As someone who has operated excavators, this is exactly what we do. Like audiologists, we also have a range of different attachments depending on what needs to be moved. We even have a vacuum attachment.
I am an excavator operator too. Very similar skills involved. Ours are just in large scale. We have to excavate a variety of materials from soft sand, mucky sludge, sticky clay soil and hard rock and rough tree roots. Sometimes needing to be very delicate are buried utility pipes.
The vacuums are a surprise to me too 😮 I never thought of how these ear excavations are like the microcosm of large scale land excavators. Makes sense though, and they’re both definitely dependent on careful precision!
I’m streaming you through my brand new cochlear implants and I have to say, you have never sounded better! I couldn’t hear your voicing over for the last 6 months till I had my surgery. Now I can hear you loud and clear!
Terrific procedure! I can see why your patient was surprised! Your narration gave me an idea. The next time you or TLMTG has to remove wax from the others ears, you’ve got to record it, with full sound of course! Seems like a video Ms B would be fabulous as the person recording! Thanks & to the TLMTG, hope you’re feeling better!🩵🩵🩵🩵

1. I have clear liquid ear wax. It never stays in my ears. It will just drip out. 2. I can't wait for it to drip out. I MUST get it out with q tips. 3. My ear hairs MUST be plucked or they tickle my ear canal and I go nuts. 4. How anyone could have ears like this guy is beyond me! WTAF?!?!?
If you look at them end-on, Neel's Rai curettes (the Jobson Horne ones) are also slightly curved, to match the curvature of the canal walls - except I think you had it upside down a couple of times there. 🙃
I love listening to you just talk, like we are your best friends you can just let it out, be yourself, enjoy life, and not worry about what anyone else is thinking. It's simple, if you don't like what someone is saying simply turn them off, you don't need to be negative, you don't need to be rash, just simply turn it off.
@@AudiologyAssociatesUKMy fiance has the most sensitive ears on earth, even touching the bowl he finds uncomfortable. Once in the canal, he’s gritting his teeth, grunting, shaking with pain, he says it even hurts into his cheekbone. But he’s got really really waxy ears. I try to get him to irrigate them with a very gentle home tool to stop it building up, but sometimes he leaves it and he goes deaf in that ear. I know it’s not normal but what should we do? The doctors don’t want to bother with him because of the incredible sensitivity. I’ve taken to using a home tool with a camera and silicone spoon to clean it myself because I can be slower and more gentle than the doctor can. But cleaning twice a year doesn’t usually cut it. I don’t know if that’s due to him or just nobody ever needs that.
I love your videos!!!! It's actually relaxing to watch them after a tough day at work. Wish I could come see y'all because I'm having ringing in my ears. I live in the USA. I'm going to be making a doctor's appointment soon to get it check out.😢
Thanks for a most interesting video Rhys. Pass my hello on to Taylor. Watched also on facebook but prefer the TH-cam channel more. This was a challenge for you sir. Glad your patient was able to sit thru this as he let a lot of heavy duty wax build up in his ears. But he came to the right person to have it removed. My compliments to you Rhys for getting these ears cleaned out. Was quite a job. Heavy duty wax you had to contend with there. Oh my. Very professional work Rhys. Looked good when you were done. Thanks Rhys. Iowa State here. Steve. 😊👋👍✅🙏💕💝🇺🇸
Now with clean ears he probably feels newly born and can hear all sorts of things he could not for a long time. You certainly improve people's quality of life.
goodness that was tough! i bet that first ear was sore, it was red, maybe some from the procedure but it was tightly wedged in there & it looked close to the ear drum too. would a little irrigation sooner have helped? just curious, not judging. i have a n issue that’s a bit odd … i’ve developed tinnitus where i hear my heart beat , the odd part is that when i hold my breath it stops 🤔 🤔 dyk why that would be??
Good grief boy that was a good one. I still think you should invent the Rosen Inserter that you need why let Neel have all the fun lol 😊thanks for another great watch Rhys have a good night
Is it normal for wax extraction to hurt? My GP pulled a very large, rock hard, deep brown chunk of wax out of my left ear with a plastic curette type of instrument that hurt like Hell! Im talking a solid 8 out of the 1-10 pain scale! I didn’t think it was gonna hurt that bad! The wax plug was about half the size of a pinky tip. Even had some tiny scabbing fall out of the ear about 48 hours after the procedure.
Why can’t you introduce liquid numbing into the ear canal while removing the wax? Might ear canals are so sensitive so I put oil in my ears constantly to try and keep my earwax under control. But it’s so painful if I’m having earwax removed. So how come topical numbing cannot be introduced?
After watching your videos, I would like to find an audiologist without the pushing of getting a hearing aid. What do you recommend for looking for a good doctor? I have been to an audiologist about 10 yrs ago. They have merged with a conglomerate, so I'm not too sure about the integrity of a conglomerate. Thank you. Oh BTW hearing was great. Ears clean, but a lot can change in 10 yrs. Asking from the USA.
Mr Neel uses the rai jobson horn the other way around because of the curve he designed so it’s gliding better on the curve off the ear canal , not breaking down your work because you did it anyway, I am just a big fan of all of you so I pick things up and can only say what I see . 😊 Great video all to getter !!! 👍 See you soon sir and have a good night sleep 🛌. 🇧🇪😘
Whoa! Sometimes the wax/skin next to the ruler is spread out a little, but this was a solid block of wax twice as thick as most hauls. Poor guy, that had to have been uncomfortable to have in your ears. I think he had at least half an olive grove worth of oil run through his ears! Well done!! 💎

That was a great removal. The commentary was hilarious!! Thanks for a great start to my day!!
Thank you.
You were proper excited when that came out! 😂❤ Irrigation changed the game! Lovely, Rhys.🎉🎉🎉
I had a doctor lavage my ear with a 14 gauge needle. It was both the most uncomfortable and relieving experience of my life.
Was the patient surprised at the size of the chunks or surprised he could now hear like Superman?

Does the ear wax removal ease tinnitus at all?

It always amazes me how clean the eardrum is when the earwax is removed. I've just thought it would be dirty.
I'm immensely grossed out by this but I can't stop watching. 😮

Is this a painful or uncomfortable procedure?
Wow! This wax was tough as old boots! Great video!❤❤❤
I love you are using Neels tools. I love watching him too 😀
What kind of oil do you have patients put in ear before coming to appointments?
I’d like a Rosen inserter like that too for use in ER, but small for use in Peds. I always seem to be dealing with little ones ears.
I never have this problem. Stupid question, but what causes this to build up? 🤔 love these videos
Your new glasses look fantastic!!!!!
Wow. I was cheering you on. That first ear was a tough one 😅
Well done Rhys! 😊
Thank you! 😀🦻
How does diet affect ear wax? What changes should I make?
Wow great work getting all that wax out ❤😮
all I wanna know is: how uncomfortable/painful is this procedure for the patient?
It shouldn't be uncomfortable or painful but if they do experience any of those we do advise them to ask the Audiologist's to stop.

Would the Jobsen Horn work better if you put the curve towards the curve of the ear canal instead of away from it like you are currently doing?
TH-cam just served me an ad for a earwax remover tool.
Great success with stubborn wax plugs. Well done Rhys 👏❤️
This looks so good to have done to ones ears, I wanna go, even if I dont really have any issues with my hearing currently 😅

This may be a question you’ve answered before. Does the hair in the earwax hinder the removal?
