Its disgusting to me that these owners can get away with only paying these people taking THIS good of care to their ships only $30k a year... I hope that they have at least free boarding and all meals paid for.
@@Reegareth They don't work year round. 6 months for most. Winter, the boats don't go out unless its an explorer yacht. The crew could work other jobs during the time they are not under contract. They do eat onboard for free, and sleep for free under contract. Now, there is a conundrum for them, renting 6 months is not practical to keep moving so, my guess they split a place with someone else to stay anchored on land. Do contracts cover health, IDK. 🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜❤️
@@sebastianbache8862 On most superyachts the crew stay on year round even if there are no charters, they live on the ship and get all meals cooked by the yacht crew chef. Junior crew get 2 months off per year and senior officers usually do 8 week rotations with a counterpart (8 weeks on 8 weeks off). If the yacht is used for chartering they often get big tips as well for each charter (a busy yacht can 2-3x their salary in tips). So yes they do actually work year round.
