One that would have been on my list is Xenoblade Chronicles Affinity between the party members, heart-to-hearts based off said affinity, the sidequests to get each character's 4th and 5ht skill branches, etc.
I don't like his wording in the script for the Awakening entry. The only unique thing about Awakening's support system compared to previous games was that characters weren't limited to 5 supports, meaning you could get the vast majority of the supports in a single playthrough.
ImmaLittlePip Haven’t played FE4 and I’m only halfway through FE7, but as much as I liked Echoes’s cast the limited supports didn’t allow the characters to be fleshed out anywhere near as much as in Awakening. But the main cast for most FE games are great and memorable, so the spot honestly could’ve gone to a number of games. And at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference.
To be honest I prefer Persona 4’s cast over 5’s. I feel like the whole “shadow selves” aspect and themes of facing up to your flaws really helps the characters stand out much more. . Some characters struggle with gender/sexual identity (Kanji and Naoto), while others are tired of fame and over sexualization (Rise). Each character is unique but they all have one mutual goal: find out who is behind the murders and the midnight channel. Persona 5’s cast is good too, but I feel like the theme of accepting who you really are and overcoming challenges in your life makes 4’s stick out to me more
A major point in Persona 5's favor is the supporting cast and Confidantes. I struggle to remember the names of some of Persona 4's Social Links and I don't find too many of them particularly interesting, but Persona 5's Confidantes are all great and memorable, which is the main point that I think Josh was making with his segment. There's definitely room for debate about the strength of each Persona game's party members across all six games as characters, but Josh I guess wanted to be a bit more broad in that respect.
"Let's take Ace Ace Attorney and Zero Escape and place it in high school." *Shows Danganronpa* Yeah that's pretty much sums up the whole game. Though it ends up getting a lot more complicated as the game goes on.
Personally, I would put the cast of WarioWare on this list if it were up to me. ^^ Every single character is funny and unique, each one gets a little mini story to flesh them out (and makes you beat their collection of games to see the beginning and the end which is great motivation) and their fun personalities keep me coming back for more games in the series! It's like a small group of friends you check up on every now and then and they tell you a little anecdote about their lives, all while playing some of the most addicting microgames ever made! Pokemon and RPG parties are great, but I'll always be happy to go back to the cast containing a blue afro'd disco dancer, a duo of dog and cat cabbies, a pair of kindergarten twin ninjas and a 9 year old Nintendo fanboy with a helmet twice the size of his body. X)

I would, it is a great game, wait for Persona 5 R to launch though, it will have more content. The MC is accused of a crime he did not commit, is on probation, starting life in Tokyo in a new school and ends up bonding with the ensemble cast of outcasts that will be part of your group, together, they decide to reform evil adults by means of a supernatural phone app and their Personas, guardians they can summon (it all makes sense in context), the confidants are people in and outside of your group you also bond with and raising their affinity level with you leads to good rewards.
I remember the top 10 that got me into this channel, I noticed about a week later the audio screwed up(I rewatched it a few hundred times) and audio has yet to be fixed, sadly, as far as I can tell. It’s been a year since I checked, so I think I will recheck
Yay! DR made the list! Personally my fav Ensemble from DR was the 3rd game then the 1st. Yeah DR overall did an awesome job introducing us to so many interesting chars at once and they are all so unique, it's amazing! I do think DR2 is still the best game out of the 4 DR games (yes I am counting Despair Girls, even though the gameplay is vastly different).
Tales of Vesperia's cast is honestly the best I've seen in the series so far, and yeah, Rita's friendship with Estelle is just shipping, in a good way. And the whole cast bounce off each other really damn well, and Repede being the only playable mascot character so far.
That makes two videos in the past four weeks (the first was Green Scorpion during his top 50 games) that mentioned Tales of Vesperia. Now I HAVE to get it using my birthday money. And I intend to play through it with full co-op.
Recently finished playing Gnosia. Now, *that's* what I call a phenomenal ensemble cast. Sure some characters are more important than others, but you gradually learn a lot about basically all of them. Man, it feels bad when the time comes for it all to end. You've been stuck with these people for so long that you don't want to see them go... even if at least half of them creeped the heck out of you at one point or another. Seriously recommend it for anyone who's interested in a mix of Danganronpa and Among Us. (Single-player game, to be clear)

I'd love you to do a more in-depth examination of the KOTOR cast. Each is just so awesome not just the ones you mentioned: The storied and ever loyal Canderous, the grumpy but wise Jolee, best friends Mission and Zaalbar, the fierce but conflicted Juhani. Not to mention the walking deconstruction fleet Kreia, and her insightful bitterness In the sequel.
...I don't know how well that will be received. You're probably going to get a lot of "That's not MY Revan!" from people whose outcome differs from the movie's.
Re #6: I said this in the live chat...but am I the only one who wants to see Gordon Freeman and Chell as playables in TF2? Gordon could be the making of a Scientist class and make great use of the grav gun as a mechanic and either chuck items as an ammo-free alternative to attack or throw cures and ammo to allies. Chell could become the Infiltrator and set portals as an alternative to Engineer's teleporter and even provide a means to redirect firepower. (Yes...I realize they have no voices and the quips are part of TF2's charms, but it would be fun to see what voices they decide to give them.) Also...alfredo as best sauce? What a cheesy way to end that video. (runs like hell before I am maimed for that pun)

So many good games here that all had a lot of beautifully cohesive casts. A personal favorite of mine that didn't make the list is Kid Icarus: Uprising, I thought that game had a phenomenal cast of characters that played off each other exquisitely. Also even though it's much more understated, the charm of the characters in Punch-Out!! for Wii really sold the game for me, although I guess those characters don't interact with each other so it doesn't really count as an ensemble cast. Great work Josh!

nice list josh i would say some of my personal ensemble casts would be Tales of Xillia God Eater 2 Rage Burst persona 3 Final fantasy 7 and as for TF2 i would play it much more if for one little update that ruined it for me *sighs* meet your match GOD I HATE THAT UPDATE
#8 As a guy who's played 3 Tales games so far (Abyss, Symphonia, and Phantasia. Currently playing Vesperia) there isn't a single character in the cast that I could possibly forget if I tried. Favorite's still Symphonia's cast though. Also Josh what's Judith's role in the family? #6 Yeah for guys with no actual names, the TF2 classes are pretty memorable. #4 Yeah FFVI cast were great. Still like FFX more for me personally. #2 Chrom's Shepherds are still one of my personal favorite FE casts in the franchise.
Cyan works well with Gau, Celes, and Edgar when it comes to battle synergy. Celes's Runic is a great cover, Gau can move regardless of what's going on mid battle, and Edgar can jump with the right accessories. Meaning alot gets done while you charge Cyan's attacks.
I may not agree with all of the choices on this list, but all of the choices depicted are still great examples of ensemble casts in gaming, and they are exciting games.
I’ve been thinking about trying a Fire Emblem game, and your spotlight on Awakening has made me really want to try it One quick critique though, the color correction on the Josh segments seems off. A bit too bright Other than that, great video!
Awakening is a really good starting point for the series. I also recommend Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword (called "Fire Emblem" here in the states, since it was the first one) and maybe Shadow Dragon as good jumping-on games if you have a Wii U, but Awakening is a little more beginner-friendly than either of those games.

Gordon could be the making of a Scientist class and make great use of the grav gun as a mechanic and either chuck items as an ammo-free alternative to attack or throw cures and ammo to allies. Chell could become the Infiltrator and set portals as an alternative to Engineer's teleporter and even provide a means to redirect firepower. (Yes...I realize they have no voices and the quips are part of TF2's charms, but it would be fun to see what voices they decide to give them.)
Also...alfredo as best sauce? What a cheesy way to end that video. (runs like hell before I am maimed for that pun)
I was looking for FFVI on this list been replaying that and Filly Fantasy 6 lately, was not disappointed but please do go on about Kefka as best villain I got time lol

I will add that I personally find Tales of Symphonia's cast the best of the Tales series.
I like Vesperia Abyss, and Graces cast more even though I love Raine and Sheena
quick slight correction on Tales of Vesperia: Patty was added to the PS3 version of the game THAT ONLY CAME OUT IN JAPAN. So she, like Flynn, is new to Definitive Edition for the rest of us.

So many good games here that all had a lot of beautifully cohesive casts. A personal favorite of mine that didn't make the list is Kid Icarus: Uprising, I thought that game had a phenomenal cast of characters that played off each other exquisitely. Also even though it's much more understated, the charm of the characters in Punch-Out!! for Wii really sold the game for me, although I guess those characters don't interact with each other so it doesn't really count as an ensemble cast.

#8 As a guy who's played 3 Tales games so far (Abyss, Symphonia, and Phantasia. Currently playing Vesperia) there isn't a single character in the cast that I could possibly forget if I tried. Favorite's still Symphonia's cast though. Also Josh what's Judith's role in the family?
#6 Yeah for guys with no actual names, the TF2 classes are pretty memorable.
#4 Yeah FFVI cast were great. Still like FFX more for me personally.

Cyan works well with Gau, Celes, and Edgar when it comes to battle synergy. Celes's Runic is a great cover, Gau can move regardless of what's going on mid battle, and Edgar can jump with the right accessories. Meaning alot gets done while you charge Cyan's attacks.

I may not agree with all of the choices on this list, but all of the choices depicted are still great examples of ensemble casts in gaming, and they are exciting games.

One quick critique though, the color correction on the Josh segments seems off. A bit too bright

Awakening is a really good starting point for the series. I also recommend Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword (called "Fire Emblem" here in the states, since it was the first one) and maybe Shadow Dragon as good jumping-on games if you have a Wii U, but Awakening is a little more beginner-friendly than either of those games.
