. Might! I’ve never ever lost a bead on a motorcycle during all my desert exploits! You would really have to be running really low air pressure to blow a bead. But with that low of pressure, you would have such bent up rim lips from all the rocks! Ask me how I know?! I’ve played with those low air pressures and bent my fair share of rims! I am not worried about the bead popping off. What I worry about is punctures and cuts! That has been my tire/tube failure every time and what lead me to going tubeless for ease of fixing while on trail! Hope that helps you!

    I’ve used tire plug kits on riding mowers for years…

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, tire plugs are awesome, but when you take your "lawnmower" out beyond the yard into the unknown, a little mental prep and recovery prep has to take place. You have to bring those "garage items" with you! hehehe
      Tire plugs have been around for years and the offroad and ATV/UTV industry uses them too! I just needed to prep the wheels so I can benefit from tire plugs as well - like your lawnmower!

      Why yes - yes I do! But the garage shop is not ready to set up yet, so if I really need one, I will have to go to work where we have one there. One day I will have one again!

      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will be that guy... But too, the bicycle industry is already use to it and their formula's and made for "easy'ish" clean up. We will see what happens when it is time to change tires.
