This is the best video on Nagasaki I’ve seen so far! I’m going to be in Japan for a good part of winter and have been thinking about spending Christmas in Nagasaki because of its Christian and European history. This is so helpful!
I am impressed by the way you are trying to deeply understand the landscape and culture of the cities you visit. What an intelligent people you are! I am a resident of Hiroshima and my grandmother and aunt are hibakusha. I will try to behave like you when I travel abroad. I learned a lot from you.
This is the first video I have seen on Nagasaki. I had no idea the city was so, so beautiful !! Add in the fascinating history and I think you have a MUST VISIT destination!
Lime green suitcases are perfect when traveling through developing countries or dense urban centers since they stand out and thus are more immune to luggage theft. Next time go check out Huis Ten Bosch about an hour away where they have fiets that allow you to rent 2-person bikes to explore the Disney-fied version of a Dutch landscape complete with a Miffy store. Great job with the editing and b roll footage BTW.
Amazing! we are planning for a day trip from Fukuoka but now after watching this, we are changing plans. We should definitely stay at least 2 days here.
Completely agreed with your decision to stay overnight in Nagasaki! This city is a hidden gem in Japan and one of our favorite places! We hope you'll love it, too. 😊
I'm from Nagasaki. I was very happy and proud to be able to watch the video about Nagasaki. The fish in Nagasaki is delicious, so next time you visit, try the sashimi! I can recommend some good restaurants.❤️😆
Thank you for introducing me to the wonderful Nagasaki. I think there is nothing more beautiful than a city rich in history😀 And please take care of yourself. Kyushu has wonderful hot springs, perfect for soothing your body and mind♨️ In addition, Kyushu has convenient highways that start from Fukuoka and make it convenient to travel to various regional cities. However, the roads in Japan are narrow, so be careful when driving a camper van in urban areas. please. I sincerely hope that you continue good your journey. God bless you.
thanks a lot for this video! i'm planning my trip and could have about 6h in Nagasaki. after what i saw from you i think that better to spend 6h there than not to spend. thanks from moscow, russia
I live in nagasaki. I was very impressed video.By the way, wasn't there paper on the bottom of the Castella cake? It's a manufacturing process and you have to peel it off before eating. It looked like were eating together. If you'er doing well, No problem!!!
Thank you so much for the tor of this city, I was fortunate to have visited there in 2019 with my son and his family, Absolutely loved the time spent there.
If I'm able to work Nagasaki into our trip this spring, what are the top 3 things you would recommend we see if we can only stay for a half of a day? We plan to drive from Fukuoka to Kumamoto and I hope to work Nagasaki into our day.
Nagasaki in a half day would be so hard to decide on! I would focus on what your priority is. The Atomic bomb area is set back from the water and would maybe take a half day itself, if you take time and see the museum and nearby sights. Or you could do Dejima, Glover Garden, and the Dutch slope in one ambitious day. I'd try to do a full day if you can. Nagasaki remains one of our top favorite cities in Japan!
too bad about the RV! hoping next time it'll be smooth sailing :) my favourite thing about nagasaki is definitely going around and feeling like you're being transported into vastly different places each time!
I enjoyed this vlog very much! It gave a perfect preview of our visit to Nagasaki next year. It will be our second trip to Japan (from Europe) and this time we'll be exploring Kyushu, so I'm also checking our your other vlogs! Thank you for sharing great content and happy travels.
The Portuguese were the first Europeans in Japan, they were in Japan in the 1500's, they brought technologies such as firearms, the Catholic religion and the word "Arigato" comes from the Portuguese "OBRIGADO".
It's a good idea to rent a car to travel around Kyushu. It's just what I did a several years ago. I first left Fukuoka by train to visit Hita City and then to Yufuin, where I rented a car to visit many places in Miyazaki Prefecture and Kagoshima. Many sightseeing spots worth visiting in Miyazaki and Kagoshima are quite distant from each other, so it's much quicker to go around by driving a car.
Kasutera is a Western Style cake brought by the Portuguese to Japan through Nagasaki, and it's widely sold in Japan. The name of the cake originally comes from the name of the country in Portuguese which the cake came from, which is the present-day Spain.
The place I want you to visit the most in Nagasaki is the "26 Martyrs of Japan Memorial". People in Europe and the Americas hated Japan because of this incident, and have repeatedly waged war against it as an evil country. This is also connected to the dropping of the atomic bomb. I hope you will study about the 26 Martyrs. You will understand the cruelty of the Japanese, but I also want you to know that there were other religions and people in power who were giving instructions behind the scenes.
Honestly, lime green sounds ideal. You always will be certain it's your bag that came down on the conveyer belt. If I ever do a 3rd trip to Japan, I feel like Kyushu is the area to explore.
Sorry you fell thats why as you get old you need to watch your self more fells .Japan is heavy on wheels two of my suitcases got worn out wheels .Love Nagasaki been twice
Great question! Glover Garden has a view over the water. The Atomic Bomb in Nagasaki missed its original target, or Glover Garden wouldn't have survived. It detonated a little further inland, so Glover Garden and other buildings in the area weren't damaged by the atomic bomb.
Opinion - I think it's weird you start talking about a building and then show nothing about that building only the views from the building....how about we show the building you just spoke about? Very confusing video editing....pretty sure it's GLOVER like GLOVE not GLOW-VER. I sit here and think I am way too far from my home in Nagasaki. Thanks for the video. Should have named the bag Matcha!
I heard that Westerners eat hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, Coke, sandwiches, coffee, pasta, pizza, hotdog, steak cereal, bread, and milk for three meals a day. Is this true? Or do Americans and Europeans eat differently?
Hi! I would say that the typical American and European do eat differently. And many Americans do have a diet similar to what you describe, but not us! I (Heather) really hate hamburgers, tolerate sandwiches and hot dogs, only drink Coke or eat fried chicken while traveling, and only eat steak a few times a year. I do drink coffee every day and have cereal for breakfast (Bill enjoys oatmeal every day). We prefer to grill or roast things instead of frying them, and enjoy cooking international flavors when at home, even if they're not "authentic". Hot take - Japan and Korea have exponentially better fried chicken than the US! 😊
This is the best video on Nagasaki I’ve seen so far! I’m going to be in Japan for a good part of winter and have been thinking about spending Christmas in Nagasaki because of its Christian and European history. This is so helpful!
Thank you for coming to my town. Thank you for sharing with the world what you saw and felt in Nagasaki.

Thank you! That really means a lot to us. 😊😊

Absolutely, yes! This city has so much to offer! Such a hidden gem. ❤️
Thanks for coming to our hometown! Thanks for the great video!

Yes! I'm glad I will be staying in Nagasaki for a week (part of Kyushu tour) next month. Thank you for this!

We would definitely prefer 6 hours in Nagasaki over zero hours in Nagasaki. 😉

The city is also a base of Opera (Madame Butterfly)!
Yes!! We neglected to mention that. 🤗
Japan is so brilliant.
too bad about the RV! hoping next time it'll be smooth sailing :)
my favourite thing about nagasaki is definitely going around and feeling like you're being transported into vastly different places each time!
You are such a lovely couple - gentle, curious, open minded and accepting of other cultures. More power to you. Come to visit Australia! 🇦🇺

Fun!! We had such a good time in Kyushu that we went back! We have videos coming up about Kagoshima and Mt Aso. We even rented a camper car! 😊😊
Amazing video thank you so much❤
Wow! I love how you showed Nagasaki to the world. Thank you!😍

Great video, thx. Yes, Nagasaki is a MUST visit place, glad we went there last year and had an amazing time.
I know nagasaki has lot of unique stuff but most of all, i think the people in nagasaki is warmest of all in japan.
Were the buildings in Glover Gardens relocated from a different location?
Welcome to Nagasaki city.
Long years ago, My teacher sang Madam Butterfly in Nagasaki Graver house.

wow,what a beautiful city!

And you looked great in the traditional clothing!
Oh thank you so much! 😊 😊

The tram is old school, cool

Sorry you fell thats why as you get old you need to watch your self more fells .Japan is heavy on wheels two of my suitcases got worn out wheels .Love Nagasaki been twice
l like to follow your movic to swim in the world.
Martin Charles Scorsese
If not mistaken, st francis xavier introduced christianity to japan.
I just asked a question on my channel and no one voted Nagasaki!
How did Clover Gardens survive the atomic bomb?
Great question! Glover Garden has a view over the water. The Atomic Bomb in Nagasaki missed its original target, or Glover Garden wouldn't have survived. It detonated a little further inland, so Glover Garden and other buildings in the area weren't damaged by the atomic bomb.

Chinese food $12 for 1person or 2 ???
That was for both of us! 😊
