Hi Tanner! Love how u tested all the different products💕. I think it’s very important to note that when sublimating or using infusible ink, ur material ( make up bag, shirts, hats, gloves, etc ) must be the highest polyester u can get in order for it to actually stay after washing. As long as the polyester content is higher than let’s say cotton, it will work. 100% cotton will wash away. Dollar tree has the pocket pot holders & they r 100% polyester great for sublimating, yes their colors r dark, but I used black infusible ink & it looks awesome💕. I hope u don’t mind my input. Now I can not wait to try it on the wood shapes💕🥰. Love hugs blessings & prayers, Donna 🥰🙏💕
So that’s the trick!!! Ty, Ty, Thank you! Not sure where I was or what I could have possibly been when learning about sublimation but I’m glad I clicked in this video and saw your comment!!
Thank you Donna for taking time to comment. It’s very helpful to me as I’m actually looking to do an old family recipe he written by a deceased family member on a pot holder as a gift to my mother-in-law.
I've been sublimating on the glass cutting boards DT sells. I was not able to find any plain clear ones, so I ordered a case from their website, and they came with both clear and some with designs on them. HOWEVER... the designed ones can somewhat easily be made clear. I fill the sink with water, dish soap and vinegar. Soak overnight or for at least a couple of hours. Then take a razor blade or scraper and remove. I have had some remove in one full sheet. The way I sub on them is actually to sub onto white permanent vinyl (not HTV) that is applied to the back of the board. You don't mirror and yes, the design comes through the vinyl and visible from top! I had seen someone do it and couldn't believe it until I tried it myself. I love hitting DT to find random things to try!
I am in heaven because I am the merchandise manger at a Dollar Tree. I got tired of waiting on the weeks it took on the background check so I just reorganized the sticker department. I was hired the next morning. Needless to say the first isle I reset was the craft isle. Now customers complement me on the isle saying it looks better than any Dollar Tree in north west Arkansas. 🤩 I look forward to following you.
Hey Tanner. Just watched this video. Thanks for trying all the items that you did. For any of the stretchy items like the hat, gloves socks you should put a template inside to stretch them so the ink gets inside the groves. I sublimated socks and always use a template. You can cut a cereal box or any food boxes and use them as a disposable template.
Makers Gonna Learn - Can you please do a follow up showing how everything held up when it was either washed or got wet? I’m curious to see how these items hold up after washing.
So many of those things I had assumed were cotton and never even considered. What if you stretched the stretchy things out over some sort of form to sublimate them? I’m thinking they would be more intense when not stretched, and still look good when stretched?
It appear that Makers Gonna Learn doesn't reply often but I am hoping you will answer this. You got such a great result printing on the wood items. What is your secret. I can't get that vivid of a color, including after painting,
This was super informative. I've been using the white microfiber automotive towels for doing color tests on photographs. That way I don't ruin as many blanks
I just did this recently! I pressed four images of same picture on one, and added text for what the settings were (Photoshop manages colors, printer matches colors, edited vs. original photo, etc.)
Thank you so much for this video!!! I am juuuuuuuuuust learning! I've had my cricut a week! LOL! Your videos have been incredibly helpful when I want to throw in the towel!
17:38 hello! Love your ideas! For the wooden ornaments, did you sublimate directly on the wood, or did you prep it with polycrylic or laminate? Thank you again 🤗 have the best day!
Do you have any videos comparing results from "regular" sublimation and sublimation done with Siser Easy Subli? I want to delve into sublimation and am really leaning toward the Siser Easy Subli, the only hesitation is the issue getting the Easy Subli sheets (they have been out of stock everywhere). Thoughts & ideas please!
Great tests, thank you! I may have missed, viewed some of this a couple of times but didn't catch it, did you paint or treat the wood pieces with anything before sublimating?
I enjoyed your video but would have to disagree with the Teflon sheet comment. It's way better to use butcher paper on substrates to avoid overheating and blowout. It's been a game changer piece of advice for me. I only use the Teflon sheets for HTV now.
I tried to sublimate on a mug at the dollar tree with my cricut mug press and it didnt work. I've been making sublimate cancer items for a boutique Im a part of. How did you do the tin can when the irons are flat and you usually iron back and worth? Those turned out so good!!
Good evening, I hope you are well. I am following you from France and I wanted to thank you because thanks to your channel I could discover the potential of the cricut machines something that was not really known in France in 2019. I would also like to know where I could find the wall baskets that are behind you. Thank you and good continuation
Hi Tanner! I was wondering about the dry eraser board. If we did just a pattern with no words, cause it's very suttle, could it still be used as a dry eraser board? That would be great office gifts. Thanks so much for all the testing. So cool!
I love the video. Also they usually have polyester or blend shirts and tanks. I think some of the items you chose are to dark to last, unfortunately. Sublimation results are an unknown until it's washed, so taking all these you can and washing them a few times would be the real test of the items IMO. The white car towels they have are %100 polyester and sub really well for hand towels, they are a bit fluffy though so not perfect. I didn't know you could sublimate wood without a coating on it first, the tree turned out great. Thanks for sharing and considering items that are not all expensive circuit products.
So glad to see so many examples of different items you have tried. I was watching to see how the sublimation on wood turned out. Not sure if anything was shown, maybe the butterfly? Was it wooden? I need to make a trip to DT and try some wood items.
Great Video! I didn’t see the make up pouch that you picked up at the DT in this video! I really wanted to see how that one came out! I’ll have to test out for myself! 🤷♀️ Thanks for the great info and tips!
Wow!!!! I don’t know where you are but that’s the biggest and most organized Dollar Tree I have seen. It’s huge and has so much more than ours here in Baltimore
Hi. I’m new to sublimation! How do we determine temperatures and time to press for? I have the larger Cricut heat press and want to try some of these items out! Thank you!

Yoooooo 31 seconds in, I love the breathalyzer 😂😂 but, on a more serious note, I love your videos tanner! You’re so helpful in teaching all of the various possibilities cricut has to offer!
OK Please “be kind folks”. Question: Is Sublimation the same as heat transfers? Or Rub on transfers? Where do you get yours? Do you make them from Cricut machine? 😜👋
Love this video! I played a joke on my friend, and said let's drink every time they say Sublimate! haha, Let's just say she's speaking in cursive now haha. GREAT Video!
The oven mitt that's 100% cotton will wash out. Sublimation needs polyester fibers to hold on to. Sublimation ink cannot hold on to 100% cotton. If it isn't I'd say, for me at least 65% polyester I won't even mess with it.
Do you buy totes in bulk and who do you buy from, because most dealers on Amazon even though they have a good rating when you look at the bad ratings it’s because the bags come in in really bad shape (and they post the pictures). So I have a problem buying from somebody that’s like throwing the dice and I may get snake eyes or maybe I get bit by the snake .
Thank you for this tip! I bought several of the leopard print makeup bags for the same goal but haven't tried decorating them yet. Maybe putting a piece of heat press foam or a towel inside the bag first will prevent it from melting to itself?
Making a a cardboard cutout of the hands or close to size of the hands that will be wearing the gloves and inserting in into the glove.....maybe will help? I would guess that a size somewhere in the middle would look the best for the image.

Try putting cardboard into the sock to stretch them out then sublimate onto them
I would be really curious to see how the fabrics items do after washing.
I tried hand towels and the sublimation washed away after one washing!
@@barbsmerkar6112 you gotta make sure they are more than 50% polyester if not it will wash out

It would be interesting to see how the sublimation would turn out on the stretchy items if you were to stretch them out BEFORE the process.
This is what I do. And it turns out great.
A plain sketchbook with someone's name or design would be so cute for a little artist 🎨
Makers Gonna Learn - Can you please do a follow up showing how everything held up when it was either washed or got wet? I’m curious to see how these items hold up after washing.
my thoughts exactly since most of these you will wash
My thoughts too. You can sub on anything. However it will wash out when washed
Will the Cricut infusible ink sheets work as well?

Have you tried sublimation on white glitter/htv vinyl? And on clear htv vinyl? I have not, but have seen videos that it works!
What would happen if you stretched fabric before the sublimation process? Like the socks, stocking hats?
Hey there! Is the butterfly wood? Also, what kind of paint did you use? Did you laminate ? Thanks!!!
Very interesting ideas! I’m wondering if Cricut Infusible Ink can be used in the same way on the items that worked i.e the eyeglass pouch etc.
Infusible ink is sublimation ink.

Hello,
I have a question. Whats the difference between sublimation, printable iron on and htv in quality?
Htv is vinyl, not ink…sublimation is an ink transfer, like CRICUT makes for their mugs.
Hi Tanner from Michigan,
I am new to sublimination and excites to watch how to do it! Thank you
Welcome welcome!
I enjoyed your video but would have to disagree with the Teflon sheet comment. It's way better to use butcher paper on substrates to avoid overheating and blowout. It's been a game changer piece of advice for me. I only use the Teflon sheets for HTV now.
