“There’s incredible value to this but, the value is in using it up, not hoarding it.” Such an incredible quote expressed towards something people might think is just chalk.
@@mr.mercury4247I don't think money applies as well. The point of saved money is to serve as a buffer if your income stream is interrupted or to make proportionately larger purchases. For instance, it's much cheaper to save up for and buy a house or car than it is to pay interest on it for several years. However, with chalk or art supplies, their value does not increase with time. If you don't use your good chalk, you have to use cheap chalk, which is the same result as running out of good chalk, except you risk dying before you get to use the good stuff. With art supplies, if you don't use them, you don't improve. Waiting until you're a better artist before you use your art supplies is pointless because you can't improve without using your art supplies. And a blank sketchbook is no better than a sketchbook filled with crappy drawings.

“There’s incredible value to this but, the value is in using it up, not hoarding it.” Such an incredible quote expressed towards something people might think is just chalk.
It really is. If only I could internalize it about my art supplies.
inspired me to finish the crack hidden in my dads sock drawer the past 6 months
The same concept goes with money honestly. There is no point in hoarding money.

And also the most American thing ever, they’re all about hoarding stuff for their personal use… which has trickled down to other cultures as well
That's human behavior, not an American trait. Humans crave security and certainty, so they first want enough, then they want enough for tomorrow, then enough for next year. Check out Plato's "Republic" or the Romance of the Three Kingdoms if you don't believe me; both predate America by plenty.

I'm imagining a scene where some shady looking guy comes into class 5 minutes before it ends, slowly shuffling into the peripheral vision of his client. The students all look in amazement as their teacher walks over, starts yelling at him about being early and palms him a $20. The shady dude reaches into the pocket of his hoody and pulls out a box of chalk, calmly hands it over to the clearly anxious teacher and pauses "Don't fucking speak to me like that again or I'm cutting you off"
The teachers eyes widen in fear as he looks from the dealers eyes to the box of 72 pristine pieces of white chalk in his hand, he quickly stammers out an apology and rushes back over to his desk to hide his precious behind lock and key. The shady dude calmly walks out and the teacher only has the time to say "You saw nothing" to his students before the bell rings and they all file out, chattering to each other about what just went down.
