And many Westerners think Muslims are bad and ter**rist like those in the conflict countries of the Middle East while in fact, the biggest Muslim population in the world is in Indonesia, and the Muslims there vibing casually just like any Western secular nations.
Nice one Jason. I used to catch those overnight buses a lot pre tsunami while the civil war was on. I could write a book about my 8 years living in Aceh. Hope you get over to Weh Island and/or the island west of it. Looking forward to your next vlog. Willy
Welcome back to Indonesia, Jason ...Aceh people are nice&friendly. Pls don't forget Tsunami Museum in Banda Aceh. Thank you for visiting Indonesia. Best regards from Jkt.
Interesting one, Jason. I see you've made your thumbnail a bit more conservative for this one. One heck of a colourful bus you traveled up in. Not sure everyone was impressed with the buskers 😂 As always a very intimate and enjoyable video from you of a wonderful part of the world. Thanks for sharing.
Great! This will be very interesting. I never made it to Aceh back in the 90's! Also the most hard hit area in 2004 tsunami as you probably already know.
In Indonesia's Aceh province in Northern Sumatra, waves reached 167 feet (51 meters) and caused flooding up to three miles (five kilometers) inland. On the other side of the ocean, in Somalia, waves ranged in height from 11 to 31 feet (3.4 to 9.4 meters). ❤
Hello Jason, As always a pleasure to watch your videos for the information you transmit, for the no-fuss manner and above all listening to the way you speak English. For me it's like a massage on the eardrums. Tell me, could you tell me what diseases you are vaccinated against? Thank you very much, Jason.
Nice and interesting video Jason. That's amazing you showing the underrated place in Indonesia. But we need more longer videos Jason. It's too short video, minimal 1 hours duration hahaha im joking. Probably dont skip part you bought somekind snacks in minimarket and review a local food when you ate in the warung. Btw i like your accent, can't wait for the next videos
Finally on Banda Aceh, nice city, pedestrian walk not so comfort, crowded road at busy time..wanna eat mie aceh someday , seem so delicous like you said sir..hope you enjoy..video bagussss
Always thumbs up for your video coverage Jason. Wow it always seems that I am there traveling with you in the way that you film. Very cool and very professional. Great place there anxious to continue. Peace to you too.
Welcome to the city with less pollution ( other cities, Maluku, Papua, etc) in Indonesia. This year I had a working trip in Aceh for two weeks, went home to Jakarta, and got ISPA the following week. LOL.
Oh wow, 9 days was my longest without a shower and it was also in Mongolia! Yuk! Can't wait to go to Indonesia though, a really good friend of mine lives in Surabaya.
Did you see the big ship that washed ashore during the tsunami, or the fishing boat on top of the house? Those were pretty interesting to me when I was there.
I travelled overland all the way from Sumatra to Lombok in 1993 and it was the most beatiful trip I've ever made. Unfortunately, Indonesia was very traumatic to me as a nature and animal lover. It was by far one of the most cruel ( towards animals) and destructive people I've ever seen! Every local I met told me that shopping malls, concrete buildings, big cities were the best thing on earth. People just burned and destroyed vegetation for no reason and view animal life as things to be used and abused or killed for no reason. Their understanding of nature and animals was like it was all a nuissance, an obstacle to remove and build cities, shopping malls and buildings 😢😢😢😢
Good thing it has changed ( not all), but younger generation now are more environment (and animal) aware. In 1993, we just started development, so that's why perhaps people see concrete building and the "it".
Banda Aceh people not smoke too much. Good luck on the bus. They will like you. No different from other areas of Indonesia. 🇮🇩 You won’t find Indomaret. Local vendors rule. Have fun.
There was no case of any foreign citizens caned in the Aceh province. However, mostly the ones that used to apply radical sharia law was the seperatists, the Indonesian Nationalists in Aceh are actually somewhat secular, and moderate. Only the ex-seperatists and current seperatist parties are hardliner.
It's easy for us westerners to forget that most Muslims are not in the Middle East. Looks like a beautiful city.
And many Westerners think Muslims are bad and ter**rist like those in the conflict countries of the Middle East while in fact, the biggest Muslim population in the world is in Indonesia, and the Muslims there vibing casually just like any Western secular nations.
But Indonesian muslim are not pious as middleast,
not if you’re educated

It's hard to imagine a wave that is 51 meters tall..... That's a wall of water half a city block high !!!

I suppose 17 minutes is short by my standards... I'm hoping to upload more videos, more frequently, so they'll be a little shorter at times.

Indomaret, Alfamart, McDonald's And everything is in Banda Aceh.
All international culinary booth you can find easier in Banda Aceh
Pity the toilet is not as flash as the bus.
It is actually illegal to even be gay in that region, and gay tourist a few years ago got whipped!

You call murders and fascists conservative?
The local supports Sharia law idiot bigot nobody thinks like as a white person do in west in aceh they don't follow liberal culture there!
Banda Aceh is a lot safer than many western cities. Far less murders and burglary. No stupid woke culture too.
