    In regards to Kaos' first story bit: My mother is a chaplain at a hospital and she deals mainly with parents who have either miscarriages or pre mature births. And yes, she puts tiny shirts on the fetus sometimes and has little coffins made (often just small wooden boxes you can buy at a craft store.) She told me that it helps bring closure for the parents and makes them feel like their child was a real person and not just a collection on cells.

    • @djmehs
      @djmehs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      My wife and I had two second trimester losses before the birth of our beautiful daughter. Both of them were boys. It’s hard for someone who hasn’t experienced it to understand what a parent goes through after a loss like that. The mother spends months carrying the baby, you’re picking out strollers, setting up cribs, painting the nursery, researching types of bottles, just getting ready for this exciting new journey....
      Then one day, out of the blue, your entire world, your plans for that stroller and those bottles you were researching all of a sudden don’t matter anymore.
      You have to decide if you want to name the baby, and if so, do you want it to be the name you had picked out or save it for another time. Do you want to hold the baby? Do you want to bury it or have it cremated? If the nurse doesn’t know what they are doing, the mother may be wheeled down the hall of a maternity ward in a wheelchair towards the exit, with empty arms, right past rooms of crying babies knowing she’s leaving the hospital without hers to go back to a house with a crib in a painted nursery that’s going to be empty.
      That’s why you give those babies a burial. That’s why you give them a little tiny blanket and hat and a little box. Different things help different parents cope in different ways with literally one of the most heart breaking thing my wife have ever had happen to us.
      A nurse named Lisa Brady was our nurse for our first loss. She treated us with such kindness. She was with us through our process and helped us navigate the process. She put together our little memory box for our boy with his little blanket and hat he wore in our pictures and a little bracelet with his name. When we asked for her by name for our second loss she made his as well. She was with my wife through her entire pregnancy with our beautiful daughter and is a close friend to this day. She impacted our lives with that little blanket and a hat in a way that few people ever had. Thank you to all of the maternity ward nurses out there. It’s easy to do a job where you get to see the families walk out together. It’s a lot harder to see broken hearts day in and day out.
      If anyone reads this and knows of any woman who’s experienced a loss due to Incompetent Cervix, please feel free to reach out to me. There’s hope and it’s called a TAC and It’s the reason our perfectly healthy daughter is here today.

We do a mass first in a large church with the coffin and then each of the family (even kids) shake holy water on top of the coffin that has like a glass showing their face. After that, we move the coffin and follow the car that takes the coffin to the burial place.

      I think it would like medical doctors in the way they don't perform surgeries on family members or people they know cause they get emotianally involved and that clouds thei judgement and capacities.
      Also even if they were allowed I don't most people would want in the sense this time you are the one who is grieving.

    (Forewarning this is going to be very long and you don’t have to read this I just felt I had to let this out after watching this video)
    The first time I saw a dead body was the most weirdest thing to see to me, just knowing what is laying lifeless on that table was alive and breathing. The first time I saw one was my dads girlfriend’s dad my dad knew her for about a year. We met with her dad quite a bit and I knew her dad also knew one day I was going to be his grandson, I always got this feeling that he was trying to be a grandfather without legally being one. He was a great man and was very kind, and funny, as well as down to earth, he was one of the people that I knew was a good man. He passed away from lung cancer and his daughter (my dads girlfriend as well as her oldest daughter) watched him pass away drowning In fluid. I can’t ever imagine how that must of been to watch someone so important slowly not be alive or think of breath anymore. My dads girlfriend also believed that we are all meat sacks that have no afterlife after we pass it’s nothing, and I have no clue what happens to me it’s a what happens happens if I pass I can see god or hell or nothing and I’ve accepted that over time as I don’t know and can’t assume what will happen when we die. It was an impactful moment in my life that showed me that people pass and it doesn’t matter who it is my dads girlfriends father got cancer unexpectedly, and even if it is the unexpected always expect it because life throws many things at you, but experiences is what shapes you and helps you realize. I saw the body when we all meet up to look at him one last time before he was cremated it was so weird to hear everyone crying when I was just sitting there still processing what I was looking at, it was also very impactful to help me understand and cope with life in a whole as I was 13 or 14 when this happened.
    ( sorry about all that this video just made me think about all that so I had to get it out)
