I just started this and so far its my fav one, I'm making blankets in memory of my mom who I lost Oct 2nd from Alz and Vascular Dementia and she was age 95, I give them to Hospice patients. I try to do a diff stitch for each blanket to help me learn more stitches as I am a visual learner but I also like the easy, fast, stitches that don't eat yarn lol so I can make more faster. Your such a great teacher, I love your videos.

That’s so wonderful to hear and what a beautiful thing to do in memory of your Mom. I’m very sorry for your loss. I’m sure the hospice love to receive your blankets, truly special 🥰🌸

Thank you soooooo much for this tutorial. I usually use much more expensive yarn and more complicated patterns. I bought the yarn as soon as I saw your tutorial and the blanket turns out even better in life than on camera. You gave me the inspiration to do something new and as I donate children’s clothes and blankets to charity, I’ll be using this a lot more in the future. Can’t thank you enough.

You are a gifted teacher, and this is an excellent video! The way that you tell us things that we are always supposed to do is so very helpful because it makes us really learn and understand the pattern. And I LOVE having an actual square instead of a “swirl.” I hesitated to try the moss stitch because it seemed like it would be slow, but I am crocheting it practically without looking at it. It is almost like a “muscle memory” thing. Thank you so much!

This tutorial is amazing. I make blankets for our local children’s hospital and I am now starting one using 3 weight yarn that I doubled (using 6mm crochet hook). Great way to use up my thin yarn for something that is beautiful. Definitely prefer doing the Moss stitch in the round. Thank you for doing this video.

I too love this stitch. I use it frequently. In the literature, it goes by several names. Some of the names I have found are granite stitch, linen stitch, sand stitch, and woven stitch. Those are the ones I can think of offhand. I think there are others. If you see these names, they probably refer to the moss stitch shown in this video.
One of the things I like about this stitch is that it gives a fabric with better drape than just about any other stitch pattern I have ever used.

Hello! 😊 First, thank you for your wonderful instructive video! Your voice and British accent sounds very kind and patient.
My question is - Can this be done without turning after each round? Does it not look good if you don't turn? I taught myself how to do some crochet back in the 70s, but at that time I usually only did the basic stitches (single, double, triple, slip stitch and so on. I hadn't heard of the monk stitch yet before today. And I also haven't done crochet in a about 30yrs, I wanted to make a macrame dream catcher and decided to make a doily instead of purchasing one. I think I've found a renewed love for the crochet!
Thanks again for your video. I'm sure I will watch more!☺️

Thank you for a brilliant tutorial! I love Moss Stitch and use it a lot - in fact since seeing this I just had to start one of these blankets. The border is perfect too! I was actually wondering whether it's possible to use Moss Stitch as a circle? I've looked for a tutorial but can't find one so I'm guessing not?! ❤

Thank you for the great video - as always, super clear and easy to follow. This looks like a stitch I would really like to try, but I was wondering if it was possible to do a rectangular blanket "in the round" using this basic method and stitch? And if so, how would you start off? I love making blankets, but tend to do full size for adults so I don't make square ones. Thanks!
