I work as a home health aide. I work in very rush homes and middle class homes. I can tell right away if you have ever had help before from the way you treat me.
I enjoy the cool detachment that those who have had help treat me more than the overly friendly or overtly hostile way those who have never had help do.
Those who have had help know that I know how to do my job and they leave me alone to do it. They don't micromanage or nit pick. They tell me what's expected and then leave. It's like dancing with a partner that knows the steps as a apposed to someone who has never danced before. Yes I could carry your end and we can dance awkwardly but it will never be as fluid as it is when both know the steps and do them well

This is something we had to do a lot in karate training. We were running around in a circle and our sensei would throw a small plastic ball at us. We had to be able to predict whether the ball will hit us or the people before/after us, and we had to defend oursleves or just keep running without reaction. It's actually a quite useful exercise, bc now anybody could throw a pen or sth at me in school and I'd catch it without even looking.

@יוסף אריה קהן still a crazy amount of money for a 2-month course. I'm not talking about the content of the course, for me it's a very fascinating thing to study but 2 months can't make you satisfied after paying this freakin amount of money.
I really respect these students for chasing such a selfless and unorthodox career path. They are devoted to elegance, hospitality, and excellence.

Honestly this looks like a really satisfying career choice. The big deterrent for me would be having to be VERY devoted. I would still want plenty of time to myself. I'm not sure what kind of hours they work though, is it typically a standard 40 hour week? I feel like it wouldn't be quite like that.
edit: a quick google search has told me that generally they work 60 hour weeks, with one day off, and around 4 weeks vacation a year. To be fair, I was working those kinds of hours when I worked two jobs (one full time one part time), except I didn't have any days off, so it's not TOO bad.
Not too bad, plus you'll usually live in the same house, you don't pay rent or food :)

Butler's get paid A LOT of money! ~$50,000 - $150,000 a year!!! Most of the work is pretty basic and easy to learn as well, mostly cleaning. You also sometimes get a room to yourself in the mansion, free rent, free food, etc. essentially becoming part of a wealthy family.
I have never felt like I've been fit for anything like I do for this academy... I'm so full of different emotions right now, I might actually cry...

If I may justify myself, however, I would like to remind you of this particular situation: At age 17, going on 18, I need to make decisions regarding my future (universities, Grandes Ecoles, sabbatical year etc.), and for the longest time I have wondered what I wanted to do, to no avail. I believe that you can understand the despair and turmoil that have been living in me secretly for that reason.
Without wanting to bother you with a retelling of my life, I will on the other hand assure you that I am not naturally emotional, and therefore when something deeply moves me I can be... dramatic. Once again, I apologize if it made you uncomfortable.
The elegant atmosphere, the esthetics, working hard to spread joy and comfort to the tenants and guests, and being part of a group that's not interdependant... every fiber of my being called out to it two days ago, and I published a comment in the heat of the moment. I had not realized how out-of-place it could've sounded. I apologize once more for it.
After having read this, I hope you understand my reaction towards something that made me feel like I belonged. I thank you deeply for having read this absurdly long comment. I wish you a pleasant end of the week.
