Egg continually misusing his limit break for a bunch of 1s when he could save it for 2s or 3s is highly minkus.

I was begging for him to lose after that blunder lol but it always seems to work out in the end for the Egg
yeah i feel like his deck is an easy algorithm:
dup and split to gain 2 more dices
If you are on strictly more than 3, go to 6, sneezy the 6, then go to 1
If you are on 3 or less do the math to evaluate if you need to increment up to 3 (I think if you are at 1 and you have 4+ dices you increment, and if you are at 2 and you have 5+ dices you increment)
Use you hall on mirror on every even early on (like the 2 first turns)
So hall of mirrors apart, it's really easy to math this one
most astonishing for me is that he didnt even notice after putting the 2 in that he could have used a 6 instead

I think once NL played the first episode of thief, he's been stuck on "make as many 1s as possible" mode even if it doesn't fit
So much happened in this episode, I don't even know where to start. The phantom lockpick, the pea shooter misplays, NL doing math, actually using hall of mirrors and then forsaking it, damn
Edit: adding limit break and splitting misplays too. He can't keep getting away with it, the egg has gone rotten. Btw luv the series enelle

That's how overpowered it is for this episode. Even NL can't misplay it so badly that it ruins the run.

Just freaking wait for Elimination round. I bet those will kick Egg's ass until he learns to stop misplaying. Or he will play it 300 episodes until he gets lucky with build and win it despite learning absolutely nothing. Because he is genius with small brain.

Maybe situationally. But it also gives you more of the singular resource in the game which is dice. And with these rules you already know what it’s going to roll as
@@gabrielyamatoy.matodraw5570 on this run he literally gets a ton of 6's though. He could easily spend 1 turn putting them into HOM and then have lethal on the next turn because he has a ton of dice AND reusable attacks. Its quite honestly one of the best runs to use it for the thief since the new dice are guaranteed to be a specific number.
What I hate most about this episode is that he went through the trouble of upgrading hall of mirrors and occasionally use it. What was even the point of it XD
@@gabrielyamatoy.matodraw5570 on turn 1, using one dice for +1 dice is a good trade, given that he used that dice to do 2 damage. Yes without set up it can be bad. But NL had the set up and he should know that one dice every turn is worth more than 2 damage on turn 1.
Egg’s misplays have caused a giant spilt in this community. We must all come together and force Egg to play through the rest of 1001 Spikes!
Thanks for the videos NL, i bought the game because of you (as with most of my roguelites) and I'm having a blast with it.
This thief episode is breaking my balls though, most runs I can't get past the second floor, so hang in there!
at the end: "the ideal way it goes", why does Northenlion keep forgetting to sneeze the 6, if you just gonna roll past anyway get as many dice as possible. He made the fight so much more nerve wrecking then needed

Spatula could literally make a 1 into 5 extra ones with Sneeze, but egg instead chose to wear his horse blinkers that day.
This has to be the most infuratiang episode of this series so far, Im actually mad he still won based on how bad he played

Yikes that last turn. Splitting a 2 into two 1's over a 6 into six 1's. I know the game isn't punishing these misplays, but I'm just bracing myself for the Dicey Dungeons ascension 20 six month losing streaks.
I'm over here making flowcharts and excel spreadsheets to make sure I use all my dice perfectly and I still loose but this man can do whatever it is he's doing and still win. This makes my blood boil.

Hahaha I understand this so well. Took me like 4 tries to win this episode when I was playing (admittedly it was my own fault for undervaluing the upgraded dagger) so seeing NL take this with all the misplays on his first run makes me hurt slightly. Still love the content though!
Stop duplicating 1s for Dagger when you also have 2s available to dupe, 1+1 is smaller than 2+1 dummy
I think NL got his wires mixed up because splitting a 2 is better than using it as is, but that's only the case with splitting, not duping.
Also splitting a 1 is better than splitting a 2, so there was definitely some wire crossing
My God all the misplays this episode had me hurting so badly, could have played this way better but at least he won
Give him some slack its the first time he's playing that challenge without stopping and think for 30+ minutes on the first fight like you. He did great without knowing whats the optimal way to play it.

At least if he lost he would need to learn from his mistakes. The fact that he wins with plays like this indicates that the challenges are too generous.

I haven’t been following this series as much but honestly it’s a lot of fun watching you play! I feel after a while you figured out a solid strategy and even when it got tough you stuck to your plan. Overall a really fun episode.

Love how in this game with the right episode/character/combination even the most useless or subpar item can become really good, like Sneeze+Dagger or Pea Shooter+Crowbar
Early on the 6s and 5s are still better than 1s with pea shooter, but I guess you do get to the 2s and 3s faster that way
Theres no point in getting to th 2's faster. since 5 and 6 with pea shooter are just like 2s. its 4's(mostly) and 1's (weaker but usable) that are the bad rolls. but NL won't re-adjust his thinking from pea shooter bad, even when he's wishing for 2's and pea shooter turns 5/6 into 2's

And then an upgraded Pea Shooter does literally as much as a max damage upgraded dagger, and it's useable with later dice AND he got Crowbar, AND (at least one) other Countdown Equipment.

This game really shows there are many solutions to any problem
If it were anyone else you'd figure "oh he's trying to do the most roundabout and closest to just lethal play on that final turn for style", but seeing how it's NL you know "that's really the best play he could think of there."
I died a little when he uptick 6's into 1's before using Hall of Mirrors.

4 5s, able to do 8 damage with peashooter (if not more splitting one of the 5s) - rerolls to 3 1s to do 3 damage with dagger instead...

Enelle - You increment if you have dice that will move up in value by 2, so there's value in taking a 1 to a 3 because you get that lost dmg back in your incremented ones.

That last "ideal" turn wasn't so great, but it got the job done, I suppose.
Ok I'm gonna scream. Egg, when you sneeze a dice and then increment you end up keeping all those dice. Why would you increment a 6 without sneezing it first?!? On the boss?!?

NL small tip but instead of spliting 1's in to more 1's, its worth trying to split a dice that is higher in to something that can fit in to dagger, worst case you get a 1 and a number over 4 and you can use the one any ways. Best case you get 2 3's and do 8 damage

25:43 NL could have done 40 damage turn 1 if he upticked two dice, instead he did 24 :P
Hall of mirrors plus an upgraded teleport makes this run OP btw, just saying for future reference
snake eye charm is equal to just rolling ones because you would only use it for dice above three so in theory its 2 3+ dice for 2 ones

Drinking game: take a shot every time The Egg could have killed if he used his special ability, but didn't cause he completely forgot that it was in the same universe he's apart of.

The math for this episode is insteresting; how often is it beneficial to increment instead of just attacking? If your Dagger is unupgraded it's always worth it to increment if your number of Dice is greater than or equal to the incremented roll. IE if you have four 2s and you increment that to three 3s, you'll do 9 damage instead of 8. Upgraded though, you'd do 8+4=12 with 2s and 9+3=12 so the damage is the same, so it's only beneficial if you end up with a greater number of dice than the value of the dice roll. 1s seem to be the exception in that if you uptick two 1s to a single 2 you always to >= damage. The only time it's not worth it to Increment is on a 3, 4, or 5. It's always worth it on a 6 with an upgraded Dagger unless you end up with no dice, or less than 2 dice unupgraded (with starting equipment).
Needless to say NL did not stop to ponder this and succeeded despite this mistake.

Yo NL, Kunai upgrades to Max 2 instead of only allowing ones and it allows you to ball outta control with it. The fact that you can manipulate the outcome of the dice paired with Lockpick, Counterfeit, an upgraded Dagger, Freaking HACKSAW, and gaining more dice as you level up you can destroy episode three.
TL:DR - Picking hall of mirrors over kunai in an episode where you can control the dice, physically hurt.
Let's be honest, he still would only use 8000 1s on it and never pick up hacksaw
