    It always amazes me how some of the doctors can be so clueless and/or dismissive. A patient comes in with this kind of wax and they say, "oh, no problem. Put some drops in and it will come right out". Now they have to know it's not going to work but yet they send the patient on their way...multiple times! The least they could do might be to give a referral to a clinic like yours so the person can get the help they need. Anyway, nice job and I'm sure this kid is grateful to have those plugs out.

    I can totally identify with this teenager. I had a similar experience with blocked ears, both my parents and teachers thought I was deliberately ignoring them. I finally went to my doctor, and he was able to remove the wax with irrigation. Afterwards, I felt very dizzy and had to sit for a while. Does this happen with some of your patients?

      I think they’ve mentioned in previous videos that the temperature of the water can affect how your senses are. From memory it causes temporary vertigo, but I’d trust their previous word than mine ;)

    • @t-and-p
      @t-and-p 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

      The vestibular system that is part of your inner ear plays a crucial role in your balance - so much so that they are sometimes referred to as the "organs of balance". Your vestibular system uses a fluid-based system to respond to the rotation of your head and also detects things like gravity and back-and-forth motion. When something changes that affects this system (either the fluid balance is blocked or changed, for example, with irrigation) it can cause symptoms like the dizziness you describe.
      It is always worth telling the health practitioner performing the procedure about any changes you feel, though, as it can tell them quite a lot - such as how well the treatment is working and if they need to tweak/change anything in their approach, as well as help them to keep you safe. Some treatments should change how you feel, others shouldn't - so making sure they're aware allows them to make sure that you get all the care you need.
      If you find that you experience wax build up, definitely speak to someone about how to manage it. Some people just genetically produce more wax, others do things that cause their ears to produce more wax (I find that ear buds make my ears produce more, for example). If you find that you experience build ups, you can sometimes manage it simply enough with a little olive oil and the ear will excrete it naturally. If not, you can go through a removal procedure using suction, like those in the video. But, if you keep on top of it, then you hopefully won't have to go through a full blockage, hearing loss, and the need for irrigation (causing that unpleasant dizziness) again.
      Hope that helps 😊 Wishing you the best of luck👍

      I once had wax removed by a nurse or assistant and she didn't warm up the oil or fluid she used. I felt nauseous and off kilter the whole day. I warned my adult son when he went in to make sure the fluid is warm. I mentioned it to the Dr. the next visit and he said that was a mistake made by the technician. It should always be slightly warm fluid.

    I had tubes in my ears when I was on radiation treatment for cancer. The holes didn’t grow over. My ENT patched them with radiated skin the first few tries…
    Then he used patches from my arm and it worked.
    I’ve had chronic ear issues on and off for the last 30 plus years!
    That doctor retired. The next few that I tried were scarily lax about my ears. The current one stresses that the eardrums are still fragile and no pressure should be used to clean them!

    I was born with a perforated ear drum and had constant ear infections as a child~normally at least one infection every 4-5months. As an adult have had problems with constant ear wax problems. I don't ever use Q-Tips. The last time I had a build up of wax I used olive oil and booked an appointment for ear syringing at the Drs. I had to wait3&1/2 weeks for the appointment and was using olive oil4times a day and often even5times a day. I was in such discomfort and was having problems balancing as the ears help you balance. The day before my ear syringe appointment I got a text saying it was cancelled~talk about devastated as it was so uncomfortable and I was literally going through so many bottles of the olive oil which isn't cheap when you are buying it so often as the bottles aren't very big.I finally got another appointment with the Dr's and by this time had been using the olive oil for5&3/4weeks and had upped the doseage to5times a day. It was so uncomfortable as well. My appointment was at1:40pm and sods law at12:50pm~ just50minutes before my appoint my ears finally unblocked and the last lot of wax finally cleared. I was even told that they don't really do ear syringing which I was shocked at as you would assume they would. 8 even found out later that spec savers now offer ear syringing so could have gone there if I had known as I find it so uncomfortable when my ears are blocked. My dad had a similar high wax build up in his ears so I'm sure he passed his bad ears to me.I'm wondering if it's worth putting the olive oil drops in a couple of times a week or weekly to maybe help the situation or would it be a waste of time. It seems to take such a long time to unblock my ears and I do get itchy ears and have noticed most times I am able to pull out little specks of wax. It drives me nuts.

I also have a scar on my right eardrum from an Ant that was looking for a place to hide (?). My older step sister Bambi got the Ant out of my ear by lighting a cigarette and smoking it out. holy moly. i'm in arizona now and there is no way i would allow any "professional" to "treat" me here. i've been using the american 2% hydrogen peroxide for decades. it doesn't take long after cleaning my ears until i can pump a pearl sized white glob out of them. they fill up with fluid quite fast due to the presence of presumably a u.s. military implant in the left side, which is quite irritating (worked on air base, could hear morse code at 0.7071 volume at 45 degrees off..) when a certain chamber fills with fluid, it's used as a resonator and i can hear the transmission quite clearly. if i clean my ears, the signal loses fidelity until only the lowest partials are received. unfortunately in the last two years, i've become quite a problem and they're upping the transmission to some kind of whip impulse that feels like i'm being kicked in the head so i can't sleep unless i cradle my head in my arms or thick amounts of gelpads to shield the signal. any sign of fatigue... wham, wham. two years of sleep deprivation. you probably can't help me, but maybe you can help someone else. this crap is intolerable.

    Everytime a doctor looks inside my ears they ask if I've ever had tubes in my ears? Then say ive got bad scars. I'm curious how it looks. If you post a video of what it looks like that would be awesome 👍🏻

      I often wonder that myself as I walk quite a bit for exercise and use air pods (earbuds) to listen to music..but I suspect that they could be able to tell if it is a cotton bud (Qtip in the US) or something else like hearing aids or earbuds? I think the cotton buds leave small fibers that they can mostly see…

    That's insane! Is it common that someone would get that kind of a wax build up? I know I'm not supposed to, but I still use Qtips, often, so when I went for a check up I asked her to look in my ears in case something bad was happening; clean as a whistle.... Wow that was grossly amazing. Bet he feels and hears much better now!!

    Olive oil is safe to use ? If yes , how often and what amount?

    • @deanhannah2138
      @deanhannah2138 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, it's safe. You need just a couple of drops in each ear. Try lying on your side and letting the oil soak in for a few minutes and then repeat on the other side. Do this for 2-3 weeks daily.

    I had something like this fall out of my ear, when I was a kid, on a morning that we were in FL on our first day of vacation, getting ready to go to The Nagic Kingdom. My ear had been really itchy. And then it sounded like I had water coming out of my ear, +like after a showeer sometimes, when you clear the water out of your ear,) and when I reached up to scratch again, this big thing fell in to my hand. And I still have no idea how! Because I'd kust gently been trying to relieve the itching in my ear, moments before, and hadn't felt anything abnormal! It's one of the very few tines in my life, where something happened that I still just don't quite understand!

    Wow, hard part is how much information the teacher has provided that he has missed by not being able to hear clearly.
    Also many teachers, parents will not believe he cannot hear them, blaming everything on being a teenager, Very fortunate this parent was persistent finding medical help, insisting there was a real medical problem.
    Would have asked for note from you saying , due to the blockage in (..name..)ear it has greatly effected his hearing.

    I always find ear wax to be disgusting and gross but I find myself watching these videos on pins and needles. A little bit squeamish as well. My son has an over productive ear wax problem. I am so relieved when the wax is finally removed. I know the person feels great afterward.

      Exactly! That’s what I wanna know. lol. Did the first doctor say something about this kind of issue being genetic?

    • @rottierumbles9451
      @rottierumbles9451 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Because some people just genetically make more ear wax than others , just like some have smelly feet or overly sweaty armpits , but with earwax you have to be very careful otherwise you can push it further in or damage your eardrum and when they get blocked like this kids , it's better to have a professional do it.
