    My wife and I do the ryokans when we travel to Japan. My wife is Japanese. We absolutely love the experience. The amazing rooms with the tatami floors. The impeccable service. The breakfasts and dinners. The onsens. If it's not on your Bucket List, put it on there.
    P.s. We stayed in a ryokan like this one on Shikoku. We were in the mountains. To get to the onsen, you had to get into a cable car and go upwards. The onsen was on the top of the mountain.

      That is so amazing, we just absolutely loved the entire experience, it was magical and such an insight in to the beautiful Japanese culture. The place you stayed sounds wonderful, what an experience!

    I ask myself, how is it that the japanese architecture, Art, gardens, everything they put their Heart into, is so beautiful?
    Its Art and perfection to the smallest Detail.
    Tokyo would drive me nuts in Just a few hours, but to experience the traditional Art and way of living?
    I would Love to.

    Miyajima is one of my favourite places to visit, and always have stayed at Iwaso. It’s an amazing experience and the walk from the ryokan through the park and up the mountain is wonderful, and in the evening to see the floating torii at sunset. And then the onsen baths looking out to the surrounding area (wild deer passed by our bath during our stay).

    I was supposed to go to Iwaso this year until the pandemic ruined my Japan trip. I was going to start my own TH-cam channel with a focus on history and The Ryokan here was very interesting because of all the famous individuals and foreigners who stayed here, including Helen Keller. The room we was supposed to stay in was a Hanare, or detached room, close to the hiking trails along the stream. I booked a whole year in advance! Too bad we never got to go. Wonderful you managed to visit.

      @@TwosomeTravellers Sorry for that comment. When I travel in a different country, I prepare myself to be a good visitor. I first learn some polite phrases to say. I try to learn the customs so I don't offend anyone and end up in jail or a gutter somewhere. The Japanese have so many customs and are extremely respectful, that after studying for over 2 years not, I still learn something every day. You did a great job because I learned from your video. Happy travels! 👍

    When wearing yukata, both men and women, Always "front right" = from right
    First of all, the front right is the same as a general yukata. This is "right first" and the left is in front.
    The only exception is burial clothing.

    • @TwosomeTravellers
      @TwosomeTravellers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a tough question because it depends how well you can budget. The Shinkansen saves a lot of time but is expensive. Ryokans are beautiful but not as cheap as pods. You’ll be surprised that 10k would get you quite far! Providing you are sensible with spending 😊

    I can't believe you put shoes on the tatami floor. Each mat costs about $150 (USD) each. It is also extremely rude and disrespectful to the establishment and/ or host.

      Thanks for your concern. Regarding the tatami floor, we asked permission prior and staff said it was okay. But noted for the future 🙏🏼

      Hi Athena, the doctor said I didn’t need to wear it outside. Only in small enclosed spaces and only if really necessary.

    お客さんも、旅館のお客さんとして浴衣という「ユニホーム」を切ると、お金持ちなどとか関係ないのです。全く全員気持ち良いほど等質なサービスを受けます。日本では、大富豪であってもわがままを捨て、一般庶民のちょっとした「贅沢」を楽しみましょう。温泉の「大浴場」に入ってしまうと。人種の違いなんて忘れてしまいますよ。特に、女性では、日本人の方が肌が白く体毛が少ない事が分かる事があります。

    Don't show the map when the deer is by your side.

      It's not an accident. When you put out a map or paper, first look around.

    How could you just let the deer eat that color inked map? Many deer in jp was found dead because of the "trash" they couldn't digested, I'm ending up the video just right there, NOPE

    • @TwosomeTravellers
      @TwosomeTravellers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We didn’t let the deer do anything. We were minding our own business and it came up and ate our map. We felt ripping it from the deer’s mouth vigorously or prying the deer’s mouth open to get it ourselves wouldn’t have been a wise choice. Being honest it totally caught us by surprise. There’s a difference with what happened to actually feeding the deer paper. Accidents happen 👍🏼
