Since you're a fan of Tom King, I highly recommend his The Human Target mini-series. It is visually beautiful (Greg Smallwood on art) with emotional storytelling. I thought Supergirl was my favourite DC read of the year till I read Human Target, it's that good!
@@TheComicBookReport if you loved Greg Smallwood’s art in Lemire’s MK (one of my all-time favorites too), and if you by chance like things like Max Payne, this book is definitely for you. Enjoy
My favorites were: - Batman: The Knight - Orion by Walt Simonson, Vol. 1 - Swamp Thing by Alan Moore - Immortal Hulk (first 3 volumes) - Batman: Detective Comics by Norm Breyfogle, Vol. 1
@@TheComicBookReport Orion is a character from Jack Kirby's New Gods. He's Darkseid's biological son but was raised by Highfather (Darkseid's heroic nemesis). The series follows Orion as he finally slays Darkseid and takes over Apokolips, trying to free it from tyranny....and things don't go according to plan. It's epic, it's awesome, the art is amazing, the story is good, buy it.
@@TheComicBookReport Orion is an awesome book. it's in my top 10 favourite stories. Basically you will see Orion rise to the highest high and fall to the lowest low only to redeem himself. It's soooo good. @TheComicBookReport
I just got the Scott Snyder Batman omnibus 1 and 2 and the Jeph Loeb Batman Omni. I’m about a quarter of the way through Scott Snyders 1st volume so I got probably at least a few months of reading to go. I like to enjoy my comics for the most part in the morning with my coffee before any video games or screen time. You really get into it so well when it’s the first hit of dopamine entertainment to light up your 🧠 instead of instant flashing crazy colors and loud sounds.
@@TheComicBookReport yea first omnibus actually! Just recently got into comic at age 34. Used to read Sonic the hedgehog and stuff back in the day haha but that’s really it. Thanks for the reply happy new year!
@@TheComicBookReport I can’t remember the exact issue, but in the court of owls arc when Batman gets pushed into the marble underground labyrinthine maze under Gothams sewer system. I love how they show cracked eggs to depict Batman is literally cracked loosing his mind. Epic and dark. Great story.
@@robslams2324 oh agreed definitely an issue that has stayed with me! Love it! 👏🎉 Well again welcome to the hobby! Let me know if you’re ever looking for recommendations, especially Batman definitely one of my favorites 👏
I love those Lemire and Slott books! I’ll check out that FF! Awesome vid! In 2023, I enjoyed Remender’s Righteous Thirst, Warren Johnson’s Beta Ray Bill, Spider-Man: Beyond, Hulk: Great Power, Night Force by Wolfman and Colan, and comics from Ted Sikora, Black Caravan, Shudder, and Zenescope. Cheers 👍🏻📚📚📚📚
Yeah I really dug those FF titles 💪👏📚 And thanks for sharing some of your favorites! I’m reading Spider-Man Beyond and so far really loving it as well! 📚💯 Happy new year! 🎉
Nailbiter, Batman: the Knight, Woman of tomorrow, Worlds Finest,Murder Falcon, Supreme Power, Superman:Secret origin and all the DD and Punisher I read. 😉 Bleach by Joris Mertens blew me away too. Edelweiss by Yann and Hugault, The journey of Marcel Grob by Collin and Goethals, The Battle by Gil, Richaud and Rambaud are my European favorites this year.
@@TheComicBookReportAction packed and emotional read, Dominick. Check it out. Thanks for all your advice and content this year. I really appreciate it and hold you in high regard. Happy new year, my friend. 🎉

Batman killing time and The Knight are 2 books i wanted to get into but as of yet have not, funny enough when both of these were coming out as single issues i said to myself i would wait until they were collected. The Art work on both are phenomenal
Honestly they were some of my favorite Batman books of the year (clearly 😂). I would absolutely recommend both! I did review both on the channel if you want more detail but my reviews have spoilers, just a heads up ha. Hope you have an opportunity to check them out 🦇🦇
After checking my goodreads to see which comics (collected editions) I read this year, these are the 10 I rated the highest (in no particular order) : Berserk Deluxe Edition Volumes 13 and 14, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind: The Complete Series, Monica by Dan Clowes, Untold Tales of Spider-Man Omnibus, Fantastic Four by John Byrne Omnibus Volume 2, Spider-Man by Roger Stern Omnibus, Spider-Man by Chip Zdarsky Omnibus, Trial of Captain America Omnibus, and Uncanny X-men Omnibus Vol 5. I will be checking out those Batman books and that Fantastic Four hardcover based on your recommendation. Happy New Year!
Oh I’m so glad hope you enjoy the Bat and FF books! You’ll have to let me know what you think :) And also can I just say I love that you shared your top 10 straight from goodreads! Well done 💪👏📚
Man I remember reading invincible for the first time it kinda ruined superhero comics for me just how amazing it was. My favorite comic this year was manifest destiny just an awesome concept for a comic. But great video as always and happy new year.
I’ve heard people speak very well of Manifest Destiny, I have not read it myself. Thanks for the recommendation! And yeah invincible is definitely a top tier superhero comic definitely a huge goal to read that entire series, a highlight this year absolutely 👏📚 Thanks for watching!
Read Robin & Batman this week. I read it all in one sitting and found the pacing quite fast (which is good) but the art style was a little jarring but the more pages I turned the more it grew on me, beautiful little book with a great and unique look at robins origin.
I felt the same way on the art when I first started reading Descender by this same creative team by an issue or two in I was hooked on the style. Glad to hear you enjoyed! 🦇
Great overview of some really interesting looking books. Of the selection, I think I'll have to get Batman The Knight and also finally check out Invincible (in compendium format, as well, money and shelf space). So many can't be wrong about this series, right? Love the channel and I look forward to more in the new year! My top reads of the year: 1) Seven to Eternity, Rick Remender , Jerome Opena 2) Palestine, Joe Sacco 3) Captain America White, Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale 4) It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth, Zoe Thorogood 5) People of the Indus, Nikhil Gulati and Jonathan Kenoyer All the best, Kam.
Hey thank you so much for watching! Obviously I highly recommend Batman The Knight 👏 also really loved invincible hope you enjoy! I’d been curious about Seven to Eternity! And Cap America White is one I’ve always wanted to check out
@@TheComicBookReport Seven to Eternity is an absolute epic. The space western I always dreamed of with Remender and Opena making up a dream team here; I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Cap White is divisive for many, and it had that ridiculously long production schedule, but I have a soft spot for it. Like the other Loeb/Sale Marvel coloured projects, it's a very personal tale and for me at least, has bags of heart.
