    Thanks for posting this video. I purchased the Sky kit a few years ago back when it was only for the 4x4 trucks and therefore had to figure the 4x2 part out on my own. I think I was even one of the first ten to buy the kit in the first place, so it's nice to see a thorough video on the 4x2 part years later.

      @@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE It's especially of interest to get a ballpark idea of the work since my 8" lifted IFS on my GMC Suburban is wearing out tires on the inside. Even after replacing all the wear items and having it aligned . Someone has a kit to do this to mine and I think its the same people . 2 ways to do it . One is for g.m. style axles . The other is super duty stuff .

    If you-all have to "winch" stuff together like that frame again, 90% of the time it works great, just looping it around in a circle. But sometimes the strap will drag different on the ratchet side than the other, pulling you out of parallel, can give you fits when sticking old iron together. The trick is to throw the strap on in a figure 8, it evens out the pulling forces a little, but if you have a real fussy fit on what you are fabricating, throw 2 looped ratchet straps on, with the ratchet mechanisms at oposite sides. Then you can fine adjust your alignment.

    That front end should come down a few more inches once you put the engine/radiator/dual batterys/ and core support back in. I want to say that 37's will clear. Atleast they did on my truck after the D60 shackle reversal. It's an 87 F-350 C&C with a 1968 F-250 body and bed on it. I stuck with 35's for practical reasons like load ratings and mileage. I love the progress! Can't wait to see the next episode!

    Great video series brother man. I appreciate all of it. Content and quality. Makes all the difference today. I have a 94 F350 idi na that I'd like to consider adding 4wd too as well as turbo. Ya ya...many say dont do it or waste of time but this truck is single family owned. My Dads (rip) who loved it. I've never tackled anything like this although I'm not too nervous but man, I'd love to get more data from you on it so I can resurrect this old girl. 4wd and that turbo would make huge difference. Anyways, thank you for series. Love it.

    This has been a fantastic build series so far! I’ve watched every video on it and it has been a lot of fun to see the progress you’ve made. I’m currently “restoring” a 1988 f250 myself and its cool to see one of these old dually trucks get 4wd swapped. I also appreciate the fact that you wanted to keep it original with the IDI diesel and can’t wait to hear that turbo spool up. Your detailed knowledge of the specs for these trucks as well as how you’ve been able to source parts has been really cool to see. My only complaint about your videos is that there isn’t more of them🤣!!! Just subscribed, take care👍

    Hey Scott, I commented on your new project brownie video on doing a 4x4 swap to my 86 dually and you sent me here to this very informative video! I was wondering when you said you did the Sky offroad 4x4 conversion kit did you remember if you did their 92-97 F-250/350 2" OBS Spring COMPLETE 2WD to 4WD Kit and when you did did you do the tab saying just axle or with a parts truck. I personally have a 1984 f250 4x4 parts truck but it only has a TTB front suspension wondering about your thoughts again thank you for such informative videos.

    I got a single cab 6.9 idi to learn about diesels and I really love it runs great I just need to get me a zf5 transmission. Does the transfer case of the 4 speed work on it or do I need everything from the zf5? thanks

    • @THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE
      @THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a lot of issues to deal with here so I'll hit the highlights -- a 4 speed behind a 6.9 IDI would be a T-18 or a T-19, and it would have used a Borg Warner 1345 or a New Process 208 transfer case, unless it's an '87, and then it may have a Borg Warner 1356. The ZF-5 came out in 1987 for the 6.9 diesel, the same year the Borg Warner 1356 transfer case came out in Ford trucks. Either an NP208, BW 1345, or BW 1356 transfer case will bolt up to the ZF5.
