The very best boat I have seen sofar. A 'straight to the point boat' - inviting you to go literally everywhere. A real stunning conversion of the right kind.
The conversion really was done expertly. The two salons, lower and upper both made for a really interesting division for me. Lower deck is for living, upper for entertaining. Yet that main salon up was very comfortable looking. Just felt that the entire tour was showing me someones home.
Really nice! I’ve seen a number of conversion yachts that didn’t manage to shake the stark utility of their former lives. This one does-very luxurious while still retaining its go-anywhere qualities.
Classy, pure quality, ultra comfortable, she has a purpose built hull with a stunning conversion and i really liked the sinks. For me although you have shown some gorgeous converted vessels, this one tops my list.
I have watched hundreds of yacht tours. Never seen a sound box fitted around a main engine. But saying that, I have never seen a yacht like this before either. She is a beauty. 👍
As a diver I’ll tell you how serious that gear is….its newbie holiday beech toys basically…cheap basics to get posh people underwater in shallow areas..
That is one of the nicest conversions I have seen! Great use of space and making it comfortable and losing the utilitarian look that many conversions can't seem to escape. Thanks for showing the sinks!. Great video!
wonderful seeing such an extreme brute of machinery all polished and fancied, and perfumed up and shiny like that. she's gorgeous. would love to see the conversion costs, and all the decisions made... Seems half the fun would be the conversion, the other half cruising her. is $20 million realistic?
Thank you for the tour. It was quite impressive and a nice boat. (i am an Engineer who has enperience in that Field / Lürssen/Damen/HDW/Pendennis - German)
Incredible conversion and what a fantastic tour! I have to say that you never cease to amaze me with the unique vessels that you gain access to Mr...errrrm...Bouy? Great stuff, keep it up
I don't even remember subscribing so it must have been quite a while ago. One request I have is a wide angle lens. Even if there will be a bit of distortion, getting a better idea of the spaces will make for a better viewing experience. Thanks!
It’s a bathroom sink, people that complain and demand it be called a “handwashing basin” are just being pedantic and trying to be smarmy. I love this ship though
Guess it's where you're from we call it a wash basin a sink is in the kitchen for washing dishes and it's not being smarmy or pedantic just to correct your smarmy comment
It's an American thing, they need more information. Hand washing sink (sink), side walk (path), waste paper basket (bin), eye glasses (glasses), racquet ball (squash), horse back riding (horse riding)
It's not pedantry it's accuracy! A basin is used in bathrooms as it typically is made from porcelain or some other fine finish and has a shallow depth sufficient for hand washing. A sink however is used in a kitchen and is typically made from stainless steel and are deep enough to accommodate a bowl or pan to be washed or for water to be added to a pan. The taps are different between basins and sinks for this reason, the former being smaller and decorative and the latter often have tall swan necks to accommodate pans being filled!!
@@lips5913 Or....and hear me out: you have kitchen sinks, and bathroom sinks. I've never heard it called a basin. I understand the premise of it, but it doesn't seem to be a commonly used term.
The original Bering 80, Beyond Capricorn, has her engines encased in sound boxes. Not nearly as big as this beauty, though. Love her sweeping classic lines & canoe stern.
Wow, this is one of the most impressive explorer yachts I've seen reviewed. Add some fishing gear and an ROV and I'd probably live aboard for a long time.
WOW I would love to own my own personal explorer cruise ship. Honestly that's really what it is. I would live full time on board if I owned something like this. That hand basin or "sink looks big enough to double as a bathtub for the toddlers.😂
I wouldn't be interested in chartering her, but, more interested in owning her! When I become a millionaire, I will be sure to contact you for my forever yacht! Thank you for sharing!
no never seen a boxed powerhouse? super cool vessel! im a pilot house and engine room caption but in yacht design i always am disappointed by how "small" crew quarters are and always wanted a vessel with true livable spaces for crew. thank you Asteria! Id buy it but.... thanks Yacht Bioy and stay safe at sea
Thank you for showing the galley kitchen and the diving locker. Well done for finding the Engine Room. How many cabins all up for guests including hosts and also crew, 7 crew ? Captain, First Officer/Navigator/Officer of the Watch, Chief Engineer, Bosun, Bosuns Mate/ Assistant Engineer/ Chefs mate, Waiter/ Drinks Waiter, Chef, Matradee/Waitress How many guests suites ?
NICE !!!! Shame you didn't have more time for a proper tour. My main thing is it has carpeting, that would be the 1st thing gone. Nice job in the time allowed😊😊😊😊
eurojackpot of 80 million euros went yesterday to Lithuania and euromillions of 162 million euros went yesterday to spain, so on tuesday it is back to basic 10 in eurojackpot or 17 in euromillions..... still enough for a fully solar catamaran filled with long shelf life food and some petty cash .....one has to have a plan B
It's strange to think that ships half the age of MY Asteria are being scrapped, and that this one is a 55 year old still going strong. I imagine the Caterpillar unit is original.
@dirkvandertoornvandertoorn4895 As am i Dirk, { United Towing out of Hull UK.} These ocean- going tugs are some of the best sea ships ever built. i went all over the world on a tug called the M/T Serviceman, an old coal burner converted to diesel'. Nice to see these conversions into yachts. By the way, i am 74yo so i'm talking about the 60s
You haven't completed your Know Your Ship book yet? The Buffer will be disappointed. Is the engine enclosure also a DC system? I know in navy ships the enclosure has a fine water spray to suppress engine fires.
I hate to sound ignorant or too much like an American but, what is a haman? Around 14:30 you said the owner was thinking about making the head or the shower specifically into a haman. Sorry if the spelling is incorrect but I have never heard that word before. Thanks in advance and I hope you can reply so I can expand my vocabulary lol.
It's simply a basin (usually found in a bathroom/wet closet, often ceramic or stone) and a sink (typically found in a kitchen or laundry room, often metal). No need for the redundant "hand" basin. Pedantry aside, great video as always and a most bodacious ship. My kind of boat.
Weel, dinna ken sailors are bloody superstitious! Ye dinna say sinks onboard a vessel aye, it strikes terror into the hearts of sailors. There’re called hand basins. 😂 Some bad Scots from a Canuck across the pond. Anyway I had to laugh as you were talking about the engine room. Between your accent and my deafness I thought you said have you ever seen an engine room behind a sandbox. What??? I finally clued in sound box. And yes in fact I have! On a 60 ft steel trawler hand built by the owner who enclosed the single John Deere propulsion engine in a sound box similar to the two gen sets on board. All approved by John Deere for warranty. No over heating issues. If I remember correctly the owner was an aeronautical engineer and quite innovative with how he constructed the boat literally in his back yard, the features it had etc.

I have always loved explorer yachts and this one is very beautiful with her white/beige and dark wooden interior!
This is a beautifully converted ship. Well done, and don’t worry about calling a basin a sink, not many of us are Hyacinth Buckets.

What a beautiful boat! It looks so fresh and clean and what a great job on the conversation!😊
John is definitely right. After all a sink by any other name is still a sink
I Love the SINKS!

Amazing explorer and built like a Ford F-350. Just needs a teppenanyaki grill.
At last! One bathroom with bidet: surely some italian influence.

A fantastic yacht, a real stunner
Замечательная яхта👌 замечательный Лондон 😍 у меня есть мечта сделать путешествие из моего родного Калининграда в Лондон на каяке 😁
I like your channel. The thing I wanted to see is the crew quarters. That tales a lot about how happy the crew will be.
It’s the first thing I check when buying a yacht….If it passes muster only then do I inspect the remainder of the yacht.
"sink" works for me.
Absolutely beautiful if I had the money I will buy her with my eye closed ❤❤❤❤

Fabulous boat!
Wonderful vessel. So much space and capability. Not crazy about the finish itself, feels a little cheap and not ultra luxury. But still lovely
Great job I'd love to be rich more than life
Hand basin just like a 400 ft ship with demarcation on its hull close to the super structure is called a Lime Juicer!!! Semper Paratus 1790!!

No, a sound-box around the main is very unusual. We had a seperate generator room away from the mains on a 65m.
Very impressive
Bathrooms are crazy!
Who ever designed this has got their sh*t together!

Spent more time looking at the view than on the bridge.
What a ship!!! The only concern I would have is storage in the cabins especially on a long passage. Oh and by the way it's a flippin' sink! LOL
😂😂
lol was thinking the same thing, love the old style repurbised so original all split up.

Love these converted MV but to big for me and 35 million NZ $$$$ wouldnt leave quite enough to run it plus a buffer

That is not a Queen bed it is more like a King Plus.
Is that right 16 foot draft ?
yep! She has a huge draft owing to her former life as a salvage tug
5m draft
20m !

Actually, it is a wash hand basin🤣🤣
Anyone know the name of the vessel before she was converted?
Asteri was her name when she was a tug boat.

Original Dutch name please ??
Never been Dutch. Origin name was Asteri and now Asteria
It’s a Ship not a Boat.
It's only got one mast so it's a sloop...
For a salvage tug the range is quite small......
