My husband got lymphedema after being diagnosed with lymphoma. He has been seeing a massage PT clinic for some new ideas to treat, wearing compression hose and trying oh so hard to keep things under control. Please be careful if you have this and .and keep an eye on your skin. He developed sepsis in his leg, right before the lockdowns in 2/2020. Three weeks in the hospital, very very sick. I had an injury to my groin area when I was 16, just from sitting up from a lying postion on a doctor's table, I remember feeling the pop...it caused a major DVT and I had to be put on blood thinners for months. I was even hospilized for almost 3 weeks. My leg is now permanently swollen and discolored. It makes me feel a little self-conscious and bummed cause I have one nice, beautiful leg and one swollen and discolored leg. I need a vein valve repair....praying someday it can happen. 😢 I stay active and have lost almost 100 pounds in the last few years just to help ease symptoms. It does help. I can't wear the compressions socks, they actually hurt my leg where the sock ends at the top of the leg and makes it feel like it's stopping blood from flowing freely.

Yes! I have varicose veins, and even though I wear compression stockings and have a job where I walk about 30-80% of my day, my ankles/legs are usually somewhat swollen by about halfway through the day. Also, the shin of the leg with the worse varicose veins has an incredibly itchy rash that doesn't go away even with steroid ointments. I don't want to keep using steroids that don't really work for long, so I use a lanolin-based moisurizer instead. That definitely helps, but the skin has gotten thicker and more leathery and started developing tiny sores. I do NOT want this to get any worse. I'm thinking about having the varicose veins themselves treated, but the foam roller looks interesting, too.
Also, I have tingling in my foot on that same leg sometimes, and sciatia under that buttock. Usually after I've been sitting. I have mild tailbone pain that used to be worse until I bought a special foam chair pad, which helped, but I have to wonder if the foam pad contributed to sciatic nerve damage. So, since sciatica is suppose to be a back issue, I am wondering how well lying down with my legs up might help my back/sciatic nerve, too.

Doctors these days do not give you an exercise program nor do they tell you to lose weight or quit smoking. I asked a doctor at the beginning of the year why. He said because they don't want to hurt anyone's feeling. I think they just want to push meds and may get a kick back from the pharmaceutical companies for writing prescriptions.

I was heavier than I thought during a doc visit. I was floored at the weight. Dr laughs and asks me what I'm going to do. People are thin skinned. Dr doesn't need the stress of someone going ballistic. If people don't see the flab , too bad. Many people will never exercise either

You know what I do? In the evenings I have to lay on my back. Because I have to do that I move my legs around in the air, especially, stretching calf muscles etc. if there's some jazzy music on I put both my legs up in the air and I shake my ankles just as vigorously as I can and for as long as I can.
Strange as it may seem, all these "mermaid" like movements, especially the ankle shaking, really help.

Mine was related to trauma after a rooster aggressively introduced himself to the back of my leg with his talons and claws. It took almost 3 years to heal completely and get blood flow back to the area. My muscles seized up and I had to work through the emotional trauma of that event. Once I cleared it, I was put into a survival situation while kayaking, which led me to using those muscles to save myself. Instantly, the flow was back and improves every day.
I didn't go see a doctor because it wasn't necessary. I knew what was happening without any physical symptoms.

For quick fluid reduction, I lay on my back with my butt against the wall, legs vertical, and do the ankle-pumping for a minute on, 5 minutes off, for a half hour. My current medication is 'furosemide' 40mg daily. Seems to work! 🙂

Another awesome vid for me anyways, I love when you guys touch on the Lymphatic System and all I can find on the internet is little about that system and the bit I do find they don't agree with where the lymph is returned to the system, some say back in the blood system and others says through the kidneys I agree with the Kidney idea because the kidneys are a true filter system. So v important to see primary care..a vein specialist Avoid surgery etc.. these exercises are important ...ty

I bet this is why. My foot is my foam roller. No clue how long I would have to do it though. It's moving both legs so it has to be a good thing! 💕🎉🎉🎉

I've been wearing compression socks for a few years now. I started wearing them on my own. I have an issue behind my left knee, at the top of the calf that has never been diagnosed. Some kind of compression keeps that at bay. Meanwhile, my legs have started to swell on a regular basis. I have spoken with my primary physician as well as my neurologist about how dry my skin gets underneath the compression sock. Neither one of them mentioned anything about staying on top of the dry skin as it could lead to something as you mentioned.
