If you attended Sublimation Camp, you already know about this tip; but if you missed it, I wanted to make sure to share it with you. If you are just getting into sublimation, I highly recommend that you get some 100% polyester fabric to practice on. This will save you some time, money, and sublimation blanks until you have perfected your colors, time, and temperature.

This helps! I recently pressed a shirt and it looked faded and my black looked brownish 😢I could have used a test press like this. I plan to pick up a few yards to practice on from now on.

I had this thought as well (before I did my first sublimation project about 1 month ago)and I bought a roll from Walmart but the fabric was super thin even when I doubled the piece, all my ink went through and onto the butcher paper. I’ll have to get an attendant next time to assist with getting a piece that’s more substantial.
That's understandable.
I tested on old baseball pants 100% polyester. My images came out really really light. I used the infusible markers and HP everyday printer paper. I did use the Cricut heat press. I was really disappointed in the result. Not sure if it was the markers, the paper or the fabric. I'll try again with the $2 fabric to see if it helps.

You're welcome. It is called a vinyl roll holder and I purchased it from Michael's.

Good morning Delonda! Hope all is well. Happy Sunday! I found some polyester remnants yesterday. I didn't realize there are so many different kinds of 100% polyester. As it's difficult to tell in the video, did you use the polyester that looks like plush (like a baby receiving blanket) or thinner, kinda stretchy and thin almost see through. And then there's the stretchy with ribbed lines it looks like linen??? Soy to choose from. I was/am still confused 🤔. Can you give a little more detail or description about the fabric please?

Last question😂.... Starting out would you recommend an inexpensive convection oven or a tumbler heat press. I know they can be expensive.

1. The material I used is stretchy and thin bit not see through.
2. Sublimation Camp is coming back in a couple of months and I am presenting again. It is completely online and there are lessons presented all about sublimation.
3. I would not a recommend a convection oven because I don't have one. I think you will get even heat distribution from a sublimation oven.

Hi, I believe "best" is a matter of personal preference. I love cotton when I am using HTV. Polyester is going to give you bright and vivid images during sublimation.
