That and he means that at some point, he cant just keep winning on luck and actually take second to think and read. The running joke of the series (that I know of) is that he makes constant in your face misplays
The running joke of the whole channel is that he makes in your face misplays. Even worse is the fact that he CAN and WILL keep getting away with it, because of the northernlion luck.

Lion Luck is featured in any game NL plays that features any amount of randomness.

He just gets really lucky on random rolls most of the time. 🤣
This episode broke Baer pretty bad. NL's main stat is luck though.

Honestly I wouldn't have figured backstab out on a run like this, the backstab would've been out after the first fight. The wording is ambiguous

@@Mr1991bbk it says: Add 1 dmg on each item use, that could also mean: each time you use Backstab, that's how it's worded ambiguously. That he didn't pick up on how it works, when he was forced to use another item first (on the second fight I think), that's something which will leave me as bald as NL.
It isn't about whether Backstab's wording is clear or not. It is all about him frantically throwing threes into it over and over again when it says it deals 0 damage. Then not noticing it increment the one time he uses something else first because the 3 errored.
backstab works by increasing damage by +1 for each equipment used per turn
It should really read "each other equipment used this turn" or "each piece of equipment used this turn", I thought the same as NL the first time I came across it, though a single use taught me the correct way to use it.

Aye, I made the same error in judgment when I took this item. It's a good alternative to Mechanic Arm if you have a set of equipment that returns or rerolls dice (like bump sword/gumball/dopple ect. but I think NL had the right of it to build for burst over constancy.
does it really? I thought it was like the other items that the more you used backstab it got a +1. Not it got a +1 for every piece of equipment used
sagecraft601 no, it reads fine. “Increases damage by +1 for each turn you use it” would be the way you and NL understand it
18:20 I would have dumped force field because it is a two slot equipment. with the nature of the rules having more equipment plays into your advantage.

he could have at least swapped it for something else for fights where enemies do only poison damage, but I guess it's too much hustle for NL
I would argue that using Ray Gun+ first would be better than going for Plasma Blaster first every turn, since that's a -1 card on the board, so more chances that Ruby Weapon get discarded.

I doubt it. With two different pieces of good equipment the fight probably would have ended a turn or two more quickly.
Dude that final coinflip that basically decided if the run won or lost was very suspenseful, fun episode :)

Fool NL once, shame on you. Fool NL twice, shame on you still. Fool NL 9 times in a row, back stab must not be functional so yeet it into your backpack forever.
NL, backstab’s damage increases when you use your _other_ items. Think of it as doing 1 damage for every item you used this turn. It combos well with the Thief who has a reusable dagger and can make a lot of dice to go into it.
Liam Morris to be fair it’s not very clear on what it means in the description.
@Andres Pena increases 1 on other items use? or something like that. the descriptions are a tad cryptic at times

Egg. That final fight made me want to cry. You somehow manage to stumble into excellence. I had my money solid on you getting absolutely nowhere on this run, and yet, the Luck of the Lion continues. Bravo.

Enelle @18:17 - Forcefield, because you can stick healing crystal and doppledice in its spot, giving you 6 pieces of equipment instead of 5 that may be hit by error. It takes the same job as Forcefield And heals poison dmg.
I dont understand why he kept using the 6 on the second roll when he needs it for Ruby Weapon
After playing Dicey Dungeons some myself and watching NL, I can say the MOST important part of the game is changing your equipment before fights. All damage against Cornelius, no armor vs poison, etc.

Of all the things to be confused about, that one's fair. I had to actually reason out that that's how it worked, because at first glance it sounds like a self boosting item.
It said in plain english how it works. I have never played the game once and knew how that equipment worked. Galaxy brain 😄

That had to be the perfect ending for that episode. It all relying on a single 50/50 coin flip, heads he definitely wins, tails he definitely loses.

When your on final boss and get 5 errors in a row, then they freeze all your dice and you can do no damage
i died because of 6 error rolls on final boss (Shield lady - that can do 16 dmg in single turn), all i were need to do, is to damage her for 2! Omg, if you were there, you would gone deaf of my frusrtation scream. Sorry i need to speak out)))

Hey NL, Backstab works similarly to items which grow stronger the more you roll. By using other items/equipment beforehand, Backstab builds up its damage. It is best used as the last move you make.
Northern lion : I think I'm getting pretty good
Also Northernlion : rolls sixes, puts them in ray blaster instead of 3/4/5, unlocks ruby weapon next turn... puts in a 4.

I like how NL just continually threw backstab away on the first roll so he never figured out how it actually works.

I am not usually the ‘scream at the screen type’...but that total misunderstanding of Backstab was too much even for me.
29:08 it does 0 dmg because it says it does 0 dmg :) also, it adds +1 dmg on item use, not dice roll

Not really, it's worded pretty straight forward.
@@john_titor1 I mean it could use some more specific language like saying "other equipment". The current description could be taken like NL's interpretation or that backstab itself would be included in the term "equipment"
@@ttasura I do agree that it can be inferred that backstab would increase it's own damage on use, but i don't see how you could end up with NL's interpretation without misreading. Regardless, enough people agree that the wording is a bit confusing, so it should probably get updated to reflect as such.

NL, backstab gets plus 1 dmg from each use of another item. So you use it at the end of your turn after using all of your other moves.

It looks like you thought that backstab takes into account the previous turns, but it doesnt

My guess is that like the other increase 1 damage per item used "cards" my guess is it gets more powerful if you save it for last and not first, meaning it is a 0-6 damage thing, you have 4 other spells to use first but 1 of those can be used 3 times so 7 uses before it would be 6 damage, so yeah it is pretty weak unless you have a lot of "can be used 3 times" cards, meaning odds are it is useless with that curse)
30:10 ... Yup I was exactly right, it starts at 0 and then increase 1 for every spell you play before it that turn meaning it is great for decks with a lot of "use 3x per turn" but not great for the curse this run has.
