    You get good feedback not because you do dodgy repairs, you do cost effective ones with what you have got, and teach us about the circuits in the process. You simplify some very complex circuits. It is that reason why you get good feedback. Its the stuff you teach. :-) I hope you have a happy birthday, and enjoy your time off.

      @@unforgotenpromises I hate those motherboards. Small, thin, with a small D/C jack power supply port and built-in (can't remove) RAM memory and CPU. The built-in CPU always gets hot. If I remember correctly, there was something on a few asus modles like this that you can try. I'm assuming the problem is no power (won't turn on) or no display. You can try grounding the screw holes to the top chassis better. Around the screw holes is some light metal and if you notice where the TOP keyboard cover chassis touches the screw holes, it's suppose to provide some grounding for the whole unit. I used some tin foil pieces around each screw hole and then put it back together (applying some pressure) and I was surprised to see it come on. These boards are so cheap and sensitive to faults.

    Need help with an Asus A270-P motherboard. It’s not switching 12 volt ATX power on. 5 volt rail is showing 5.4 volts but only reading 1.7 volts at the chassis connector power on pin. Anyone know where to get a schematic for this board or has come across this problem before. Shorting the green wire to ground on the 24 pin atx power power supply connector starts fan spin.

It used to power up but every so often I would have to remove power cord and battery press and hold on button for 20sec put battery ba back in and power on again to start laptop. I replaced power ribbon because of damage but now it just wont power on. I like to salvage this laptop. There's always a way to make it work, it's just not my area of expertise. How do I test a motherboard?

    Laptop's can P.O.S.T and still have --catastrophic or-- serious motherboard problems and be unusable. I've seen quite a few laptops (Intel i3, i5 and i7's / AMD & iMac's) boot up to the desktop but after 5-20 minutes turn off because of the onboard GPU / Video. Also, the worst of it is the iMac's and AMD/Intel motherboards that have ALL working compasitors and electronics, but the BIOS and/or circuit DATA (ROM) chips with DATA information that gets corrupted and/or wiped out (EMP / Static) and you scratching your head all day. Many times, after spending hours troubleshooting, I found that all the compasitors, resistors and power supply was working just fine but I had a corrupt or erased BIOS and/or I had a ROM chip with DATA somewhere that was corrupt or wiped out. This happened to me more than you would think.
    The history of computer motherboards is ridiculous. Intel was making brand new motherboards (5 to 6 years behind what they already had because they wanted to sell off the "on-shelf product" they already produced before releasing the new stuff) that were faulty and had faulty components. In 2003 I had to figure out alot of "work-arounds" for so much faulty Intel motherboards that were working exactly the way they were made. Not to mention in 1999, Intel already produced and were sitting on Core 2 Quad CPU chips that remained on the shelf for 5 to 6 years before releasing them to the public. When you realize how many components are put together on a computer motherboard that have no idea about each other and how they are suppose to work together and/or communicate with each other, you realize it's just a catastrophe of chaos that simply work on and off together. It's crazy. Even ASUS motherboards had problems with this too. And the wireless wars between 2003-2013 were insanely ridiculous and even worse than the computer motherboards.

  • @tobiaslichy4722
    @tobiaslichy4722 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you solder the motherboard on the plastic case? You can deform plastic the bottom cover! Such a complex chip like EC controller needs first to be heated from down side with heater. If you solder only hot-air statition you risk demage chips or pcb delamination.
    I'm sorry, but this is not a good example of how to do it.

    Question: Before you changed out the chip, wouldn't there be a pin that was connected to the switch so that you could verify the signal was getting to the chip before you changed it? You may have done it and I just missed it. I am just trying to learn, have you done a video on checking a desk top board? I bought 10 boards with bad cpu pin sockets and I am trying to replace them. I messed up the first 7 and am now trying to use them to learn and follow the traces from the beginning. How would you start trying to input power? Use a computer power supply and try to trace it. I have a antec power supply that does not turn on unless everything is good! The green and black bypass does not seem to help? Thanks for the videos.

    I have a dell laptop and it has an issue. Sometimes it doesn't turn on at all. After doing the static electricity drain it turns on. When the battery is left in there is feint orange light and the battery drains overnight. When putting the battery in, the laptop automatically switches on as if the power button was pressed. When the laptop is off and the charger on pin is connected (but not plugged in the mains) the charger light comes on. It seems like it may be a short? Any idea what could be wrong?

    was not the original solder difficult top melt ? (I heard of solder for machines that contains copper and ask high temperature ). I see yuou use Zippo fluid, here I have mineral spirit, that also evaporates very fast I guess it can do the same work (min.sdpirit type F ort C)

    41:07 What pins do you short to power it on without the button? I have a separate board with a button, which is connected to the motherboard with a ribbon. There's a whole bunch of wires in it, because there are also some LEDs on the panel with the button. So I'm not sure which ones should I short, and unfortunately I can't simply test it with my multimeter because the probes are too thick for the wires on the ribbon :q
