Yes, I enjoyed the wonderful landscapes and the photography is amazing. Bravo, my friend, keep posting beautiful content. You deserve millions of subscriptions 🎉❤
Totally ignorant about Mongolia up to now so thanks for that. We were amazed at how much the landscape resembles outback Australia only quite a bit colder. The really, really, flat bits are our specially.
What a beautiful experience. I appreciate you respecting their space and home. The scenery is so vast and deceptively empty until you know what to look for. The camels make you think of Marco Polo exploring. Being spoiled by the richness and bounty of North America, you ignorantly don’t realize how blessed we are to have ample water, indoor plumbing. We also do not have the resiliency to live as these people do, nor have we adhered to customs which so enrich cultures. Wind swept beauty leaves one in awe of this place. Thank you for reminding me to count my blessings while respecting that they also count their own.
I think it’s so important. Respect has to come first before content. I have a full video showing a family and the local experience (which we got permission for).
The landscape may look empty but when you explore the nature or just be in the countryside it gives you an incredible amount of relief and a feeling of warmth. I don’t know if everyone feels the same but it’s so unique.
The beautiful thing about gurs/yurts is they are free standing bc of the round design with the roof rafters meeting at a center roof ring. That rock was probably holding the roof ring down for some other reasons. I have one (that I made myself from scratch) that I've had the joy of living in for two weeks out of every year for the last 18 years. It's never wobbled or failed me in winds or rain. It's one of my most favorite experiences ever, every year.
This is absolutely amazing to see. The vastness, the beautiful skies. I hope in the next videos we will get to see the clear and bright nighttime sky. You give us such a peek into countries we will never get to see. Thanks.
Star-gazing in the desert is an experience like no other. I'm still on an astronomy and astrophysics kick after spending a week in the desert in Central Asia about 7 years ago.
Good stuff Jason, looks like pretty simple living conditions as to be expected but love those wide open, unpopulated landscapes. Definitely a unique place, I'm even more intrigued to visit. Water looks ridiculously scarce. Did you get the chance to take a single shower on the trip? Maybe I'll find out in the other videos.
Thanks Gabe! I managed to squeeze in just one shower in the 9 days. Thankfully it came about halfway on the trip so it worked out well. Most of the time we used wet wipes and bottled water to wash as best we could.
Hi Jason, great tour and thanks a lot for let us taking part of it! If you are back in U.B. please make a video of more ShoppingMalls, Cinemas, Supermarkets, Restaurants… …and also the prices would keep us interesting… …enjoy Mongolia 🇲🇳 …greetings from Angola 🇦🇴
Fantastic video Jason! I saved this one to the playlist as I try to showcase some of the other content creators as well as my own stuff. Keep travelling and keep inspiring. Full respect! :)
Jason, just amazing and fascinating work. Kudos to you for creating first class mini-documentaries! An incredible gift to get a glimpse of Mongolia. The remoteness and expanse is humbling. And always, no matter where, people are people. In that there is hope.
Well done Jason. So, i picked up Marco Polo's Travels after watching your last video. Only just working through the introduction at the moment - stunned at the history. How our world is so small compared to those long off times. To think that when Marco Polo's father returned from his adventures his wife had died! Unthinkable in these days... I love it. Thank you for your adventures and widening of my mind ❤
im very stoned and i appreciate the psychedelic nature of the chord of intrigue playing over 5:55, tbh i could have had it for the rest of the video, maybe do a patreon for stoners? good video
Great series, and quite mesmerising to see the wide open space of Gobi, looking forward to the next ones! Silly question: how dark does it get inside the ger at night? I mean, does some of the light of the starry sky filter through at all? I have a bit of a phobia of sleeping in the pitch black, so that kinda puts me off, much more than other inconveniences... oh well, I guess I'll just have to get over it anyway coz I REALLY want to go!!!😅
Honestly, it gets pretty dark. Though I don’t think it was ever absolutely pitch black. Some moonlight tends to filter through the top of the Ger. If you head outside for the toilet you’ll need to use a torch. Some of the camps we stayed at had a plug, so if you’re charging something overnight like a powerbank, that can offer you a bit of light.
Thanks for the marvelous and zen images. Could you film the starry sky at night please? And it would be interesting to present your travel companions (guides and travelers), peace! ✌ From Canada
The scope of your travels is staggering… my only question - and it’s a tough one: how do you fund all this travel? Are you doing a side gig as a writer… or are you developing software or consulting on some level? You seem to be in a steady state of chill and relaxed travel. Remarkable!
It’s not 4K actually - this video was shot on my Canon M50 with a gimbal and rode mic. In other videos I’ve used my GoPro which perhaps doesn’t look as smooth as this setup.
Beautiful places and videos. Although as a gluten free vegan I will probably have nothing eat, it really makes me want to go. Thanks for your work. Just in the future dont waste their water just for the video :)
That’s tough. It’s very meat heavy (mutton and beef) and there’s no shortage of milk drinking each day (horse, yak, you name it). It might be doable if you stock up on your own food from the hypermarket in Ulaanbaatar before the trip starts. You can also contact Sunpath directly and they might be able to accommodate you.
As Jason said, you can communicate to Sunpath about your dietary needs. I think they can accommodate that. It is going to be tough, you might feel out of place, and will not be able to fully have the Mongolian nomadic experience but if you're cool with that, then you are good to go.
yeah as the iinarrab19 says I think you can accommodate that. I have watched another person's video. And she went with her family (including a toddler and an infant). They were all vegan. And their reserved tour guide ppl (idk what to call) actually got some food for the whole travel. But they went to the north part of Mongolia, so it would have more veggies. They had a portable shower and toilet. But if u want to feel the real nomad experience just go to the river. (But don't go into it) And u can actually ask for more water if there is this sinkish thing but out of water. It's actually just for not to waste the water. They will totally refill it if u ask. Plus i don't recommend the Purgon car (The russian van) and it will make ur butt soar. Rent a car or just go with modern car. As a mongolian i guarantee that ur butt will get hurt.
we just slept at night. typically we finish eating by 9pm and go to bed, talk to each other, check our phones (if there is a signal) then sleep. In the morning it was all activities so it is satisfyingly tiring.
Love your videos, I watch so many of them over and over, especially middle eastern / Islamic trips. You're a great ambassador for our country. Maybe you should do similar to showcase our country too?

Fantastic introduction to Gobi Desert. Thanks Jason!
Glad you liked it!
That landscape is unbelievably beautiful! I'm glad you filmed in Mongolia. It's not a place I hear about a lot.
It was incredible - something quite different.
My dream country to visit ❤❤
I'm going to do your tour! Your videos speak louder than a hundred phots. I was initially unsure whether this place is worth it, now I'm sold!

For sure. I did it properly in the Negev Desert in 2019 with an expert. One of the most magical experiences I’ve ever had.
The steppes are something else. Something so serene is in the air. Thanks for sharing :)
Definitely!

Appreciate that.

More to come on the Ger front!
Amazing video! 🥰
Thanks Jason! What an interesting country, it’s on my list…
As it should be - it’s unlike anywhere else I’ve been to!
Thanks for this beautiful video

Jason, their website as a number of tours. Which one are you on?
Jason can give you the link but it is "Gobi & Orkhon Valley" 9 Day Tour

I tried but it really doesn’t do it justice. I will cover the topic of the stars in one of the future videos on this trip.
what an amazing video Jason! is that van comfortable? looks like an sovjet oltimer ! :-) the views are amazing...looking forward for more :-)
Despite being a bumpy trip I found it to be comfortable and kind of cosy. You get used to it.
How do you keep your hair so perfect on 3 drops of water a day?! Great vid, not a destination for me but I loved seeing it 👍

how do you guys pass the evenings?

How’s the mosquitoes in the summer there?
Inside the ger where we slept, not much really. I think that is because it is really windy and cold.
how do you manage to keep your hair short/ looking good on your travels?
I’m not really sure, I get a haircut every month or so?
How much did you pay for the whole 9 days trip ?
if you explore more you will find A class very good weed-free
Did you know only 5% of the Gobi Desert is actual desert with sand and dunes.
are you from?

indeed, but you will get used to it. some camps have air freshener in them. others dont even have a door lol.
