When he said you little nigletts, the movie theater went crazy that night🤣🤣..
I wanted to not laugh at that line however...that line is hilarious!!! 😂😂
Great reaction girl. What's even more so crazy about the scene with Lamont Bentley and Ricky Harris, is that they both were in Moesha and died tragically.
Thank you! I didn't know Ricky Harris was also on Moesha! Wow!! That kind of makes that scene a little creepy.
@@SistaGurlonFilms Yes indeed. Happy to have found your channel!
"This aint the terror dome either" That cracked me up!😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 Yes!!!
The director of this movie (the teacher with dreads) directed Sprung too. Yeah I use to quote all this movie. The last 10-15 minutes had me rolling.
I edited it out of my video for time purposes but Rusty Cundieff has an interesting filmography. He directed this, Spung, Fear of a Black Hat, and episodes of The Chapelle Show. He even directed the awful Tales From the Hood sequel (the first one), which was surprising because of how bad it was
@@SistaGurlonFilms yeah they could’ve stopped at the first one. Some movies are not made to continue. They should have left this one alone.
@@geminida1 Yea I was shocked when I saw there was a sequel. But when I saw Rusty was the writer and director I hoped it would be decent. I was definitely wrong lol
@@SistaGurlonFilms lol. . .I got some good laughs from the second one.
His mother was the old lady in the rocking chair and his father was the preacher at the funeral..
Rip To A Great Actor Clarence Williams III,We Still Miss You
I'll never forget the monster. Brings back terrible times.
I'm thirty and I rented Tales from the Hood from Hollywood video when I was like twelve I think. Always liked horror, and appreciated assholes getting what they deserved. The zombie from the first story was so implacable, definitely stuck in my head. Great video!
I really wish I had known that video stores would not be around forever because I would have appreciated them more!
Thank you for watching!!!
I'm happy you reviewed this film. You're one of the only Reviewers on TH-cam that I've seen that will watch this film. I've always loved this movie.
This is one of my favorite movies & i watched it every year during spooky season. Brandon Hammond is behind the scenes directing & producing. This youtuber named Primm Hood Cinema said that Paula Jai Parker is the female version of Samuel Monroe Jr.
David Alan Grier was from my favorite movie Boomerang. Joe Torry played Chicago in Poetic Justice and so was Roger Smith who fell down the stairs. Too bad the boy who played Walter Brandon Hammond didn’t have more movies after Soul Food. This movie is such an incredible horror. Great reaction.
Thank you for watching! 💕
You’re welcome and also R.I.P to both Clarence Williams iii and my dude from Moesha Lamont Bentley.
Yeah man lol Grier killed it, nobody was expecting him to be that type of character after seeing that roles he had before.
“just fry tht shit righ the first time and gettt ooouu”
Fun fact alot of gang members came to the director after the film and said that scene where its showing black on black crime made some of them quit gangbangin.
I felt like that was the intention of that scene, I'm glad it was impactful!
90s baby as a kid seeing this I was scared a bit
It definitely has some scary moments! Especially the first story
True story lol 😂
You're funny as hell lol. Dope reaction girl.
Thank you for watching! 💕
I was 5 when my dad showed me this movie its gangster and spooky af
5?! Wow! I'm sure that experience made this a favorite horror movie for you
It’s a message throughout the whole movie. Great movie
@@SistaGurlonFilms most definitely
I love to see more of us embracing this film. I fell in love with black horror the moment I saw this in the 90's. It just made sense. I mean life in the hood is a bit of a horror movie for us. Idc who disagrees, this the best black horror film in the history of cinema besides Jordan Peele's Get Out.
Thank you for your review sis. Subbed👍🏽
Thank you for watching and subscribing!!! 💕 This movie is really a classic and one of a few Black Lead Horrors that seemed to really take the genre seriously and consider Black Audiences
I love this movie! i can watch this anytime and never get tired of it. I actually bought the soundtrack because of the Spice 1 song and i don't really like rap except for the gangster rap from the late 80's and early 90's. Yeah they made 3 of these movies part 2 is pretty bad part 3 was a little better but neither compare to the first one. Awesome video! 😊
Classic!! I saw this in the theaters too.
Lucky you! I bet you were shocked at the ending 🤣 😈
@@FlashEarth89 considering that I probably shouldn’t have been there at my age, yes. But I was a horror buff early on so I loved it. Clarence Williams III played his part! But I mean he always does a good job no matter what.
The last story was a shocking twist.
oh yea for sure! When I first saw this movie, that reveal at the end had me shook!
Classic 1995 movie.yeah this movie brings back memories.word up son
This movie and “get out “ are the best black horror movies. I also like “ people under the stairs” which was directed by Wes craven.
i grew up watching stuff like creepshow and the old amicus 'omnibus' movies that preceded tales from the hood, and i have to say that clarence williams iii did a fantastic job. my all time favorite just in that one film -- he chewed the scenery as well as christopher lee or vincent price, just a monster performance. XD
cundeiff & scott understood the format and made a masterpiece.
This rarely gets mentioned as a great horror. I think this is a great anthology horror movie.
The doll house segment is always my favorite since a story about living dolls is always going to be creepy. It also seems to be the strongest retribution story with how that racist klansman politician went down.
Love seeing your reactions to one of my all time favorite Movie's
Great performances by everyone in this movie
This movie scare the life outta me, from a kid to a grown man i can't watch it lol But i love the video Queen
Oh no! 😟 Is it the whole movie or just a particular story that is scariest for you?
Thank you for watching! Hopefully my foolishness helped! Lol
@@SistaGurlonFilms Well... I was gonna say the whole movie especially the ending but there's certain parts that scare me and scarred me for life. But you watching it made it better and safer lol
I can understand that! That first story used to be horrifying to me when I was younger and the last story when Crazy K was in the sensory deprivation chamber. I think because I've seen this movie so many times that eventually the scariest parts became funny. I'm glad the humor made it more palpable for you! 💕
@@SistaGurlonFilms True, that Crazy K one and the ending scarred me. And You just got a subscriber!
I Was 11 Year's Old, When This Movie Came Out, Great Memories, I'm 38 Year's Old Now & Still Loves This Great Horror Classic
One of the better hip hop soundtracks
This came out when movie soundtracks were just as important as the movie itself lol
Candy Man was good
The Best 👍💯
lol spike Lee just slapped his name on this and got his money and I ain’t mad
That good EP credit!!! Invest a little and hopefully benefit greatly. I love to see who the EP is for a movie because sometimes it explains a lot about why a movie is so good or terrible lol
Great review ✊🏿
Thank you for watching!!!
My childhood.
How old were you watching this movie as a child?
@@SistaGurlonFilms I was 5 years old when I seen this movie when it came out in theaters. Got hooked on it ever since. 💯🎬🎥🔥
5?!!! Omg!!! There is no way I could have watched this movie at that age! I would have been traumatized lol
@@SistaGurlonFilms 😂 I was forced to see this movie. I wanted to see batman forever but eventually it went left because it was my mom birthday weekend when this movie officially came out. I cried & everything, but after I left that movie theater I was hooked 😂
Give me all the names of the adults involved! I'm calling CPS immediately 😂😂
But then again the 1995 Batman was Batman Forever...your family might have done you a favor there because that Batman movie was not the best lol
You lowkey kinda look like Paula Jai Parker 🥰
I've only heard that one other time in my life. I can see it a little bit! 💕
You keep saying that man was overacting but honestly, if the damn Devil was standing feet in front of you in his full glory, how calmly would you react?
He notoriously over acts in most movies he's in. He's notorious for it which is why it was parodied in Don't Be A Menace 🙄 That's why I kept saying it because it's funny
Lucky me I own this movie on Blu-ray and bought it back in June. I always buy holiday stuff early before they’re sold out. Lol
That was a good find!
@@SistaGurlonFilms Hell yeah and it’s a much better poster than the skull with sunglasses. It shows everyone in it
29:45 i always enjoy your informative popups
I should do them more often
Another Clarence Williams III movie where he is as psycho as ever is 52 Pick Up from 1986. He has a scene with Vanity that is amazing
I've never heard of that one! I'll have to look it up because Clarence Williams always delivers!
@@SistaGurlonFilms as well as Reindeer Games. CWIII was a legend.
1:14 vibing 😎
Paula Jai Parker aka Stephanie Sanders A House Divided
They were already in hell by the choices they made. I always thought the Clarence Williams character was showing them all the time the wasted in the street.
Walter was being sexually abused as well.
34:34 "whew!"
21:07 super dark
36:36 the best reveal ever
It was definitely a shocker when I first watched this!
New subscriber boo
Thank you for subscribing! 💕
@@SistaGurlonFilms oh yeah no doubt
4:10 "knee deep..."
😂
I appreciate a sista on you tube who actually watch and react to black cinema along with the main stream films.....
Thank you 💕 I hate not seeing Black Lead film not being celebrated or discussed on youtube as much they should be.
Oh, and the three guys at the funeral home.... the bald one with the bandana, plays a douchebag in each film I've seen him in, lol.
Yea he was definitely type casted in the 90s lol
@34:34 We did that part at the same time.
😂😂😂
Like your cool t shirt sweetheart
This movie was so good. All the stories were great and Clarence Williams III was amazing as the Undertaker, especially during the reveal at the end, lol. The sequels are terrible tho, even with Keith David & Tony Todd.
Those sequels are an abomination lol
@SistaGurlonFilms truly terrible. They let my fellow hi-yella write them and they were just bad. They should have known from his barely passable acting in Walter's Story that it could only end badly, lol.
Great movie..Great review..You fine too.
Thank you for watching! And thank you for the compliment 💕
If anything got the G's as well as anyone thinking about joining them or anyone who wasnt even about that life was the ending because that shook everyone. From what people i know or even read on comments to other reactions to this film is that the three guys were like someone they knew in real life and that fact alone scared them which to me did its job. This film pulled the sixth sense ending before it was even a thing.
Now I can believe that! That final reveal is an underrated movie moment in my opinion. The censory deprivation chamber and the repetition of showing the gang members killing each other was cool but it went on too long and it kind of mimicked the conversation that was already happening around gang violence which really wasn't being received well.
37:42 overall i had a good time watching you watch Tales from the Hood
Awesome reaction, can you please watch a movie called SCREAMERS.
Thank you for the watching and the recommendation!
I think sista girl on film is very pretty
Thank you! 💕
Tales from the hood 2 & 3,Not Good One's At All
The Sequels 👎
The sequels are so bad!
@@SistaGurlonFilms Fact's, I Watched Them One Time, That Was Good Enough For Me
@@SistaGurlonFilms The third was a bit okay. At least better than the second. Hopefully when they make a fourth it'll capture the same spirt as the first.
Let's be clear. There is nothing funny about domestic abuse. However, David Alan Grier hopping the stairway banister was nothing short of hilarious in a very serious scene.
I'm with you! DV not funny at all however...David Alan Grier and some of these moments...hilarious 😂😂
34:20 maybe they did did
4:32 i wish you would recite *all* the lines, much more fun
No one would want that lol
