  • The transnational ”Peaks of the Balkans” leads through the remote and wild mountainous region of Western Balkans. By using shepherd paths and footways, the trail winds through high alpine mountains up to 2300 meters above sea level and leads through mountains scenery, with a diversity of breathtaking landscapes.
    The 192-kilometre signposted Trail winds through the remote and unspoilt mountainous regions of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro in the Southern end of the Dinaric Alps in South East Europe.
    The Peaks of the Balkans Trail was born with a passion to preserve the cultural, natural and spiritual heritage of these communities, linking them together to create a rare journey for both local inhabitants and for visitors.

    Evening guys and happy Xmas, Lynchy here, glad you’re enjoying Darren Curtis vlog please like and subscribe. For any of you planning on doing this trip please do it. The views are amazing and it’s some experience, as you can see from my finally tuned athletes body you should all walk this. I went into this overweight and never done a trek in my life (you can probably tell). Anyway I hope you all enjoy the rest of the videos to come :)

    I'm sooooo glad this is recommended to me! I've booked Tirana for 23th May to do this specific trail - and all 192km of it! I also will not be camping and although assured there were guesthouses at each stop, I've yet to see a video on here without camping so I'm dead excited to see the rest of your journey!

    Another great series mate. Got to ask how you chose this one to do? I hadn't heard if this route so it's class to see you doing it.
    What's the process when choosing your next hikes?

      Hiya, I just saw it at the back of a guidebook I was using. Just fancied visiting somewhere different!
      Deciding on trips is always a tricky one, not enough holiday to fit them all in 😜

    Hey! thank you for your great video. I plan to do the trek as well in july but I'm not sure if I'm "fit" for it. I haven't done a Trek that takes several days yet, this will be my first time. My friend an I have basic knowledge and few experciences in hiking long distances. Would you reccomend the trail for us? how good can you orient yourself in it? Maybe you can help me.
    Greetings from Germany :)

    Thanks for posting this informative video. I'm flying out to Podgorica in Sept to walk this trail. Quick question if I may? I know you can get food when one uses accommodation but can you buy meals as you're passing through? I love wild camping and enjoying the solitude but know I can't carry 10 days' food.

      Hey, I've watched your vids!
      Good question, I don't see why not. They are such lovely people.
      I would say you can definitely do it with a mixture of getting food/meals from shops, restaurants +guesthouses.
      Plenty of great Wildcamping opportunities along the trail, enjoy!

      @@darrencurtisuk thanks for the information Darren. I wasn't sure if there were restaurants for example. The info seemed to be that if you stay at a guesthouse you can get food but little info with regards to passing through. I'm starting in Plav which in hindsight might have been a mistake as this appears to be the only place on route that you can Resupply but my flight prices dictated my itinerary.

    • @darrencurtisuk
      @darrencurtisuk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@morgs4mountains Yes there are a few restaurants, obvs in the bigger settlements.
      Teth has a decent sized shop tbh. There's no reason why the guesthouses wouldn't let you eat evening meal then crack on. Or even prepare you a take away. The income from tourism is imassive to them.

    • @morgs4mountains
      @morgs4mountains ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@darrencurtisuk this is REALLY helpful. The info about the shop in Teth is excellent. I did think that hikers coming through could boost the economy by eating but I just couldn't find the info. Thanks for replying and for putting together such great a great video series on this trail.

      Isaac took care of that. I think it was thru an agency.
      We never got asked to show them, so maybe a waste of money?
