  • In this Time Lapse Laboratory video I filmed Chia Seeds growing, rehydrating the seeds, and the roots germinating. I was able to get some great shots of root hairs growing through soil, and a few great examples of positive phototropism.
    This video is one of many narrated time lapse videos on this channel.

    I just placed the chia seed on a kokedama ball and it grew completely covered overnight and it is thriving.

    I found this on Reddit and got totally sucked in til the very end, your explanations are so well-researched and scientific! I love how analytical your mind is, I can really tell from the precision and care with which this video was made. Question, can you eat the sprouts? Are they nutritious? I really wanted to eat one, haha!

      Glad you enjoyed the video. You can eat the sprouts, they are a good source of fiber, contain protein and other minerals.
      They go well on sandwiches, although I found that too many sprouts on one can make it taste wet due to the water content in the sprouts.

      Well I can’t unhear that now. I have no idea why it’s like that that’s part of the voiceover narration, and it sounds like it’s a mic issue. But it is so weird that it doesn’t crop up any other place. I don’t remember having any issues during recording…… but like you heard there it is. Opper./tunitý.

    i've only recently started growing chia after watching youtube clips like yours. mine said best by date 2019 but still sprouted. i am going to try to grow some to full adulthood. the rest i will make a salad with. Such a cool seed

      They are a really cool plant. I don’t remember if it made it into the final video, but I tried to sprout some seeds that were old initially in this project and it didn’t end up working. I had to purchase new seeds that sprouted right away. They can last well past the shelf date, but I found when trying to grow them having the newer seeds led to a much better result, and more uniform growth across all of the planted seeds.

    I’m just curious I want to add Chia seeds to my lawn. What do you think about that? Will it work?

    Have you ever separated the seeds based on phenotype, ie Gregor Mandel style?

    • @TimeLapseLaboratory
      @TimeLapseLaboratory  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have not, chia seeds in my experience don’t have phenotypic variation like pea seeds do.

    Very good video, I’ve been growing for a while and I learned stuff! I thought it was quite interesting how they had that gel on them.

    Hello. If Chia is planted on a Cogon grass area, will Cogon dominate Chia?

      Working on some new projects, I recently got lost in some edits (much longer videos) and have had some things in my personal, and professional life take up a bit more time than before. I’m hoping to have another video out in the near future. Thanks for the comment and encouragement.

      If they are above the water then yes. They do not grow submerged.

    u dont need to rehydrate them. a moist towel, a spray of water does the work (this worked for me)
