I know you do great work Clint, but HodgePodging that truck together with all that strange stuff WILL NOT BE LONG TERM RELIABLE.
How do you figure that?
In my mind hodgepodges doing it backyard without all of the equipment these gentlemen have to do it right.
It seems like a respectable amount of thought and then planning went into all of this with each and every step.
Any deficiencies or problems that will present in the future were dealt with expanding on the brackets and installing the gussets for extra strength and durability will last a lifetime
People do it all the time. All the components being used are known to be reliable. Will things fail yes as things do but I doubt it will have anything to do with custom work
What's Your Problem? And for father/son bonding. That will last forever! If your feeling jealous just say nothing.
Just because its strange to you, doesn't mean its strange to everyone. This has all been done before, and on top of that, a lot of what they are using is Ford parts....
That kid is one awesome welder! They should be so proud to have a dad that helps them build such awesome vehicles to drive. Just the memories alone to be able to look back on is priceless!

I love how you work with your boys! I only had a daughter but I do have 3 grandsons that I'm going to show them how to work on cars and welding and so on! I learned those skills early because my dad showed me now almost 57 yrs old and I enjoyed every min with my dad! Today we still work on them together!! Kudos for teaching your boys some great skills that will guarantee them great jobs without having to spend a fortune for almost a useless degree!!

Glad that the engine cradle cross member wasn't too much of an obstacle. It's been a fair minute since I've been a part of converting a 2wd to 4wd. What I do remember about it was having to change the cradle cross member to one that was from a similar model 4wd and then oil pan as well since the old unit didn't have a bump in where it needed to be.
While we had the room, did a dual remote oil filter setup to make changes less a matter of being elbow deep into the underside of the engine bay right next to hot exhaust. more of a pop the drain plug out, stand up and do two filters on the firewall.
It was on a square body 1978 crew cab. Buddy Brian's dad's truck that he'd got auction bought in 1989 but let it sit at the edge of a field for the next 5 years until he had time to work on it. It was more, money to do what I want to do without the wife interfering. But it was fun and one more memory for the vault of days gone by.
To help out with finding the engine weight compressing the springs, heavy canvas sand bags. Stack them on the front frame pieces to about the engine, trans and transfer case. That way you can more easily see just how much will be needed for either a leveling or getting a little forward rake angle. Sand bags because it's easier to move those than try to bolt and unbolt the engine you're going to be using.
I took all my large utility trucks going to Alaska to Tulsa Truck in Tulsa Oklahoma and changed them into 4X4 positive track trucks. They loved them so much I was always had one or two being built so I could ship them on the barge it upper Alaska. When their utility lines went down they had to have trucks that would go in the snow. I always put a used rebuilt digger derricks and bucket trucks to keep the prices down plus it pissed off new sales department. They finally let me handle new 4X4 builds for the company because they knew nothing about converting a truck with different options to go into that rough country and it had to be right.
Tucker, welding has become e a lost art my friend. Glad your father has given you the means to keep it going. Excellent work everywhere. Gonna make some great money one day!! Keep at it.
Their pay is having their Dad teaching & loving them! They will look back years later and realize how lucky they were to have a Dad like you!!
This is gonna be a stump puller beast when it's done. Good choice going to the Cummins 6BT. I retired from a Cummins Distributor in Industrial Engine sales and application . I have no idea how many B-Series engines I sold to manufacture and irrigation applications - hundreds if not thousands. Pound for pound I don't know you can buy a better engine in it's HP range in either automotive or industrial applications. Adjust the valves and change the oil and filters, they'll run forever.

When you lift a truck, children, you change EVERYTHING. Driveline, shock length, shaft length and angle, brake line length, bump stop lengths... I did a few lifts in my day and watching all y'all working together made me teary! OH, that was because of Kevin's singing Whitney Houston rendition and giving me an earworm all day now!!

Whoaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the very beginning of this video, I could not tell whether Kevin was just having a W Houston meltdown or a gastrointestinal issue. Then again maybe C and C Equipment was doing some sort of casting call for a vocal talent behind the scenes. Whatever the case may be, Kevin certainly appears to have a very healthy set of lungs!

I’ve had my Snap On MM 250 welder for close to 20 years. It’s been great to me. I have the tig attachment and the spool gun. It’s a really versatile set up.
