this is such a good look back on your trip🥺 thank you for sharing your thoughts and wonderful stories on each city in Kyushu while showing the beautiful pictures💞
I love this style of video, so much more engaging than vlogs! Recounting your entire trip like this also seems like a great way to keep it in your memory for longer
Hi from NY! 🗽I stumbled into this video and really enjoyed everything you shared. I’m from Kyushu - born and raised in Fukuoka, moved to Miyazaki when I was young, went to Beppu for my family vacation, had a school trip to Kumamoto, and took a day trip to Nagasaki with my friends, so it was sooooo cool to watch your journey. Love gorgeous photos and your walks. I used to climb on the hill in my hometown and loved looking over dreaming one day I was gonna move somewhere very far. So NY is my forever home now, but I miss Japan very much. (esp the food! 😆) Please go visit Kyoto and Nara… absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for creating this video! ❤️
I love that this video brought you back to those memories for a moment! And gosh don’t get me started on the food, it’s incredible 🤤 I’ve never been to NY but it’s definitely on my travel bucket list! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏻
Yes!! This was our first trip where we shot analog and I loved it SO MUCH. The excitement from getting the film developed is unmatched, almost like reliving the trip 🥹❤️
Nice video and pics! We lived in Nakasu, Fukuoka for many years and ofc visited all over Kyushu. Wow, sumo is normally very expensive, I used to watch it on TV in my bathtub with a chu-hi, but I did go see baseball live many times in the Dome. Ohori Park is great and also Maizuru Park next door with the castle ruins, at sakura season we always went there to have BBQ, pick-nick and drinks with friends. Hmm, I am a bicycler and been everywhere in Fukuoka and suburbs on my bike, it is not hilly at all, it is basically flat. Nagasaki on the other hand is extremely hilly, you rarely see a bicycle there. Mentaiko is so good, a tip if you make a rice bowl or something where you stay is to buy broken mentaiko, a third of the price. If it is not a gift ofc. In Dazaifu there are trees that are 1500 years old! There are many traditional ryokans/onsens in Kyushu, but the prices may vary a lot between big holidays and normal week days, from super expensive to quite cheap. Even in these days with the Internet many people in Japan use travel agencies. One can walk in in and ask for special offers in ryokans and get a stay at an affordable price, or contact one in advance. Yep, be prepared that restaurants close early in smaller towns, even in towns like Nagasaki. Yes, Miayzaki beef and chicken is famous and it is a cool town, also Kagoshima is very pretty and they produce very good sake. Sakurajima has big eruptions right now, Nov/Dec -24. Ha, a pic of the Ichiran ramen HQ´s in Nakasu, we lived just behind it, nice. But sometimes the smell was not that nice, pork bones boiling for 24 hours... Did you ever try any yatais in Nakasu or Tenjin? Street food stalls? Some are less exciting yakitory places but some have amazing seafood and big shells etc. Another advice to tourists, you can eat very well and drink cold beers and high balls in yatais and as long as you consume there is no stress, but do not worry. There are public toilettes very nearby and they are just as clean as in a Sheraton in Europe, or cleaner. To finish off I must say that Fukuoka is my favorite town in the world and I have lived in many places. Kyushu is highly recommended. Also it is close to Busan in Korea, there is a fast boat called Beetle that can tak you there in 4 hours and pretty cheap. Busan is amazing and also the seafood, it is safe and cheap. Arigato!
thank you for making this video. my wife and i are traveling to kyushu later this year and after being overwhelmed by the amount of research, this video was exactly what i was looking for
@@thecarmeister thank you for taking the time to respond! your channel is lovely to watch :) i was wondering, how did you and your husband get around in kyushu? i hear renting a car is best, but i wanted to ask about your folks' experience.
@@toddchang2638We opted for the JR Kyushu Rail Pass. It was so relaxing to travel by train and very easy to navigate! They have a website with all the info & prices, I’d definitely give it a look and compare the price to renting a car/gas/traveling time etc. I don’t know how they stack up, but Japan’s train system is so top tier that I highly recommend it regardless 😊
Going to Kyushu for the first time in a few weeks and your video really hyped me up! If you loved Miyazaki, I feel you'd love Matsushima as well. It's definitely one of the most memorable areas I've been to and I've visited Japan 6x
Hehe... I live in Kagoshima. Watched all the way through and all you talked about was walking up the stairs to the viewpoint. I figured that you might have taken the ferry across to the volcano or something.
I know 😔 We didn’t get to see as much of Kagoshima as we wanted. Afterwards we walked through the city for a bit, but our legs didn’t want to continue any further so we mainly rested 😅 I hope we get to explore it better if we ever get to go back!
hey guys. thx for this video. really great and inspiring. can i ask what sources you used to plan your trip? We're going to spend a month in japan starting next week. landing in osaka. we were thinking of going around kyushu, renting one of those small rvs. would be great to know where you got your info! thx again.
A lovely vlog. It reminded me when I went in Japan more than 10 years ago now ( I did the most touristy places like Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Takayama, Koyasan, and of course Tokyo...) and places were so quiet and empty... I felt lucky now that I see how Japan is packed with tourists...If I have to return one day it would be in one of those remote areas or nobody go ...By the way your husband is really handsome, You look lovely together ;-)
Oh I can only imagine how lovely that must’ve been. Kanazawa and Takayama are very high on my list! I hope to see them one day. I passed the compliment on to my husband, he’s very flattered haha ❤️
Love the video! I really want to visit Japan some time in my life ❤ I'm curious what cameras you used for the pictures, especially the ones made by your husband 😊 Groetjes uit Nederland!
Thank you for this lovely video! Just wondering when exactly in November did you visit Kyushu? Early/mid? Looks like you timed it pretty well with the colorful autumn show. Oh and Casy is beyond cool! ❤
Thank you for watching 😊 We actually went late November/early December. We were shocked how mild the climate still was even going into December, it was a lovely time to go. 🍁 And yes, we travelled only with a carry on each 🤭 Every hotel we stayed at had great laundry service so it was very manageable. I hate carrying around big suit cases 😂 Made the train rides super easy too!
@@thecarmeister Totally agree about the hassle of traveling with bulky luggage. Traveling light is best, but packing light and smart is an art form 😉 I am actually planning a Kyushu itinerary somewhat similar to yours, and currently have a couple of days in Kumamoto included. However, seeing that it’s a relatively short train ride from Fukuoka, I’m thinking to visit it as a day trip and spend the remaining time in other locations. What was your impression of Kumamoto? Do you think it is suitable as a day trip or is it better to stay there for a few days to get a fuller experience? Thanks!
@@Leei I personally really loved Kumamoto and was glad we decided to stay two nights! It feels like a very laid back city and the castle area is gorgeous, I feel that you can already spend a lot of time there on its own. Suizenji Jojuen Garden is a must visit too. I think it's worth it to spend at least one night there. It's not a massive city, so you wouldn't need to stay any longer to explore the highlights. A day trip is definitely doable, but you might feel a bit rushed!
Thank you for creating such a respectful vision of your trip. A gentle treatment of the places you visited. What was the name of your tablet that cured your issue? My wife suffered on our last trip. Thanks again
Thank you for your kind words :) The name of the tablets is Seirogan. I wish I discovered it earlier on because within a day I started to feel better. I also saw lots of tourists stock up on it while we were there haha. It’s going to be a travel staple for us now!
Glad you enjoyed it! We took public transit everywhere and I highly recommend it. Very efficient and lots of great views. We used the Kyushu Rail pass which was perfect.
@ thanks so much for responding! That’s great to hear because I hear a lot of other ppl say it’s hard to get around kyushu without a car, but I really didn’t wanna drive haha. Thanks again for your beautiful video 😊
Ooooohhh ik zou ook nog zo graag een keer in het voorjaar naar Japan willen gaan! Staat sowieso op de bucket list. 🌸 Najaar is echt een aanrader.
