#reaction #candyman #movie
Chris saying to Pat: "Sir, he's a slave from the 1800's who's still walking the Earth, I think he might have magic", made me bust out laughing so hard that I had to watch it again. I love y'all's reactions, y'all never disappoint.
Same sometimes you just have to say the obvious to pat lol
@@ThePyroSquirrel1 because he's a idiot
Tony Todd’s voice is so iconic!
No wonder he was chosen to play Venom
@@paneledmeteor33 because he’s goated.
Chris is just so good at holding back and gaslighting this time! MY MAN!!! 🤣
I love how Pat and Rana so desperately wanted Candyman not to be real 😂
This was one of the rare occasions when a Clive Barker story got adapted to a movie and the movie was BETTER. The monstrous charisma of Tony Todd elevated this so much.
The Ruthie Jean story is inspired by real events. A woman was murdered in her apartment. The killer came thru her bathroom mirror. In certain old buildings it was hollow behind mirrors to make it easier to fix pipes. There's more to it but I can't remember.
still have some buildings like that in the north east
The back to back medicine cabinets from different units is what occurred with Ruthie Jean, just like in the movie. That shady type of construction is still present in hotels and old apartments.
I love the way Chris just goes along with them knowing they are dead wrong.😂
in the scenes where Helen seems entranced she actually was. the director hypnotised the actress. also shout out to Philip Glass's score
I ADORE Philip Glass, particularly appearing in movies. I was thrilled to hear some of this music in the latest season of Stranger Things... very 80s!
@@wtimmins me too i first heard his music in Sesame Street of all things. and the stunningly beautiful movie Mishima
@@somthingbrutal My highschool actually had us watch Koyaanisqatsi. ... Kind of a weird choice, but a very interesting experience!
@@wtimmins another amazing movie/art work found it by accident in a video shop just wow
Phillip Glass says he was tricked into writing the score. He said the producers described a completely different type of movie. He said he would have never agreed to score a slasher film.
*”Beetlejuice is nice.”*
I mean, Im sure he’d agree. 😅
I forgot that Ted Raimi (Sam Raimi's brother) plays the boyfriend in the beginning with the leather jacket.
rana speaking arabic after getting jump scared lmaoo
Just like me when i get shook, Yen 3al Deen Umak! 😅😅
They actually put the actress on a trance while filming those close up shots with Candyman. It looks so good.
It's so funny how much Pat and Rana don't think anything supernatural is happening
0:39 Rana and Pat have to watch scary movies in their contracts 😂
Glad Chris acknowledged the score for this movie slaps within the first two minutes 😂
the fact that The Flash got Tony Todd to voice Zoom and Vanessa Williams as Francine West, introduced in the same season too
I was thrilled to see that this was indeed the original. Woo!
In 1994, my mother and I were traveling by Amtrak train and passed by Cabrini-Green Apartments. The conductor came over the loudspeaker, pointed out that we were passing by where Candyman was filmed but warned about gang activity and said, "If you hear gunfire, duck."
i think he was making a joke lol the Normeis even said that they go to a bar near there
I'd also like to point out Jordan Peele didn't direct the 2021 version, he produced it, Nia DaCosta directed it. The Marvels was the second time Nia and Teyonah worked together
You know if Pat ever leaves i think Navi will be the token crazy person.
and oh how we pray for that day🙏🏽💀
It’s been fun finding out Navi is the Dennis of the Normies 😅
@@Crescentknight8189easily my favorite outta the couch.
Cabrini Green was actually on the city's Northside
NICE!
This was the first Clive Barker movie I saw on TV with my sister and it scared the hell out of me! I was 5-6 years old when I saw this! I have the Blu Ray Collector's Edition from SCREAM FACTORY (Now named Shout Studios).
It contains the original cut and Director's Cut with a minute of gorier bloodier footage.
I was obsessed with C live Barker when this movie came out so I practically RAN to the cinema to see it.
I wasn't prepared for how elegant and beautifully made it was. I thought it would usher in a complete new wave of awesome Clive Barker adaptations.
Sadly, that didn't happen. And still hasn't.
35:13 Chris and Rana making of Navi speaking English
Tony Todd is so legendary. That man aged like fine wine too
One of my all time favorite horror movie and the movie that introduced me to the great Tony Todd
No. The NYC Sewer alligator is an urban legend. Also, i was shocked when i found out that Cabrini Green is also the Housing Project from Good Times.
"Hey! Stacy showed up!"
PAAAAAT! 😂
Ahahaha, great reaction, Normies! I never comment on your videos, but I had to this time because of the topic at 42:53… there’s actually a metalcore song based off of this movie series called “Farewell II Flesh”.
Having said that, after a quick google search, apparently the sequel (that I forgot even existed) to this film is called “Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh”, which is what you guys were talking about.
TLDR: there’s a song that shares a title with this movie’s direct sequel, but I didn’t know (about the sequel/it’s name) until just this moment.
Regardless, still a great reaction, stay awesome!
The guys Defending Stacy was hilarious 😶🌫️
I love this so much! Watch all the movies! I’d love to see you all do a classic movie watch through with things like Casablanca or Citizen Kane.
Virginia Madsen (Helen) is allergic to bees and yet the director still insisted on putting them on her. I believe Tony Todd took on more of the “bee work” so she could do less but I might be misremembering. The Kill Count on Dead Meat goes into detail, but yeah. The 90s and safety standards were wild.
That was awesome, it’s a great movie.
You guys should check out Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2: Hellbound for more Clive Barker horror.
We have such sights to show you!
Clive Barker is my favorite author, and Candyman is my favorite horror film. Tony Todd's voice is so alluring and powerful, yet ominous. It would put me in a trance too.
Pat would watch Peter Pan and think pixie dust is just PCP and the flying and Neverland is just the kids’ hallucinations
How do y’all pick who’s gonna be in the videos do y’all have a group chat for it lol like ay you wanna watch this or naw lol
Back in the day! Probably in 70s-80s people would buy pet baby gators and if they didn't want to them anymore they would flush the babies dowm the toilet and they would wind up in the sewers.
Candyman and the Creeper are really the only 2 horror villains that i remember scaring me a lot as a kid. For future horror reactions definitely check out The Hitcher (1986) and The Fly (1986)
If you guys are watching Silence of the Lambs next, you might also wanna check out the TV series "Hannibal". It's a great show!!
I'd love if it they'd react to Hannibal the series.
When Pet no longer supports the villain, screaming "NOO! NOOOOH!!! THIS IS WRONG" you know it must be a really bad guy with no redeeming qualities whatsoever😂
Candyman (2021) was amazing. You should check out Tales from the Hood as well, classics
Next month's horror movie suggestion: An American Werewolf in London
Yes yes yes to An American Werewolf in London!!! Beware the moors.
Please watch the 2021 Candyman, no matter what you hear from some people on the Internet, it's a sequel to the first movie.
you know how you wait for something all week but you get a different thing that you also like. was entirely convinced we were getting httyd 2
please watch part 2 🙏🥺
11:21 swearing in Arabic coming straight from the heart 😂
The Ruthie Jean murder and the service tunnels behind the mirrors were based on real Cabrini Green incidents, but Candyman himself was a character that Clive Barker invented for his Books of Blood short story "The Forbidden". Originally Candyman was white, and the story was set in run down part of England. They changed the story around for the film, and now the association with Cabrini Green and Candyman has become so symbiotic that people think he was real.
I wore my grandma's fur coat and used a hanger for a hook when I was 10 for Halloween.
Also, I'm still frightened of Tony Todd to this day.
Check out the movies The People Under The Stairs(1991), Misery(1990), Leprechaun(1993), Tales From The Hood(1995), I Know What You Did Last Summer(1997), Childs Play(1988), and A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984).
This channel has seriously been lacking in the Horror department. This is a nice change of pace, and I hope to see more!
If you do Exorcist, skip part 2, and watch 3 as the direct sequel.
All of the well known Stephen King movies are necessary, and many of the not so well known ones are also good, but there are far too many to list off.
All of the Evil Dead Movies are great! That's the one franchise that has ZERO misses. It also displays low budget creativity, as well as combines Comedy & Horror, which has a reputation for being very difficult to do. Just making Horror movies is hard, but to effectively infuse them with genuine laughs is impressive. Another good example of this is An American Werewolf In London.
The other major franchise adapted to film from stories by Clive Barker was Hellraiser. The first two are worth a watch.
The original & remake of Suspiria would be excellent for discussion's sake.
The first 3 Living Dead movies (Night/Dawn/Day) are also required viewing for any aspiring Horror fan. I personally think Day of the dead is actually the best one, but most seem to prefer the other two. All 3 are quite good, and very innovative for their respective time periods.
Pretty much all things John Carpenter have some form of underlying Horror/Thriller element. This can be observed in movies like Assault On Precinct 13, and Escape From New York.
A lot of people have been enjoying the A24 produced films after the success of Everything Everywhere All At Once, but that company made a name for itself in the Horror Genre. There are plenty of lesser known films that are absolutely enjoyable, and engaging within their catalog (such as Green Room).
I could go on forever, but I'll spare myself.
So happy ya'll watched this! One of my top horror movies!! Hope you watch the Candyman 2021!
The little boy being castrated is inspired by a racist and entirely false urban legend that went around back in the 80s and 90s about ethnic gangs having initiation rites that involved castrating children in public bathrooms, even better if they were little white boys. If I recall correctly, this particular urban legend was most popular in England, where writer/director Bernard Rose is from (Clive Barker is English as well, but this movie bares little resemblance to his original short story). It's mostly just a racist reaction to immigration, but I really like how Rose uses it in this film. Like most urban legends, the way the boy tells it, it's not entirely clear what happened or if it ever happened. What matters is that the residents think Candyman did it and that keeps the fear of him alive.
at the very LEAST it would be worth it to react to the new movie's trailer if only because of the top notch music choice they made! 🎶😆
Stacey going to the funeral is CRAZY hahaha
I was 8 years old in 1992 when this movie came out.
Silence of the Lambs is decidedly not horror.
It's a detective thriller.
You guys should definitely start watching older horror movies, like as early as the 1930s. There are so many good old/classic horror films!
Should do a reaction of Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh
Oh shit, the professor dude is Gregory from the walking dead xD
35:14 Chris's face is priceless.
Y'all didn't even realize that Gregory from Hill Top (TWD) was in this movie... Trevor
Loved your reaction!
You should definetly watch the society of the snow, it's a great movie and I'm sure you are going to have a lot of interesting things to say about that one
I love pat's accent. He sounds gangsta af sometimes 😂
Tony Todd is a sick motherfucke* for real. Candyman is a certified classic! Also, something about Cabrini Green is so enchanting but so dangerous at the same time because of the real life events that took place in that area but also the way this film showcased the place made me feel hypnotized by it and I don't really know why... it's just a place I always wanted to visit mostly because of this film but also because of it notorious history.
It was about 26 bee stings, but once is enough for me.
Normies, before you guys react to the 2021 remake of "Candyman" please react to the 1995 & 1999 sequels "Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh" & "Candyman: Day of the Dead".
This is the sexiest horror movie for sure.
Oh nice! The good Candyman
Kind of a bummer that Chris kept saying multiple times that Jordan Peele directed the new Candyman when it was actually Nia Dacosta. He always seems to get credit for the movie even though he only produced it.
Its cause no one cares 😂
i like how scared Pat and Rana get lol i’ve watched this young so it doesn’t phase me like that anymore!! i love how no matter the media Pat loves to push for the cheating spouse, he wants them to cheat!😂
Hey guys 🥰 I always love your reactions! Are yall doing Society of The Snow any time soon? 💯% recommend it 👌🏻a must- watch
Farewell to the flesh is a good sequel
You guys should react to the 1961 horror classic, The Innocents.
Nice choice this is a classic. Idk if yall tried friday the 13th. The very first one i think yall would enjoy.
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
Not everything is based on a true story. Yes, there are two other movies you must watch before the reboot.
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE RANA AND PAT REACT TO THE FULL SCREAM FRANCHISE??! If they haven’t seen it of course. I feel like it would help the both of them handle horror better maybe even grow to love it.
I know many people who have got over their fear of horror movies and actually started liking them through that franchise.
Looking forward to seeing the reaction to the sequel and the film Urban Legend
Glad you guys did this one, absolutely one of my favorite horror films. The sequels not so much, but this is iconic
This movie still scares me to this day
Hopefully The Lost Boys wins the poll
Rana cursing in Arabic is so real 😂
Tony Todd is also in The Crow, which i would recommend reacting to
Loving the creepy voice Chris keeps making 😆
23:15 THEY'RE IN MY EYES!!! AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! 🐝😱
Rana like fukk it lets get married but I ain’t living in no abandoned building.
The sequel from a few years ago was pretty good
I wish it had more Tony Todd.
That movie was SHIT!
you guys should check out The People Under the Stairs
This movie is great and I was terrified of this man as kid!! I had an irrational fear of bees that I slowly got over with age (when I got to college I was a lot better) but I totally squashed any remaining fear thanks to my friend Kim becoming a bee keeper. Thank god I did because it honestly got in the way of life sometimes.
I became terrified of bees because I almost died when I was in 2nd grade. I stepped on a hornets nest that was in the ground and hundreds of hornets swarmed me and they were the type that didn’t lose their stinger called Bald Faced Hornets.
The ambulance was called and even though I wasn’t allergic I was having trouble breathing. They said had it been my brother who was allergic and that number of stings he would have died in less than 5 minutes.
Luckily I wasn’t allergic but even though I wasn’t they said had I not gotten any treatment within 2 hours I could have died. So ever since that super traumatic and painful beyond belief moment in my life I became irrationally fearful of bees. And this movie scared the crap out of me.
Like I said before I thankfully have gotten over that. But I will say I am very cautious when walking in the woods and in any grass in the summer because I wouldn’t wish what happened to me on my worst enemy. It was awful. It was painful in the moment and even worse afterwards.
An 80's movie having a cartoon had basically zero connection to the actual film - see the Robocop and Rambo cartoons
Oh man. What a treat! Candyman is great. I love how it's a horror movie but that piano theme is so beautiful to me. The re-make wasn't as good to me. It was kind of good but personally it fell off for me at the end.
I remember being around 9 years old when my cousins and I rented this on vhs and it took me a few viewings over the next few years to get through this from beginning to end. This traumatized me for years. By now I've come to love this as its one of the few movies out there that actually scares me. The sequel that came out in 1995 is underrated. It's not better than the first, but it has a good story delivers plenty of good scares, and has great horror movie atmosphere with the New Orleans setting. Please give it a watch too. The 2019 movie is pretty weak compared to the first film though. It has some decent camera work and interesting ideas, but it falls apart with a very rushed ending.
Hey for the next scary movie reaction you guys should react to Cure by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. For me it was the best psychological horror movie ever you guys will love it
lol Rana... the cartoon Beetlejuice and the movie Beetlejuice were very different...
You guys should check out Ginger Snaps 🫰 basically Werewolf!
i was like 11 when this movie came out, loved it, saw it then (home rental), but i did not ever say Candyman in the mirror, was i a coward, superstitous, or just a wuss....sure, but to me it was like offering to sell you soul, if the very best outcome was nothing happened, and any other result would be significantly worse....it's just not worth it
I’m po
> The husband did it
Craziest takes you'll see on TH-cam.
Please guys react to Society of the Snow (2023)
i assume ya guys already watch the new one but.. i really...REALLY hope you guys saw the animated teaser before you saw the new movie
