Thank you for bringing attention to those that have passed Omar. A true class act and why this channel stands out amongst the thousands of comic channels out there.
I'm going to miss Keith Giffen. Without Annihilation we wouldn't have gotten Guardians of the Galaxy. As for John Romita Sr., he left an impact with the wonderful artwork he contributed to several stories.
Yeah he had unforgettable art in lobo.
Oh that first book looks so good. Thank you for making these every year!
I'm so glad you finally got to read It's Lonely At The Centre of the Earth. I talked about that one last year on the NMC year-end favorite reads video and it hasn't gotten any less impactful. Zoe is an absolute delight and the world is better for having more Zoe comics.
Been looking forward to this one Omar, been waiting the whole year!!! Thanks again for these lists, they just add to my backlog but makes me happy. I appreciate the acknowledgement to the amazing artists that passed. Without them, we wouldn't be where we are. Appreciate you dude!!
I'd give 2 thumbs up for the "in memoriam" prologue if I could !
You had me at “Calvin & Hobbes”
Thanks for all the recommendations!
Just bought It’s Lonely at the Centre of the Earth on a whim after its inclusion here, looking forward to it!
What a fine selection! And so much unknown to me (only had two or three of the books)! Thank you Omar! Happy Holidays🎉🎄✨
Looks like I need to add some to my list! Superman: Space Age was my fave this year by far. Great segment in the creators, Omar. You’re a good dude.
Great pics Omar!!
The beginning really shows your love for comics and they impacted u. You're amazing omar
I’m so happy you liked “we live”. I know I kept asking you about it forever with the delays. The first issue is so good. There’s a sequel out which starts out so different than the first but near the end it starts being like the original series.
So many books I'm looking forward to checking out in the new year. I even have Lugosi on my shelf. Just need to read it.
Much appreciated - fantastic recommendations!
Love the In Memoriam - you're a good dude, Omar
Can't get enough of Top 10's!
The ongoing 2000AD series The Out by Dan Abnett and Mark Harrison is inspired by The Ballad of Halo Jones, and just like Halo Jones (and a lot of 2000AD stuff in general) it's really good.
On Halo Jones, I think what we got ended perfectly. Sure, we could have got more. But that final episode worked so well to the point I don’t need more.
Omar: if you haven’t got a copy yet, ask if Rebellion can send over The Out. In some ways, it’s a spiritual successor to Halo Jones and it’s my favourite read from the comic (and top five of any comic) from the past few years.
Given the mix of story and gorgeous art, I’d be amazed if you wouldn’t love it.
Thank you Omar for highlight the important people we lost that helped make comics so special and important to us ❤
A crime that Space Age wasn't deluxe sized!
The 77 are keeping some of Ian Gibson's work alive, Lifeboat is currently in print, not sure if any further volumes of that were completed, and a collection of his newspaper strip Annie Droid is coming next year.
Zoe has taken over the writing duties on Life Is Strange at Titan having previously supplied some covers during Emma Viecelli's run as well as having Hack/Slash underway and a recent issue of Creepshow out. Speaking to her last month It's Crowded at the Centre of the Earth is still a possibility but will depend largely on whether her brother is in a place to collaborate on it. I will happily pick up everything she works on.
Crom was out of copies of Birdking when I spoke to him, picked up Raiders and will make a point of grabbing both volumes of Birdking soon.
Great video, any news of a sequel to "we live age of" ?
Talking of Rebellion and books you may not of read Omar, have you ever got to "Charleys War" by Pat Mills and Joe Colquhoun? The story and art are probably the best UK comic ever written IMHO
I don't think the entire series in physical print, only digital
Thank you so much for the shout out Omar! I'm absolutely honoured!
It was my pleasure and I love your book!
The sequel to we live came out last year.
Age of Palladions.
I look forward to giving some of these ago! Have you read Kings Of Nowhere by Soroush Barazesh?
Damn...thats a longggg list of names for this year alone
I know this is probably a newbie question but I’d like know what are the series of books on the shelf next to the swamp thing books? Covers look really interesting
The Starman Omnibus’s
@@Zolerous thank you
I don’t think you are right about We Live being a done in one. From what I am seeing online the only difference between the HC and SC is the HC has the FCBD issue in it. Volume 2 is Age of the Palladions and is set 6 years later and I don’t think is included in the HC. But I only found out about this from your video so I could be wrong! It looks awesome and you have inspired me to get it!
Ohhh now that would be AWESOME! Thank you!
Rest in Power Rachel Pollack ❤
Bird king feels like it's in the dark souls universe
Put a B after the O and then read your name backwards 😅💪💣💪
What happened at DC in '85? I was super young and not into comics at all at that time
Crisis on Infinite Earths.
@@NearMintCondition oh, duh
FIRSSSSST
Big fan. Do top 10 funny comic, need somthing good
Oscar Zarate - Thomas Girtin😮
Y’all needa read 20th Century Men best book of 2023
I’ve heard it was excellent.
THE BALLAD OF HALO JONES is a masterpiece, period. It makes no difference this comes from his early period. That said, I prefer the b&w version.
Interesting how few big two titles are making the year end lists. Not a criticism, but maybe evidence of the current state of comics among the Big Two?
He's been doing these for a few years and his top 10 hardly ever have any of the big two.
@@trishb.6398 right, so what does that say about the quality of stories from the big two?
@@paulmcgrew2932 All it means is that There are a ton of stories to read and Omar loves focusing on other publishers than the big two. I don't think there is a conspiracy going on. We all know our boy loves his X-men.
@@mattthompson3371 thank you for the response! Not making insinuations about conspiracies.😀 I just found it something interesting to ask about.
Well it's simple current big two stories are absolute garbage.
That's a long list 😞 RIP
No Monica? Ya breakin mah heart, you and all youre guests that neglected Clowes 😩
I haven't got around to reading it yet.
@@NearMintCondition better start clearing off an honorable mention space for 2024 then 😁
We live is the only good comic kinda on this list.
Kinda. Thank goodness it’s all subjective.
@NearMintCondition only read 5 on the list. Donated them to my library. Just hate pretentious writing. Or tic tok smart storytelling. But cherish we live. Also didn't like it till issue 5
I heard there is more to the story. So I’m hoping it comes soon.
@NearMintCondition been watching and commenting for years. So wierd this is my first call back comment. I'll take it though. I so love you and the teams content. Even though I'm more on the darkhorse ,image etcetera side. Been done with the big 2 since 2020
Respect and love to those we lost. Who helped create a lot of the wonderful stories we love to read and immerse ourselves in.
'Our Little Secret' is a real life hero's tale, make no mistake. The evil villain was unable to defeat the main character 🦸♀
Looks like I need to add some to my list! Superman: Space Age was my fave this year by far. Great segment in the creators, Omar. You’re a good dude.
