Piper Cherokee crashed in 1966 killing pilot and passenger,. He was trying to use Esk Hause to cross into Eskdale. Might be part of that wreckage you found. Headtorch would be cool!

In fact, Sunblesa headtorch with battery level indicating light under button. Each time in off mode,just short press any button. Green light-50-100% capacity; red light-10-50% capacity; red light strobe-0-10% capacity. 200hours for low white light brightness mode. Enjoyable as ever. A quick Q though. Few if any of you TH-cam chaps use a wind-shield around your stove, why is that? I know that the head of some of stoves prevents the flame blowing out in the wind, but I would also be concerned about efficiency of gas usage? Or is it that once you are TH-cam star that money is of no object? 😆

😂 thanks mate! You actually make a valid point. I should use a shield given the cost and weight factor. The old msr pocket rocket is really unstable and I spend all the time I have a pot on making sure it doesn’t tip over! So this might help with that and the wind itself! I’ll order one this week and see if it makes a difference - fingers crossed I’ll be out on the NY Moors Friday and then all being well up in Northumberland next week!

I prefer a canister stove. Much more stable and allows for the gas to be inverted for use in cold weather. I use an Alpkit Koro. Not expensive, but light (mostly Ti) stable and robust. The only part of my old MSR stove I use is the windshield.
