My twin, Reagan and I tried this, and it was amazing!!! When we make s'mores, we always use these marshmallows. On Christmas and Halloween, we always make the marshmallows but add some food coloring. Halloween - black and orange. Christmas - red and green. I make a big batch and divide it in half, then put the food coloring in (example-red in one bowl and green in the other) Then I layer them. Once they are done, they look so cool! Thank you so much for introducing these homage marshmallows! My twin is in love with them!
    P.S. They taste like heaven

I would substitude the corn syrup and sugar with honey. And no dusting of sugar needed since its not that sticky, and healthy and yummy!

My grandsons and I love your marshmallows and your method of getting them smooth in the pan is so clever! It makes it so much easier! You may want to make an adjustment to your written recipe... there is no mention of how much total water is needed. You only mentioned the first half cup in the written text. There was no mention of water in the ingredients list.
Thanks so much for all your vids! We still miss your other channels, but understand how busy you and Joe must be. The new season of your TV program is "kick butt"! Absolutely the best cooking show on the air! Emmy worthy! And I love your new kitchen remodel.
    Hugs from Alabama!

Javen Chong Also, she wastes ingredients at times, like that corn syrup, she left so much in the cup, and it always bothers me xD Like when she makes cupcakes and she's putting the batter in the molds and says that she's always left with one empty cup, it's cuz she wastes an entire cupcake worth batter during the process.

Thanks for another great recipe, Laura.
I would just like to point out that you can use any sort of inverted sugar to make marshmallows. We make them with glucose syrup in France and in UK, since corn syrup actually isn't readily available...
I'm guessing it will be the same all across Europe and in other parts of the world as well. Honey works too, but you must use a light honey that doesn't have too strong a taste, as long as the proportions remain the same.
As for the gelatine, you can use agar agar (although the texture is different) or gelatine that isn't made from pork - fish gelatine (very popular in Italy!) or beef gelatin...

Laura you should really give pupusas a try! I grew up eating them in El Salvador and they're really not that hard at all they just require practice to get the round shape just like when making pizza! And they are absolutely worth it.
